Colorado Beer NewsToday is Stock Up on Beer Day. There's a snow storm brewing tonight and unless you stock up on craft beer now you might be stuck without it for a few days. Visit your local beer store or head to your favorite taproom to fill up a growler. You'll be glad you have Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, December 18th, 2012.

Holiday Reminder: Several breweries, bars and restaurants are holding holiday private party events and may have restricted public hours this week. Call ahead to ensure your favorite watering hole is open when you wish to visit.

Metro Denver / Boulder

Ironworks Brewery (Lakewood) - Announcing the IronWassail Tapping on Friday, Dec. 21st, 2012 at Friday 6pm. Ironworks wishes to welcome all to a Winter Solstice Celebration featuring the launch of their seasonal specialty IronWassail Ale. They've gone all out with a Spiced English Strong Ale to remember! Top shelf English Malt creates a full body while a variety of caramel malt adds sweetness and a rich ruby color. The fun starts with Cinnamon, Ginger, Orange Peel, Cardamom, and Allspice. A generous addition of WildFlower Honey adds dimension and rounds the alcohol content at 10% ABV. They're excited to savor this beer with all you brewhounds, and are bringing in special 13oz stemware for the occasion. The price will be $5 per serving. Be sure to bring your growlers and take some IronWassail home for the holidays! Ironworks is located at: 12354 W. Alameda Parkway in Lakewood, CO.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - Looking to try a fresh seasonal brew with a twist? Head over to Stoney's Bar and Grill in Denver on Wednesday, January 2nd at 7pm where they will be tapping a special firkin of Breck's Mint infused Vanilla Porter. They will also hold a question and answer session with Breck's own QC brewer and firkin program head: John Jordan. Be there!

Boulder Beer Co (Boulder) - Planning to spend some time at Denver International Airport during the holidays? Why just sit and wait there when you could be enjoying a cold Boulder Beer brew at the Boulder Beer Tap House in the main terminal! They'll have Killer Penguin, Never Summer Ale and 7 other Boulder beers on tap. Waiting around just got a bit easier!

Avery Brewing Co (Boulder) - Avery is looking for extra warmth this holiday season. If you have any lightly used or new blankets, jackets or sleeping bags that you'd like to donate then bring it into the taproom and put it in the huge donation box. If you do, they'll be more than happy to give you a free pint for your efforts!

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - A heads up that Big Choice will be doing a 1/2 barrel limited release of Peppermint Stout on Friday, December 21st! This will include a CHOICE of crushed candy cane peppermint to put on your glass rim or a chocolate peppermint patty to enjoy it with (or both if you would like). Come on by while it lasts! Sorry, but no pre-sampling. You'll have to come by to check it out on Friday!

West Flanders Brewing (Boulder) - TONIGHT! The more you know about craft beer, the more you know there is to know about craft beer. This is the premise of West Flanders' monthly Craft Beer Talk. Every month industry experts will come to talk about a different aspect of the craft beer world. Tonight at 7:00pm is their first Craft Beer Talk, with Jeff Mendel of Land Hand Brewing Co. Jeff has seen the evolution of the craft beer movement from his days starting Tabernash Brewery to his current position as partner at Left Hand. This event is sure to be a fun and educational experience for all beer lovers.

Northern Colorado

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Not only has Left Hand been busy brewing beer this year, but they've also helped to raise over $276,693 for charities in 2012. Of that total, $185,525 was given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, $27,957 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, $7,000 for Bicycle Longmont, $7,000 to the Longmont Symphony Orchestra, $7,000 for Skyline Kiwanis, and $16,932 to the Rist Canyon Volunteer Fire Department & Northern Colorado Chapter of the Red Cross. In addition, Left Hand donated around $22,000 in in-kind donations to the community in general.

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - It's Tuesday Tees & Tunes Day - live music at 6pm in the taproom. Sport your Aleworks tee in there today, and get $1 off your beers. Come hungry - Billy's Chaulkboard Gourmet Express will be serving up tasty tacos, burgers and a number of other delicious sandwiches! Lots of different beers on tap today.

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - City Star will be closed today for an employee Christmas party and to install a new drip tray for the taps. They'll be back open tomorrow just in time for all the snow! Live music this week: Friday: Daniella Katzir & Enion Pelta-Tiller 6pm, and Saturday: Mike Finders & Ryan Dricky 6pm.

They'll be carrying a growler of Treasure Mountain Pale Ale for the most creative use of the word in a sentence. Look for the guy wearing a blue STRAFE onsie, neon yellow gloves and goggles, and nacho cheese orange boots. You can't miss him!

Bars, Restaurants and Misc.

Tap and Handle (Ft. Collins) - Join in as Tap and Handle hosts a Christmas beer tasting on Wednesday, December 19th. Ten holiday beers from Colorado and around the world will be sampled with reps from different breweries and distributorships present to talk about each beer. Tickets are $30 each and are available in advance. Seating will be limited and starts at 7:30pm.

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - On Wednesday, Dec. 19th, come to a special Great Divide Happy Hour at the Mayor of Old Town. Join Rob from Great Divide as he hosts a Great Divide Happy Hour starting at 5 pm. There will be prizes and several Great Divide beers on tap including Samurai will be on special for $3.00 from 5-7pm.

Freshcraft (Denver) - End of Days - Beers From the Grave - Friday Dec. 21st - all day. It could be the end of the world so let’s party like the undead! Zombies and zombie hunters will be running the show, guests that dress up will have a chance to win a $50 gift card for best costume. They’ll also be tapping some cool beers throughout the day whose lifespan has already ended including Coney Island Geektoberfest, Deschutes Black Butte Anniversary XXIII & a barrel aged version of Stone Vertical Epic 09.09.09. Ska's Autumnal Mole Stout will make one more appearance before it disappears and in the spirit of new things starting from the end they'll tap a keg of Ska's new seasonal stout, Hibernal Vinifera.
