Colorado Beer NewsToday is the Ides of March. Et tu Brew-te? Loosely translated, "You too want beer?" - Today's the day to beware, but also to celebrate the St. Patrick's Day weekend. Enjoy, but be careful out there - best not drive after celebrating. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, March 15th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Prohibition Party & Brew Fest (Denver) - Did you know that this April 7th marks the 80th anniversary of the end of prohibition? To celebrate 24+ breweries are joining together at the Oriental Theater in Denver on April 7th to host the Prohibition Party & Brewfest. There will be two sessions from 12pm-3pm and 4pm to 7pm. Arvada Beer Co (Arvada) - A reminder - tomorrow, March 16th, Grandview Avenue (out front) will be closed from 12pm to 6pm and they will have a stage with 4 live bands, arts and craft vendors, lots of food, and of course beer out in the street. ABC will be pouring green beer as well as their Irish Red outside! 9 beers on tap will be available inside, with Happy Hour until 7pm. One of the Best St. Patrick's Day celebrations in the Denver Area is there in Historic Olde Town Arvada!

Littlest Big Barrel Aged Beer FestHops & Pie (Denver) - You've heard of their monthly Littlest Big Beer Fests, but have you heard of their upcoming Littlest Big Barrel Aged Beer Fest? It's slated for Saturday, March 16th starting at 12pm sharp! They'll be tapping several barrel-aged Colorado brews including: Great Divide Bourbon Barrel Aged Hibernation, Renegade Brewing's Bourbon Barrel Aged Cherub Rock, Oskar Blues' Bourbon Barrel Aged Ten Fidy, River North's Bourbon Barrel Aged Avarice, and Odell Brewing's Bourbon Barrel Aged Mountain Standard & Lugene Blend. This is a 1 day only event. These brews were aged in first run Makers Mark barrels. Single pours & tasters will be available. Located at 3920 Tennyson Street in Denver, CO.

Boulder County

Mountain Sun (Boulder) - The warmer weather is bring out new beer and Mountain Sun is offering up their Humming Bird Braggot Ale - a malty strong ale brewing with orange blossom honey and lemongrass. It's a hybrid style of mead and beer.

West Flanders Brewing (Boulder) - Tonight West Flanders will be tapping a vary rare limited edition sour ale tonight at 5:00pm. The batch was so small that they only have roughly 50 servings of this brew. So if you want some - better get there early!

Home Made Liquids & Solids (Longmont) - This Saturday, March 16th from 1pm to 4pm, stop in for the Funk'n Wild Sour & Wild Ale Celebration - Volume IV! There will be 15 different sour and wild ales on draft. Listen to guest speaker Troy Casey from AC Golden talk about their sour program and all things sour beers! This event is located at 1555 S. Hover Road in Longmont, CO.

Northern Colorado

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - With the warmer weather this week, Verboten is setting up a temporary outdoor patio today. Enjoy it while it lasts with a glass of their new Orange Blossom Honey Wheat. Also, Ablaze Woodfired Pizzas will be on hand serving up dinner tonight.

Equinox Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Speaking of new beers, just in time for St. Patty's weekend is their Nitro Top O' The Mornin' Stout. A perfect brew to watch the parade with!

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - F.A.C. starts at noon today with dollar off pints until 3:00pm. Stop in today and try their new Bearskin Dry Stout - perfect for St. Patty's weekend. Be sure to check out the Chaulkboard Gourmet Express Bacon Cheeseburger Special too.

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - FAC today from 3-5pm with Danny Taylor live music playing. Free pizza during FAC with a beer purchase! Watch the CSU Rams play basketball on TV here tonight at 9:30pm.

Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Here's a great way to kick off Colorado Craft Beer Week. On Monday March 18th from 11am to 2pm, head over to Black Bottle Brewery for a 5 Brewery Beer Lunch. There will be 5 small lunch sized pairings with special beers from Left Hand Brewing, City Star Brewing, Dry Dock Brewing, Strange Brewing and Black Bottle Brewing. Southern Front Range

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Just in time for St. Patty's Day weekend - Trinity will be tapping their Wee Heavy Irish Heather Ale starting tomorrow. Jason is calling this beer "effin killer"! Come check out their progress on their new barrel room and stay for a beer and a bite.

Pikes Peak Brewing (Monument) - Tickets for tomorrow's (3/16) Kegs Eggs and Blarney Scones Brunch are still available. A drawing will be held tomorrow for a gift card in the amount of $27.50. Brunch includes a pint of Irish Stout (or the beer of your choosing) served in a souvenir glass with PPBC's Celtic logo, and a buffet of scrambled eggs, corned beef hash, Irish ham, bacon, sausage, baked beans, pan fried cherry tomatoes, potato pancakes and scones. Mountains and West

BREW Pub & Kitchen (Durango) - How did we miss this one? On March 7th, BREW Pub & Kitchen opened for business and became Durango's 5th business to brew it's own beer. Not only do they brew beer, but they also serve up Lunch and Dinner as well from 11am to 11pm Tuesdays through Sundays. Next time you're in Durango stop by for a visit and a pint at 117 W. Colorado Craft Beer WeekColorado Craft Beer Week (March 18 - 24, 2013) - One of the biggest week long beer celebrations around! Colorado is celebrating all things craft beer all next week starting on Monday. But with all of the St. Patrick's Day celebrations going on this weekend, it's really ending up being a 10-day celebration. There are dozens of events planned all across the state next week.
