Colorado Beer News 013013

Colorado Beer NewsHumpdays give us hope. How? Wednesday marks a milestone in the week that says your workweek is halfway over and the weekend will soon be here. Celebrate that! And what better way to do so than to visit your favorite taproom at the end of your day. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, January 30th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Every Wednesday, Copper Kettle will offer up a new, rotating firkin on the hand pump. Check and Like their Facebook page for the firkin schedule or sign up for their "Weekly Cask Update" on their web site for details. Today's cask is a Jasmine IPA. It taps at 3:00pm! Also, don't forget - on Fridays they now open at 12 noon!

Arvada Beer Company (Arvada) - Stop in today for Happy Hour pricing all day long. On Friday, they'll release A.L. Old Ale - a 9.1% ABV 20 IBU malty brew with lots of body and just enough hops to balance the sweetness. Mug Club members can sample it starting today.

De Steeg Brewing (Denver) - Denver will get another brewery on Friday as De Steeg Brewing opens it's doors on February 1st for the first time. They play to have 3, possibly 4 beers on tap for their Grand Opening including: Pomegranate Acai Wheat (5.5% ABV), an English Mild on nitro (5.1% ABV) and a big Imperial Pumpkin Ale (11% ABV). Located in the back alley side of 4342 Tennyson Street. Look for the black and white sign!

Wynkoop Brewing Company (Denver) - Come celebrate Mardi Gras season at the Koop with a Rum & Beer Dinner on February 7th at 6:30pm. Wynkoop is planning a 5 course meal and pairing a rum and beer with each course. Cost is $45 per person. Reservations required: 303.297.9999.

Parry's Pizzeria & Bar (Highlands Ranch) - Celebrate Groundhog Day a day early this Friday, February 1st at their Highland's Ranch location. Woodchuck Hard Cider will be on hand pouring some of their classic hard ciders and passing out prizes for those that guess right as to whether the groundhog will see his shadow this year. The Woodchuck event runs from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Don't forget to get some great food and test some of their 50 beers on tap.

Boulder County

Atom Brewing Company (Erie) - The owners are still negotiating the final details of their business with the Town of Erie, Colorado for the proposed location of 600 Briggs Street. Once that is complete, they plan to get to the board for final approval, get the keys to the building and begin construction. Atom Brewing is targeting a June 2013 opening. More details as they become available.

Mountain Sun (Boulder) - February is coming and that means one thing. STOUT MONTH! All month long at all three locations (Southern Sun, Mountain Sun and Vine Street Pub & Brewery) they will be offering up a huge line-up of the best, darkest stout beers around. New stouts will be released all throughout the month including several old favorites. Get ready to give into the dark side of beer and enjoy a stout during Stout Month.

Northern Colorado

New Belgium (Fort Collins) - New Belgium just put out a great new 2-minute+ promotional video that showcases their operations in Fort Collins and also give a peak at their new Asheville location. Check out the video below or watch it directly on YouTube. Watch closely as the images tend to change rapidly.

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Now that they've been open for a couple weeks, Verboten Brewing wants to officially throw a Grand Opening Celebration and everyone's invited! On Saturday, February 2nd from 1:00pm to 9:00pm stop in for some tasty new beers, live music, giveaways, beer cupcakes and a fun time for all. Two food truck will be parked outside as well. Some new beer releases will be coming out that day as well.

Southern Front Range

BiersWerks Brewery (Woodland Park) - Tickets are now on sale for the Winter Beer Fest in Woodland Park slated for February 16th, 2013 from 2pm to 6pm. Cost if $15 online or $30 at the door (so get them early). Nine+ breweries are expected to participate in the event to be held in the Woodland Park Cultural Center.

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Today's special - get $1 off all Jug fills today. Jugs to go - New $12 and Refills $7. Get over the hump with a jug fill and your favorite Bristol brew!

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - The brewery is planning to hold a Beer & Cupcake pairing event on Thursday, February 7th from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. Tickets for this event will be $10 in advance and can be obtained by calling 970.925.3009. This event will sell out fast so call soon. Three different beers will be paired with 3 different cupcake treats.

SnownDown Festival (Durango) - Starting today and running through Sunday February 3rd - Durango's SnowDown festival! Now in its 35th year! A long time ago back in 1979 the Land of Durango was covered in winter's darkness and the People and Commerce were depressed. A great lament was heard throughout the Land, as the days were short and bore little fruit. And so it came to pass one dark day The Founder John Murrah, heard this hue and cry. He enjoined the Lords of Business and the Lords of Information Dissemination that a winter celebration would bring Enterprise to the land and raise up the people in their time of need. Then the Founder said to the people, "Let there be FUN!" And SNOWDOWN was established as a winter Fun celebration. This year's theme is "Get Your Geek On". Dolores River Brewery (Dolores) - This Saturday night! Help the brewery celebrate 11 years of great beer, great music, and great community! They are hosting a Mod/psychedelic dress up dance party at the pub featuring the Beatles tribute band, Dr. Robert! The music starts at 8:00 pm and NO COVER! Just fun and appreciation! (And great beer too)

Pug Ryan's Steakhouse & Brewery (Dillon) - Tonight is a concert and fundraiser at Lord of the Mountains Church for Leon Littlebird, who is battling leukemia. Many of his musician friends are playing ( Arnie J Green, John Truscelli, Moe Dixon, Len Rhodes, Pine Beetles, Dewey Paul Moffit and Jeff Shook). These musician are gathering at Pug Ryan's following the concert, and they will donate half of the beer sales during that time to Leon's medical fund. Come hear some great music and have cold beer while supporting longtime local Leon Joseph Littlebird.
