Colorado Beer NewsHappy Chrismas Eve Day! It's one of those rare Monday's that most of us have the day off and part of a 4-day weekend. Hopefully, all of your holiday shopping is done and you can settle back and enjoy the spirit(s) of the season. May all your holiday wishes come true and may you be able to spend enough time with all the people you know and love Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, December 24th, 2012.

Metro Denver

CAUTION: Brewing Co (Denver) - Brewery expansion is underway. During the weekend, CAUTION spent time replacing two fermenters with 2 shiny new and improved ones. That can only mean one thing - more beer and in bigger quantities!

Copper Kettle Brewing Co (Denver) - Not to be outdone, Copper Kettle is also expanding soon. They have plans to install a brand new 30 barrel fermenter and a new brite tank early in the new year. Brewery business is doing well here in Colorado!

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Denver) - The barrel farm just got a lot bigger over at Crooked Stave. The brewhouse library just took delivery of 40 Leopold Brothers barrels! That's a lot of capacity for aging beer. 2013 beers are going to be even tastier coming out of these whiskey barrels. Crooked Stave is now taking new Cellar Reserve Memberships for 2013. There will be a limit of 400 memberships, $300 each, available with first choice going to existing 2012 members. Sign up at

Wynkoop Brewing Co (Denver) - There's another Wynkoop beer coming to cans next year. Wynkoop just got label approval for their Wynkoop Pumpkin Ale, an ale brewed with pumpkin, honey and spices. Described as: "A gently spiced English-style brown ae enhanced with pumpkin three ways: fresh roasted, pureed and flaked. 5.5% ABV and will be in 12oz cans. Look for this in 2013.

Northern Colorado

New Belgium (Ft. Collins) - Get ready for another Trip! Elysian Brewing and New Belgium are collaborating again on another in the famous Trip Series of small batch brews. This time, they plan to release Buckwheat Belgian Style Ale - an ale brewed with dates, dandelion and buckwheat. This beer will be bottled in 22oz bombers and weigh in at 7.5% ABV. Look for this sometime in 2013.

Southern Front Range

Great Storm Brewing (Colorado Springs) is taking the holiday week off. The brewery will be closed all week between Christmas and New Years Day and will re-open on January 2nd, 2013. In the meantime - enjoy your holidays!

Paradox Beer Company (Woodland Park) - Two new beer labels were recently approved for upcoming bottle releases. The first is their Non Fatal Souls - an Ameri-Belgo Stout aged in Wine Barrels and bottle conditioned. Coming in 750ml bottles. The second is called Dunk Your Face, a dark Ameri-Belgo style ale aged in wine barrels and bottle conditioned. Also to be available in 750ml bottles. Look for these early in 2013.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Tapping Cherry Awaken Stout makes the season even merrier!! Is this the year they will beat their old record and pour through all of it in under 24 minutes? Pre-Sale tix start at noon and pouring begins at 1:00pm. Remember, they close early today at 4pm and are closed all day for Christmas.

Telluride Brewing Co (Telluride) - The small ski town brewery celebrated their 1st Year Anniversary on Saturday, December 22nd and at the same time brewed up their 100th Batch of beer! Thanks to all who supported them throughout this whole year. They look forward to serving up lots of great beer in 2013.
