Colorado Beer NewsToday is the Last Day of Winter. The last few breaths of Winter are almost gone and the advent of Spring is nearly upon us. Celebrate the last day of Winter by finishing up the last of your winter beers today. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, March 19th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Denver Beer Company (Denver) - There are still seats left for the upcoming Italian Beer Dinner in the Barrel Room at Denver Beer Company for this Friday, March 22nd at 6:30pm. The multi-course family-style meal will feature pairings with at least 4 Denver Beer Co brews. Contact the brewery for menu and to reserve your spot.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Bacon lovers take note! Copper Kettle is tapping a special firkin this Wednesday, March 20th at 3:00pm called Great Scot! It's a Scottish Brown Ale that was "Dry Hogged" with fresh, local bacon! Yup, the real McCoy is in the beer! Bacon! You know you want some - so get their early so you won't miss out.

Hops & Pie (Denver) - What's new on tap at Hops & Pie? How about these: Belgian Blond from Green Flash, Board Meeting Brown from Port Brewing and Myrcenary from Odell Brewing. All tapped and ready now!

Former Future Brewing Co (Denver) - James and Sarah Howat of the upcoming Former Future Brewing Company will be guests on this Saturday's Colorado Craft Beer Show on AM 760 from 1-2pm. Tune in to hear what they plan to bring to Denver. They will be giving away a pair of tickets to their April 13th tasting event on the show. Listen in to see how you might be able to snag them.

Wit's End Brewing (Denver) - Join in on Thursday (3/21) for a special horizontal tasting of their One series! They have reserved kegs of the Columbus and Tettnang versions to go along with the release of the newest addition to the One Series — Cascade! You’ll be able to sample these beers side-by-side to experience how each of these hops express themselves in the beer. Then on Friday 3/22, they are bringing out a hidden keg of their beloved golden strong ale Dim Mak. They will tap that at 2pm Friday when they open.

Parrys PizzaParry's Pizza (Greenwood Village) - On Monday, April 1st (no fooling) Parry's Pizzeria & Bar will be throwing open the doors of its newest location in Greenwood Village, CO. This is the fourth location of Parry’s Pizzeria & Bar with others existing in Parker, Castle Rock and Highlands Ranch. New York style pizza is the cornerstone of Parry’s but calzones, wings, pasta, hot sandwiches, salads and desserts also grace the menu. Continuing in the vein of the Parry’s in Highlands Ranch, this location will also have 50 craft beers on draft with daily keg rotations. A spacious patio in front of the restaurant will make for some very nice Colorado afternoons while enjoying a pie and a pint. Craft beer events will be steadily rolled out at this location, especially as the warm months approach. Events include tap takeovers, pint glass nights, Ale to the Women pairing dinners, firkins and surprise pourings.

Boulder County

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - With the opening of their 2nd brewery in North Carolina comes additional opportunities to expand business. Oskar Blues announced earlier this week that they are planning to expand distribution of their beer to the state of Indiana. Talks are underway and if successful, Oskar Blues may begin shipping to Indiana as early as late Spring or earl Summer. Also - stop by one of their CO Craft Beer Week events today - Oskar Blues Tap Takeover @ Blake Street Vault (Denver) 6pm, Craft Madness @ Buffalo Wild Wings (Brighton) 5-7pm, Collaboration Beer Dinner @ Pourhouse (Loveland) 6pm. Plus special tappings at Home Made Liquids & Solids. There will also be a Mr. Robusto Porter tapping today at their place in Lyons, CO.

J Wells Brewery (Boulder) - A new beer format is coming to J Wells very soon. In the weeks to come, you'll be able to order a beer in their new Half Yard of Ale glassware. Yup, it's a full 32oz of beer in a glass so tall it needs a stand! Stay tuned for availability.

Very Nice Brewing Co (Nederland) - On Saturday, March 23rd from 12pm to 1:30pm stop in for "Pints & Poses". This is an all-levels yoga class and includes a pint of beer…all for $10. Contact the brewery to RSVP as space is limited. Listen to live music on March 22nd and 23rd with Jonny Hazard starting at 6pm.

