Colorado Beer NewsToday is Hula in the Coola Day. Let's face it, we're all getting tired of the cold weather. We could all use some heat! Why not dress up in your favorite Hawaiian shirt or hula skirt today, head outside and dance like it's mid-summer! After that, head inside for a nice winter warmer and dream about 80 degree days. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, February 1st, 2013.

Metro Denver

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - It's Stout Month and Brewery Rickoli will have some of their taps at all 3 Mountain Sun locations just for the occasion. Also stop by the brewery and try one of their 12 delicious beers on tap.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - It's official! Breckenridge Brewery has found a new 12-acre location in Littleton, CO and has revealed plans to build a huge new facility and open in 2014. Read all about it in today's Press Release. This brewery will allow them to continue to grow as their operation in Denver has been at capacity for some time now. Their current Kalamath location in Denver will be sold off to another brewery yet to be named.

Parry's Pizza (Highlands Ranch/Castle Rock) - The $3 Pints for the month of February at Highlands Ranch and Castle Rock are Great Divide Brewing Co.'s Titan IPA, New Belgium Brewing's Shift, Ft. Collins Brewery's 1900, Big Sky Moose Drool and Woodchuck Cider's Amber Cider. Ale Yeah!

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Denver) - Just this week Crooked Stave posted new taproom hours. They are now open Tuesday through Sunday. Also today, they held a groundbreaking ceremony at the Source - their new location for their permanent brewery. Crooked Stave has been making all of their beers at other breweries since day 1 and now it won't be too much longer until they can brew their beer in their own facilities. Stay tuned to more as their construction progresses.

Boulder County

Mountain Sun (Boulder) - Stout Month is here! The entire month of February is Stout Month at Vine Street Pub & Brewery, Southern Sun and Mountain Sun. They have 13 incredible stouts from all over Colorado. Look for new and changing stout taps all month long. Betcha can't sample them all! Also, don't forget to visit their newest eatery - Under the Sun Eatery and Taphouse located directly 1 floor below the Southern Sun in Boulder.

Northern Colorado

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Don't forget that today is Free Beer Friday starting at 2pm. The free beer will be their Potent Pecker Pilsner. Also, they will be releasing their Heart Warmer Cherry Saison.

Grimm Bros The Bleeding HeartGrimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - The City of Loveland's official Valentine's Day beer - The Bleeding Heart Coffee Porter - will be officially tapped today at the Grimm Bros taproom today at noon. This brew was made with coffee from a local Loveland coffee shop and will only be available on tap and in bottles for a limited time. Grab one and share it with your special Valentine this year.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Great fun on tap for your Friday night. Blue Grama Bluegrass will be playing in the beer garden from 6pm to 8pm and the Wing Shack will be serving up their awesome chicken wings. Plenty of great beer on tap. Get ready also for their 1st Annual Firkin Fest coming up on Friday, February 8th starting at noon. Also, in other news, High Hops Brewery is expanding this weekend. Zach Weakland will be installing two new 30-barrel fermenters this weekend. This expansion will nearly double its capacity to up to 2,000bbls per year.

Black Bottle Brewery (Fort Collins) - After being open for just 2 months, Black Bottle is already feeling growing pains with keeping up with demand for their beer. Sean Nook ordered two 15-barrel fermenters that will boost capacity to nearly double their original. Look for even more Black Bottle beer to fill the tap lines very soon.

Southern Front Range

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - January was a great month for Trinity. They broke ground on their 200 square foot oak barrel & wild beer room, and also brewed a collaboration brew with Peter Bouckaert of New Belgium. Today, they release their Red Swingline IPA Primitif (sour/wild beer) in bottles for the 1st time. Tomorrow, Feb. 2nd, is the 1st Saturday Firkin day and will feature Flo IPA with sweet orange peel. Then on Friday, Feb. 8th Whiskey Barrel Chilly Water Baltik Porter returns to the taps at 5pm. Valentine's Day will reveal their imperial stout - Passed Stout made with milk chocolate and vanilla beans at 5pm. Lots more still to come in February!

Phantom Canyon Two Headed DogPhantom Canyon (Colorado Springs) is pleased to announce that they will soon be releasing their Phantom Canyon Two Headed Dog Imperial IPA on both tap and in 22oz bottles. Look for this the next time you're at their taproom or favorite local store around Colorado Springs.

Mountains and West

Eddyline Brewing Company (Buena Vista) - Here's some great deals for the Big Game. Eddyline will be open at 102 Linderman and offering up 1/2 price appetizers and $3 pints during the game this Sunday. They will also be doing Take-out - any take-&-bake pizza plus a growler or 6-pack for $20.

San Luis Valley Brewing (Alamosa) - Did you know? The Colorado Beer Train will roll to La Veta, CO this Saturday, February 2nd and will be loaded with great brews from Ska, Rocky Mountain Brewery, Shamrock Brewing, Three Barrel Brewing and the San Luis Valley Brewing Company. The train is offering a "Buy One, Get One Free" on tickets for that. Enjoy the winter views and brews and board the Rio Grande Scenic Railroad. Tickets available at or call 877.726.7245. - Also, SLVBC is excited to announce a new brew to be released next week. New Belgium Brewing has a wonderful winter seasonal called -2 Below, but they figured that just isn't quite right for Alamosa. So, in keeping with their local focus (and temps.) they've used a Bedford English Ale yeast to create "-32 BELOW"; an English Style Strong Ale. It should be ready for quaffing on Wednesday, Feb. 6th, so come get out of the cold and try this new winter warmer brew!

Bars, Restaurants and Misc.
