Colorado Beer NewsToday is Curmudgeos Day. It's an annual celebration of the crusty, yet insightful, wags who consistently apply the needle of truth to the balloons of hypocrisy and social norms. Celebrated on the birthday of W.C. Fields, one of America's most beloved curmudgeons. He was also one of Hollywood's most famous movie drunks. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, January 29th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - If you're heading to Denver for the SnowSports Industries America trade show then go pick up a So Gnar x Breckenridge Brewery can cooler. These will be given away to the first 200 people during the Shredded Beasts show at Cervantes Masterpiece Ballroom this Saturday, February 2nd. The show is a celebration of snow sports culture and features national and local music acts.

Wynkoop Brewing Company (Denver) - Trivia is coming to the Wynkoop. Wednesday night at 8:30pm they'll be hosting Geeks Who Drink for the 1st time. Enjoy beer-blessed trivial geekdom and $10 Wynkoop pitchers.

Denver Beer Co (Denver) - Looking for a place to stay and watch the Big Game on Sunday? Denver Beer Company has you covered. They will have a pre-game party in the brewery and then turn the game on in the Barrel Room with the large screen projector. Barrel Room doors open at 3pm so come early to get a seat. Plenty of tapped beers and snacks available - so wear your stretchy pants.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Time for another special firkin! On Wednesday, January 30th from 3pm to 9pm (or when the firkin kicks), Copper Kettle will be tapping their Jasmine IPA. It's a limited run so get a pint quick.

Boulder County

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) and Fate Brewing Company (Boulder) announce the release of a collaboration beer called: Eastside Extra Pale. It's at 7% ABV and brewed with 100% Belma hops and a touch of orange zest. Available at 4pm today at Wild Woods and next week at the Fate Brewing grand opening.

Bootstrap Brewing (Niwot) - There's a special tapping going on today. Their "Red Beerd" has been aged in a rm barrel. They will be pouring 10oz glasses of this tiny batch of special beer. Red + Rum = Yum! Just don't tell that to Jack Nicholson.

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - This Wednesday, January 30th, at High Hops they will be tapping another special Humpday Firkin. This time it's "Whiskey Oak Stout". Thurday the 31st will be Open Mic Night with Jordan Price at 5:30pm. Bring your talent to show off on stage. The Giggling Greek truck will be on site to serve up some of the best Greek food around. Then on Friday, February 1st, Blue Grama blue grass will be playing from 6pm to 8pm and the Wing Shack will have some tasty wings for sale. Saturday features Bedrock BBQ. All weekend just for the Big Game they will offer up 10% off keg orders Saturday and Sunday.

Echo Brewing (Frederick) - Trivia fans - tonight is another session from 7pm to 9pm. The Orange Crunch will be serving food from 5pm to 8pm-ish and the special tonight is Smoked Elk German. Oh yes, plenty of fresh beer on tap to wash it down with too.

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - Tonight bring music from Franklin Taggart starting at 5pm. If you buy an Aleworks t-shirt today, they will treat you to a pint on the house. If you wear your existing Aleworks t-shirt in today, they'll take $1 off your beers all day long. Bonus: Food available from Chaulkboard Gourmet Express featuring tacos, burgers and more!

Mountains and West

Revolution Brewing (Paonia) - Music is back at Revolution Brewing after a month hiatus. Starting in February they'll be offering live music at the brewery twice a week on Wednesday's and Thursday's. Music starts around 5:30pm in the tasting room at 325 Grand Avenue in Paonia, CO. Open mic night is the first Thursday of every month.

Bars, Restaurants and Misc.

Hops & Pie (Denver) - On Friday, February 1st at 6pm, Hops & Pie will host another Firkin 1st Friday. February's firkin will be a special treat from Crooked Stave - Surette Saison - barrel-aged with Hibiscus & Cinnamon. This wood aged farmhouse ale is brewed with malted barley, wheat, oats, rye and spelt. Surette was fermented and aged in large oak foeders with Brett and Lacto naturally present. Post fermentation cinnamon & hibiscus were added then transferred to a 10 gallon downslope whiskey barrel for another bout of aging. This wild ale weighs in around 6.5% ABV and will lend some warming characteristics for a brisk February 1st.

Star Bar (Denver) - Tonight at the Star Bar on Larimer in Denver will be a #DenverTweetup and "Can Do" MS Fundraiser starting at 6:00pm. Come meet the virtual people you tweet in person in support of Team Teledu and Can Do MS. Donate $6 to receive two complimentary 12oz beers from Dry Dock Brewing. 100% of the proceeds go to Can Do MS. Guilt free beer, the best social media people, and a great cause. No excuse not to be there.
