Colorado Beer News 011413

Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Clean Off Your Desk Day. Getting harder and harder to find an empty spot on your desk? You're not alone. We humans tend to gather a lot of "things" that tend to pile up on our desks. Use this day to get rid of, organize and de-clutter your work space. After all that work, you can reward yourself with a nice craft beer afterwards. You'll have a place to set it down on your now desk too. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, January 14th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Tonight at the brewery it's FREE BEER MONDAY - that is, if you participate in their Geeks Who Drink Pub Trivia and can earn free beer gift certificates and free pints during the event. This is their 1st ever Geeks Who Drink night - the fun starts at 6:30pm.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - Word came in over the weekend that Breckenridge-Wynkoop LLC president Ed Cerkovnik has confirmed that a new deal was soon to be finalized that would keep the brewery here in Colorado and would greatly allow them to expand their brewing business. Details on final location were not given, but promises to reveal all would be posted in another week or so. The new facility would have an initial capacity to produce 150,000 barrels with room to grow.

Breckenridge/Wynkoop has also reportedly signed a contract to open a business in downtown Fort Collins in the old Beach House restaurant location at 125 S. College Avenue. A final deal won't be finalized until February, but chances are they could open a restaurant / bar similar to their other ale houses and be ready by summer.

Denver Beer Company (Denver) - Recently, Denver Beer held a soft opening of their new adjoined Barrel Room and plan to host a public grand opening on Friday, January 18th at 7:00pm. The Barrel Room will be used primarily to host special events, but you can get a peek at this room later this week. Denver Beer Company is starting to barrel age more of their beers and needed room to expand. The additional space, along with a small gift shop, will allow them to expand capacity for brewing by 125%. If you enjoyed their Oak Aged Graham Cracker Porter, you'll love what they'll be doing in the barrel room.
