Colorado Beer NewsHappy Hump Day! The week is half over and the weekend is now within our grasp. The breweries are all busy making great craft beer and the news from the taprooms just keep coming. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, January 16th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Renegade Brewing Company (Denver) - Renegade has been busy putting more of their beer into 16oz cans and they are about to release more of their beers in that package. On January 23rd they'll be releasing 5:00 Afternoon Ale in cans and on January 30th they'll release Elevation Tripel IPA in cans. And to celebrate all this they're throwing a party on Thursday, January 31st at the brewery where you can get some great deals on cans, drafts and happiness.

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Denver) - Collaboration beers are all the rage and Crooked Stave is doing another one of them. This week they are up at Anchorage Brewing Company in Alaska making a 100% Brett beer and putting them into large Foeders. Stay tuned for word on when this collaborative brew is available.

Lone Tree Brewing Company (Lone Tree) - Today LTBC just tapped their "Porterlicious" Imperial Porter. This was a super small nano batch of beer so grab one while it lasts. It'll be gone soon.

Arvada Beer Co (Arvada) - The air smells great around Olde Town Arvada today as Dennis has been brewing up their Olde Ale. This is a big 9% ABV brew with very little hops added. It'll be ready in a month or so. In the meantime - Happy Hour all day today - get $1 off all pints and snifters. They have 12 beers on tap.

Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - Big news! The first cans of beer have rolled off the new production line today at the 2nd brewery location. This marks a major milestone in the expansion of Dry Dock Brewing. Congrats to Dry Dock for gettin' 'er done! The new 30,000 square foot $4.5 million facility will have a capacity of around 60,000 barrels a year. A tasting room and gift shop at the new location will eventually be opened next year.

Cannonball Creek Brewing Co (Golden) - This Saturday, January 19th, 2013 at 3:00pm marks the grand opening of Cannonball Creek Brewing Company. The brewery is located at 393 N. Washington Avenue in Golden, CO. They plan to have 4 of their brews on tap for opening day (to be announced).

Boulder County

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) - Single but don't have time for dating? This Valentine's Day, converse with strangers for 4 minutes at a time, then potentially never see them again. "Oh, love". It's Twisted Pine's Twisted Speed Dating on February 14th, 2013 from 6:45pm to 8:00pm. It's FREE for ages 21 to 34. You'll get a complimentary Razzy Xpress samples while you're speed dating. Bootstrap Brewing (Niwot) - This Saturday, owners Steve and Leslie will be on the air with John Turk and Chris Katechis on the Colorado Craft Beer Show between 12:00pm and 1:00pm. Tune in to AM 760 (Denver) to listen in and catch up on all the latest at Bootstrap!

Fate Brewing Co (Boulder) - The brewery just completed obtaining a $900,000 investment funding. The last $195,000 just came in last week. Fate expects to open for business by the end of January of this year (soon). Inside the brewery, there will be seating room for about 200 people and nearly double that when their patio opens. They plan to have 30 tap lines with about 12 of their own beers and several guest taps.

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - It's a beautiful summer-like day inside at their indoor beer garden today. Come visit and enjoy today's firkin - a Whiskey Honey Red- to be tapped at 5:00pm. Chaulkboard Gourmet Express will be out at 4:30 too!

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - This week's featured keg tapping for the week is their Citrus Polaris - a Single Hop Polaris infused with lemon peel, orange peel and grapefruit peel. Come "peel" a pour for yourself!

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Wednesdays are Logo Mug - Mason Jar Nights! Bring in (or purchase) your Big Beaver mug or jar and your first fill is on them! Then save it for the next week!
