Colorado Beer News 031313

Colorado Beer NewsToday is Good Samaritan Involvment Day. This is a day to showcase the importance of giving unselfish aid to those in need. If you see someone who needs help today please stop and do them a favor. Who knows, you might just help save a life. Also, cheers to the new Pope Francis! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, March 13th, 2013.

Metro Denver

53 Peaks Brewing Co (Morrison) - This brewery has been making plans for a couple years now and has decided to locate their brewery in Morrison, CO. Jason Conger told Fermentedly Challenged that they hope to locate either in downtown Morrison or near Bear Creek Road and be open by January 2014. They hope to be a "full on" microbrewery specializing in great tasting, unique craft beer. They plan to run a Kickstarter campaign in the coming weeks - stay tuned for how you can participate.

Yak & Yeti Restaurant & Brewpub (Arvada) - The second Wednesday of each month is Game Night at Yak & Yeti from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. Stop by and head to Room A on the 1st floor. They are open to new players who haven’t even heard of these games but would like to learn, as well as gamers who are more advanced. There will be several games and tables of people to chose from. Some of the games people play are Settlers of Catan, Dominion, Sentinels, Multiverse, Munchkin, Magic, Alhambra, and Stone Age. You can bring your own games or just show up to meet new people and learn a new game. They'll keep the taps cold for you.

Great Divide Brewing Co (Denver) - Excuse their construction! Great Divide is expanding once again and perhaps for the last time at their current location in Denver. New fermenter tanks are being installed starting today. Once in, this will put their facility at maximum capacity. Any further expansion will force them to relocate to a bigger place. This expansion should last them for at least 3 more years. After that? Who knows!

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - Today on the tap wall Brewery Rickoli has put up two stouts - Rye Stout and The Thrilla In Vanilla. They have 15 beers on tap today including their "Disturbed Reflection" on the beer engine. Stop in for a try!

Boulder County

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - Take your bike to Avery Brewing and visit the Bike Doctor at today's bike clinic. Walk-ins are welcome. For $10 you'll get access to the doctors, a free pint of Avery beer, chance to win some rad prizes and half-price Community Cycles memberships. Starts today at 5:00pm. Be sure to check out the beer selection in the tap room! Check the Oskar Blues entry below for a special place you can now find Avery canned beer at? (It may surprise you).

Home Made Liquids & Solids (Longmont) - On Friday evening March 22nd, Oskar Blues HML&S will host a Grimm Brothers Brewhouse Tap Takeover. Russell from Grimm Brothers in Loveland, CO will be there to talk beer and host giveaways as he features a full array of Grimm Bros beers on tap including a hard to find specialty.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - Their new brewery in Brevard, North Carolina has only been open for 3 months, but they are already producing at full capacity! What now? Simple, they are planning to expand. They are adding six more tanks in the coming weeks. Seems like the east coast loves OB beer just as much as we do here. (New Belgium take note!) In other news, did you know that Oskar Blues and Avery Brewing beers were recently shipped to the thirsty folks in Antarctica? Seems like the researchers down there wanted some good craft beer in cans so Avery and Oskar Blues obliged. See the full story on CraftBeer.com.
