Colorado Beer News 122012

Colorado Beer NewsToday is the Last Full Day on Earth as ancient astronaut theorists believe (thank you History Channel). If the Mayans were correct, tomorrow will be the end. On the lighter side, there's the world of Colorado craft beer news and that's a lot more exiting than the Mayans. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, December 20th, 2012.

Metro Denver / Boulder

Mountain Sun (Boulder) - Earlier this week, Mountain Sun released a special beer called "Rick Vaughn" aka Wild Thing. This was the first of many 100% Brettanomyces fermented IPAs. This beer is an Imperial Black Ale made wild, funky and tart. Coming up on December 28th, come try one of their Full Moon Firkins. At their Vine Street Denver location, they will be pouring Old School Vanilla Stout and a Hibiscus Wheat. Then, come the new year on January 8th, they'll be tapping Bourbon Aged Olde Skiddy, an English Barleywine-style ale that aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon barrels.

Lone Tree Brewing (Lone Tree) - Don't forget! Today they'll be tapping their Doomsday Doppelbock at 12:00 noon. It's a 9.5% ABV brew filled with German-style goodness. After one glass you may not care if the world will end tomorrow.

Dawn of the DankDad & Dude's Breweria (Aurora) - Just one more day until they party hard - it's their Dawn of the Dank party at Dad & Dude's on Friday, December 21st from 9pm to close. They will have special give away prizes including: free pint cards, gift certificates, Dank IPA hats, survivalist packs, MRE food and commemorative pint glasses. Stop in and get ready to party like there's no tomorrow.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Need a last minute gift idea? Why not buy that beer loving friend or relative a Copper Kettle gift card. Now through December 23rd you can get 25% off on gift cards! Put a little Copper Kettle into their lives.

Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew (Denver) - For the first 100 people who bring in some non-perishable food items tomorrow you can get a free OMF stemmed glass in exchange! Help feed the hungry this holiday season and enjoy craft beer in your own special glass.

Upslope Brewing (Boulder) - What's better than drinking Upslope beer? How about working for them! Upslope is hiring a part-time delivery driver and promotion person. If you are interested please send resume to info@upslopebrewing.com.

Northern Colorado

Oskar Blues (Longmont & Brevard, NC) - After just 7 months of preparation, the very first batch of Dale's Pale Ale was brewed this week at Oskar Blues' new east coast facility in Brevard, NC. Around 80 people celebrated with BBQ and beer at the new location. The NC brewery includes a taproom overlooking the brewery floor that's open to the public daily and serves Oskar Blues beers on tap and by the can. They also plan to host a big New Years Eve party there. The fame of Oskar Blues can now spread even farther across the USA.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Today is the 200th anniversary of the Grimm Brothers Fairy tales and if you love the Brothers Grimm you'll also love trying the story-inspired German-style ales on tap at the brewhouse today.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - The brewery has partnered with Loveland Coffee Co. to create the Buzzed Beaver Stout. This beer is most definitely a 3 part experience. First, enjoy the aroma of espresso and subtle notes of Dancing Pines Distillery's bourbon. Then, drink in a roasted coffee taste, followed by a slight hint of bourbon, and creamy mouthfeel. A pleasant coffee flavor is left on your palette for you to enjoy long after you've finished this brew. It will be on tap this Saturday (Dec. 22nd), at the brewery. Come down and partake in, what Loveland Coffee Co.'s owner, Kim, calls "a party in your mouth". But TONIGHT - stop in and listen to the sounds of The Stubby Shillelaghs and their raucous Celtic pub music.

Southern Front Range

KB Kraft Beer (Colorado Springs) - Their "End of the World Ale" is in the keg and they'll be serving it up on Friday! If the world ends, might as well go out enjoying a favorite beverage. If it doesn't end you might as well have your favorite beverage!