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Tomorrow's Wednesday Firkin is "Vanilla Thrilla", a Vanilla Cream Ale that will tap at 5:00pm. Then, coming up on Friday, March 22nd will be their Spring Equinox Party starting at 6pm featuring a special release of their Whiskey Barrel Aged Noble One. There will be 3 different musical performances from 6pm to close and plenty of food from Bedrock BBQ (weather permitting). This summer, High Hops will be joined by the Croft Family Farm Farm Stand that will be located out in the parking lot offering the best locally grown organic fruits and vegetables. Look for them.

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - This Saturday, March 23rd from 6-9pm the music duo of Sharon Glassman and Grant McIntosh are hosting "Classic 'n Quirky" Country BINGO in the City Star taproom. Win prizes including food, yoga classes, skincare products and of course - City Star beer!

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Grats - we all survived another St. Paddy's Day! And to celebrate - they are offering up $5 growler fills of their Legends beers in one of their growlers. Listen to some toe-tapping banjo music playing from 3-6pm today too.

Patrick's Irish Pub (Greeley) - COLORADO CRAFT BEER WEEK has begun and Patrick's is here to help you celebrate our home state brewers: Get a flight of 4 CO beers (~5.5oz pours) for only $2.50 limit 1 flight per person. Each day of the week Patrick's will highlight an awesome Colorado brew by selling it at half price - here's the schedule: Tues: Avery's Salvation $2.50, Wed: Loveland Alework's Imperial Stout: $2.50, Thurs: Oscar Blues's Nitro Smidy: $3.25 (20oz), Friday: Left Hand's Twin Sisters: $2.50, Sat: Odell's IPA: $2.50 (20oz), Sun: Grimm Brothers' Master Thief: $2.50 (20oz). The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - During the recent round of the Beverage Tasting Institute's World Beer Championships, FCB received several honors. Their "Doppel Bock" received a score of 97 (platinum) tied for best in the world. Their Rocky Mountain IPA brought in a silver medal with a score of 86. And their Obsessed Barley Wine took home a score of 95 (gold). You can currently try their Doppel Bock and Rocky Mountain IPA on tap at the FCP taproom and they are holding onto some Obsessed to share later on.

Southern Front Range

Phantom Canyon Brewing (Colorado Springs) - For today's Colorado Craft Beer Week special, PCBC is offering their Cherry Imperial Stout at Happy Hour prices all day long today. What a better brew to celebrate the last day of Winter with!

KB Kraft Beer (Colorado Springs) - Tuesday is dollar off pint day at KB Kraft Beer. Thursday is dollar off all growlers and because they support our troops Friday is Military Appreciation Day, dollar off for active and retired. Currently on tap Alt Ale, IPA, Wheat, Magnum Ale, Blonde Ale and our Brown Dry Ale.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Sour lovers take note: Old Growth is coming back. After not having the space or time to brew their ultra sour beer for the last 2 years, Trinity is back brewing their first full size batch in on schedule for this week in their brew house. Betcha can't wait til it's ready!

Mountains and West

Blues, Brews & BBQ (Beaver Creek) - Tickets go on sale this Friday, March 22nd for the 10th annual Blues, Brews & BBQ festival at Beaver Creek Village to be held on Saturday and Sunday, May 25-26, 2013. Join in as visiting chefs from all over the country as well as Vail Valley favorites serve up delicious BBQ while live entertainment rocks Beaver Creek Village. And of course, plenty of microbrews from across the country for your sampling pleasure. More info on this festival here.

Telluride Brewing Co (Telluride) - Not going to be in Telluride during Colorado Craft Beer Week? No problem! You can still get some Telluride Brewing beer at several TBC events across Colorado this week: Today 3/19 - Under the Sun (Boulder) 6-7pm and West End Tavern (Boulder) 6-9pm. Wednesday 3/20 - Home Made Liquids & Solids (Longmont) 6-9pm, Thursday 3/21 - Tomboy Tavern (Telluride) 3-6pm, Freshcraft (Denver) 7-9pm, Park House (Denver) - 10 to close, Saturday 3/23 - The Lobby (Denver) 9 to close, and Sunday 3/24 - Kannah Creek Brewery (Grand Junction) 2-6pm.

Amicas (Salida) - What pairs well with their Veggie Enchilada Soup today? Easy! It's their Green Chile Ale. Their special soup of the day is topped with tortilla crisps, sour cream and green chilies. Stop in for a bite and a brew. Try their other brews & pizza too.
