Colorado Beer News 121312

Colorado Beer NewsWith 18 days left in the year, you'd think the pace of beer news would be slowing down, not so! With over 160 active breweries in the state of Colorado there's always something brewing each and every day. Time to get those last minute holiday gifts and finalize your festivities. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, December 13th, 2012.

Metro Denver / Boulder

Atom Brewing Company (Erie) - At long last, Atom Brewing Company has revealed their future location. The brewery address will be at: 235 Wells, Erie, CO. At the corner of Wells and Briggs Street in Old Town Erie. The town of Erie gave them the go ahead to move forward with the final negotiations of the lease / purchase agreement. It's one small step for a brewery, but one giant leap for beer-kind.

Black Shirt Brewing (Denver) - Despite saying earlier that they would be open every Saturday this month, BSB wil NOT be open this coming Saturday, Dec. 15th. Instead, they will be pouring their beer over at the Denver Beer Festivus. They'll be back at their own place the following Saturday.

Boulder Beer Co (Boulder) - For many of us, we love blending certain beers together to create something new. Well Boulder Beer has decided to give us The 12 Blends of Christmas at their taproom just for this time of year. There will be 12 different blends available from December 10th through the 22nd. Tastes such as: Indian Summer, Mojo Marg, Rise of the Penguin, Black & Gold, Mobovoid, Celtic Warrior, Betty Mimosa, Raspberry Chocolate Cake, Black Betty, Chocolate and Cherries, Amarillo Juniper and Cask Conditioned Indian Summer. Stop in to try one (or more). What's your favorite gonna be?

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - Just a reminder - their tap room will be open tonight from 4:00pm to 5:30pm only and then close for a private party. They'll be back with normal hours on Friday 4:00pm to 9:00pm.

AC Golden CtaytAC Golden Brewing Co (Golden) - AC Golden Brewing Company's award winning Barrel-Aged Russian Imperial Stout is now available in select Denver area liquor stores. The beer, which medaled in this fall's Great American Beer Festival, is being sold in 750 ml bottles. The name? Ctayt. There is no Russian word for stout, so the brewer spelled the English word stout with Russian characters: C stands for S, T stands for T, A stands for A, there is no Y in Russian alphabet but the letter U looks similar to Y. If you read this word in Russian it would be pronounced S-T-A-U-T. The beer is available in a very limited supply of 1,344 bottles, each individually numbered.

Northern Colorado

New Belgium SpringboardNew Belgium (Fort Collins) - Signs of the first Spring seasonals. The brew weighs in at 6.2% ABV and will be sold in 12oz bottles (6-packs and variety packs).

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - This this news may not be centered in Colorado it will certainly impact the brewery here in Colorado. Moving at a fast pace, Oskar Blues announced yesterday that they have officially opened their new brewery in Brevard, North Carolina on Wednesday 12-12-12. Not only will Brevard, NC be the eastern US production facility HQ, but the town will also be getting a new Oskar Blues themed restaurant and live music venue. The new brewery is slated to produce around 40,000 barrels in the first year. Dale's Pale Ale was the first beer to start brewing on Wednesday. Their tasting room won't be opened until today.
