Did you know that 12% of the world's population live in mountain communities? Head to to the mountains and enjoy the day! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, December 11th, 2012.

Metro Denver / Boulder

Wit's End Brewing (Denver) - At long last the brewery is bringing back Ugly Sweater! Wit's End will be releasing their beloved winter ale next Friday, December 14. Come help up celebrate by wearing your ugly sweater to the taproom. They will be raffling door prizes for those wearing an ugly sweater as well as a special prize for the best (or worst?) ugly sweater. Hours will be extended slightly from 2-9 PM ish. Also, Friday will be the only day they will sell Ugly Sweater to go — and only in their 40oz containers. So bring your 40 in for a refill or grab a new one.

Rockyard Brewing Co (Castle Rock) - Are you trying to figure out what to get that special someone for Christmas? Rockyard has some awesome merchandise, including their 64oz and 40oz Stainless Steel Growlers! The 64oz comes with a punch card for 5 fills, and the 40oz comes with a punch card for 3 fills. It's the gift that keeps on giving! Ask your server or the hostess for one and then sit and have a beer knowing that you have just made someone's life a whole lot better!

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Help end Alzheimer's! ‎$1 of each pint sold today will go towards the Alzheimer’s Association of Colorado for #pintsforpurpose. Come on out today and support a great cause just by drinking a pint (or two!).

Atom Brewing Company (Erie) - The owners/brewers will be presenting their vision to the Erie Board of Trustees tonight Tuesday the 11th at 6:30pm. At that time anyone from the public is given a few minutes to say anything they would like. If any of you feel strongly about your support of Atom Brewing Company opening in Erie you are invited to show up at 6:30 and do so. Thank you in advance to anyone who decides to show up.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - In a recent statement from the brewery: Avery is projecting a 20% increase in production in 2012 over 2011. Avery Brewing Company is seeking solutions to meet a growing demand for its beers. While the brewery finalizes plans and begin construction on a new facility in Boulder, brewery managers have incorporated new equipment and processes to bring the current facility to a potential maximum volume of 65,000 bbls per year. Once completed, the new facility will offer an immediate capacity of 100,000 bbls with expansion to 350,000 bbls possible, and completion is estimated for late spring/early summer 2014. In the mean time, they plan to base Avery’s sales strategy on maintaining inventories with key partners in order to ensure consistent turnover and the freshest beer possible. The decision to pull out of Minnesota did not come easy. Of the departure, they stated, “We love Minnesota dearly. Until we finish our new brewery, we’re forced to limit our markets. When we do come back to Minnesota, and we will, it will be with quality rep support, tons of fresh beer and even more tons of excitement to be drinking with those guys again.”
