Colorado Beer NewsToday is Fat Tuesday. It's a day to indulge and feast before the start of the Lenten season. Celebrate Mardi Gras today and enjoy a pint of good local craft beer wherever you are today. Toast to the outgoing Pope! Just remember not to over do it, after all, it still is the middle of the work week. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, February 12th, 2013. Many Colorado brewpubs are serving up a wide variety of Mardi Gras feasts today. Consider eating at one of your favorites.

Metro Denver

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - On Valentine's Day, stop in for a taste of Rudolph's Revenge, a Raspberry Pomegranate Porter. Or, perhaps you'd enjoy a pint of their Strawberry Hefeweizen from the firkin. Tomorrow, they'll be tapping an old recipe fashioned after a beer that Benjamin Franklin would have enjoyed - Poor Richard's Ale. Tonight, come in for a pint and listen to the sounds of Old Herman - a tap room favorite on acoustic.

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - Tonight at 4:00pm is the release of Yak & Yeti's (Yakety Yak) Don't Talk Bock - a 6.3% ABV 24 IBU Bock. At 5:00pm, an ordained minister will be on hand for the official "Blessing of the Bock". Also, while you're there, check out their latest decor addition - a hand-carved and burned barrel top featuring the Yak & Yeti logo.

Wynkoop Brewing Co (Denver) - Join in the annual Mardi Gras Parade today that starts at the Wazee Supper Club and winds its way down to the Wynkoop. Roll with the keg down the streets and then enjoy Cajun fare and Wynkoop's Big Easy Ale. It taps at 6:00pm.

Copper Kettle Brewing Co (Denver) - Tomorrow, during Firkin Wednesday, CKBC will feature a Double IPA with Double the Hops! The firkin taps at 3:00pm and lasts until 9:00pm (or when the firkin kicks). Stop in at 1338 S. Valentia Street Unit 100 in Denver and try a pint.

Elk Mountain Brewing (Parker) - Today, Elk Mountain is offering up a Tappan Irish Red at 3 o'clock. And tomorrow, they'll be tapping a Wednesday firkin - a Raspberry Brown. Join in!

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - The fame of Breck beers continues to grow. Their beers are now available in San Diego, California. Their brews will be distributed there by Craft Beer Guild Distributing of California.

Boulder County

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) - Just for Fat Tuesday - stop in and try a free Raspberry Wheat jello shot. They go great with their jambalaya and dirty rice special. They've also just tapped their Antelope Porter, brewed with ginger, orange peel and American hops. This 8.5% small batch won't last long!

Bootstrap Brewing Co (Niwot) - Bootstrap is a proud, enthusiastic sponsor of the Boulder County Bombers (Roller Derby). Their first bout is on February 23rd at 7:30pm at the Boulder County Fairgrounds against the Pueblo Derby Devil Dolls. Great fun - great cause and great beer. Please show your support.

Northern Colorado

The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Inside the brewery over at the Gravity 1020 Modern Tavern, they're planning to bring Fat Tuesday to the Front Range witha special Cajun-creole menu of crawfish etouffe, red beans and rice, and a shrimp boil tonight. You can get Haws Brew Cream Ale pints for just $2, or get a taste of Bourbon Street with $5 Hurricanes and Mint Juleps.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Tomorrow's Wednesday Firkin will be available for 3 days! Stop in and try the special Chocolate Cherry Porter infused with Damiana (ancient Mayan aphrodisiac). They'll offer special firkin growler fills on February 14th for $14. Open Mic Night returns on Valentine's Day. Use that opportunity to serenade your special someone. Sign up to perform in the Hop Hut. Performances start at 5:30pm through 7:30pm. Food will be available nightly.

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - For all you English brown drinkers - Crabtree now has their Boxcar Brown Ale back on draft at the taproom. Stop in and get re-acquainted again.

Southern Front Range

BierWerks Brewery (Woodland Park) - Tickets for the 3rd Annual Winter Beer Fest are still on sale until midnight Friday night. If you buy tickets ahead of time for $15 you'll save $15 off the door price. The fest is this Saturday from 2-6pm at the Ute Pass Cultural Center in Woodland Park.

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Looking for a Mardi Gras feast? For $20, get a plate of crawfish boil with andouille sausage, potatoes, corn and onions AND 2 pints of Crazy Mountain Beer! You have to hit up Hooked Restaurant in Beaver Creek before 9pm today and eat your fill.

Bars, Restaurants and Misc.

Hops & Pie (Denver) - Today's special tappings: - Galaxy Single Hop from Flying Dog Brewery, an Imperial IPA made exclusively with Galaxy hops from Australia. Also, Burton Baton from Dogfish Head, an oak aged blend of an English-tyle old ale and an Imperial IPA. Pair those with the Slice of the Day - Roasted Garlic, Spinach and Ricotta Pizza or the Soup of the Day - Split Pea & Ham.
