Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Hat Day. There's all kinds of them out there - big ones, fuzzy ones, outrageous and funny ones. This is your day to wear your favorite hat and show it to the world! Why not wear it to the tasting room today when you stop for a craft beer? After all, it's kinda cold out there anyway here in Colorado and you could probably use it. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, January 15th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Golden City Brewery (Golden) - Remember last summer when they ran out of beer? Well, they don't want you to, that's why GCB is taking steps today to install a new walk-in cooler so that they can increase their beer production. That should help keep the beer flowing all year round!

Denver Beer Co (Denver) - A few spots are still left for their Barrel Room's Inaugural Beer Dinner on Friday, January 18th at 7:00pm. Cost is $60/pp for a beer and food experience to remember. Call 303.433.2739 for reservations.

Boulder County

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - News from the tap room: On Wednesday, January 16th, Wild Woods will release the next beer in their Cabin Fever Series, a 9.3% Imperial Stout, and Ablaze Food Truck will be there! And on Thursday, the Cheese Louise Food Truck will be hanging out! They are open tonight 4-9pm, with plenty of the River Rock Brown Ale left.

Upslope Brewing Co (Boulder) - Upslope is throwing a Warren Miller party in the tap room on Saturday, January 19th at 5pm. They will be screening Miller's 63rd film, "Flow State". Upslope will also be auctioning off a brand new pair of skis, a GoPro camera, Warren Miller gear, a private party in the tap room and more. The film will start at 7pm.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - Oskar Blues has a new beer in cans, but you won't be able to buy it at stores. Their new Oskar Blues IceyPA, a white IPA, will only be available in 16oz cans in a special promotion at Old Chicago restaurants in Colorado as part of the I Love Beer tour promo. The promo begins this Wednesday, January 16th.

Northern Colorado

Crabtree Brewing Company (Greeley) - What could make a Tuesday even better? How about $3 Pint Tuesdays! All day long you can get all your favorite Crabtree beers for just $3 a pint. Check out their new taproom if you haven't been to Greeley lately!

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - You may already have heard that Verboten opened it's doors last week, but what you may not know is that they will be hosting an official Grand Opening celebration coming up on Saturday, February 2nd. They plan to have even more beers on tap plus a couple of local food trucks to help fill your belly. Stay tuned for details on their G.O. party. Verboten is located at: 1550 Taurus Court in Loveland, CO. In other news from Verboten, in attempts to head off any Strange Brewing-like litigation, Verboten just obtained a trademark co-existence agreement from Weyerbacher brewery who owned the name Verboten for one of their beers. Verboten Brewing in Loveland can keep their name! (Now if only the Strange Brewing case could end in similar fashion.)

New Belgium Brewing (Ft. Collins) - In a Press Release issued today, New Belgium announced that they have acquired 100% of all company stock and are now totally Employee owned!

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - Attendees at the Big Beers Festival got to try it and soon you will too. They packaged the 1st round of their Dark Prophet earlier this week and are now waiting to set an official release date. Look for it to be out on draft and in bottles sometime in the next few weeks.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Looks what's out in bottles! Their beer The Noble One is now available at stores around Windsor. Look for it. Also, tomorrow's special Wednesday firkin will be a Whiskey Honey Red. This taps at opening and goes until it's all gone. Try one!

Southern Front Range

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Pssst. The hoodies are in! They just got a new shipment of Trinity hoodies in both men's and women's. Get them before they run out again and stay for the beer and great food.

Mountains and West

Big Beers Festival CoverageBig Beers Festival (Vail) - The dust has settled on the 2013 Big Beers Festival and Fermentedly Challenged has posted a 2-post review of the festival, side events and seminars - all with lots of pictures. A chilly, but wild time was had by all who participated. There were lots of tasty seminars, parties and of course the main tasting session. Check out the coverage here and here.

Ska Brewing (Durango) - The annual Durango Independent Film Festival brew is almost ready! Join in at Ska Brewing January 23, 2013 at 5:30pm for a little celebration. Movie trivia, prizes and of course BEER! They'll be pouring their new beer - Insubstantial Pale Ale too.

Eddyline Brewing (Buena Vista) - Come join in at the Brewery at 102 Linderman, at 5 p.m. tonight for the official tapping of their Cranberry Saison. You'll get $3 pints all evening long, as well as special food pairings. Come in from the cold and get a winter warming saison!

Bars, Restaurants and Misc.

Choice City Butcher & Deli (Ft. Collins) - Tomorrow night, January 16th at 5pm, come meet the brewers of Telluride Brewing Company at Choice City. Their celebrating the arrival of Telluride Brewing beers to Fort Collins. They'll be tapping Bridal Veil Pale Ale and their Fishwater Double IPA at this tapping event. Come get a taste of the Western Slope.
