Colorado Beer NewsToday is International Goof-off Day. It's Friday, March Madness is here, Colorado craft beer is beckoning to you - need another reason not to goof-off today? For one day out of the year, this is your chance to do something fun and not feel guilty about it - at least not today. Enjoy the weekend and the rest of Colorado Craft Beer Week while it lasts! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, March 22nd, 2013.

Metro Denver

Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - Today for CO Craft Beer Week, Freshcraft in Denver will be hosting a Dry Dock Tap Takeover all day today starting at 11:00am. There will be 10 different Dry Dock beers on draft there including their Ambassador Sour and a special firkin of Toasted Coconut Vanilla Porter. Start your sampling early!

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Denver) - Tonight at 5:00pm, Crooked Stave will release their new Origins - a Burgundy Sour ale. It will be available in bottles (limited number per person) and on tap at their taproom.

Falling Rock Tap House (Denver) - Tonight is Night of the Sours! Falling Rock will Celebrate the Art of the Sour Beer on Friday Night starting at 5:30pm. Come on down (no tickets) & drink some incredible Sour Beers they've collected. Beers from Russian River, New Belgium, Jolly Pumpkin, Brewery, Odell Brewing, Strange Brewing, Crooked Stave and more!

Bull & Bush Pub & Brewery (Denver) - A rare drop for Colorado Craft Beer Week is now on tap at Bull & Bush. Pimp My Rye is now on tap. Check out what 13,140 hours of aging in a Heaven Hill Rye barrel can do to a Rye Wine.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - Set your calendars for Monday, April 8th for a one-of-a-kind All Firkin Beer Dinner featuring 5 different firkin beers from Breckenridge Brewery at Root Down restaurant in Denver. Details on this 5-course dinner on Breck's Facebook page and also listed on the Colorado Beer Dinner listings page.

Boulder County

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Tomorrow, Saturday March 23rd from 2pm to 7pm is the inaugural Hops & Handrails event at the brewery. The new winter event will feature 23 of Colorado’s finest craft breweries alongside a 25’ ramp snowboard competition at Left Hand Brewery from 2-7 p.m. Hops & Handrails Beer Fest & Rail Jam will bring the best Colorado has to offer in a family friendly winter wonderland loaded with snowboards action, great music, local food, and craft beer. Hops & Handrails will benefit 3 different nonprofits, SOS Outreach, A Woman’s Work, and the Colorado Brewers Guild. Get your tickets online. The beer fest portion will run from 2pm to 5pm. The Rail Jam will run from 3pm to 6:30pm.

Upslope Brewing (Boulder) - A new collaboration beer is in the works. Upslope is working with The Mayor of Old Town and Edward's Pipe & Cigar Shop (both of Ft. Collins) to create a beer called: "Have a Cigar" - a bourbon barrel aged Scottish Ale. This brew will take a few months to age and will be available sometime this Summer. Look for it at both Upslope and The Mayor of Old Town during the warmer months. It'll be worth the wait.

Northern Colorado

Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Are you ready for baseball? This should help to get you in the mood - Black Bottle is hosting a Sandlot/Blue Moon mini-tap takeover. They'll have 8 different Sandlot brews direct from Coors Field on tap including: Extra Sour Red, Crimson Crossing, Impulse Vintage Red, Belgian White, Pine in the Neck, Valencia Grove, Ginger Bread and Thin Mint. Enjoy one while you watch March Madness and munch on some food.

Pateros Creek Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Don't forget! Next Saturday, March 30th is the big event for coffee beer lovers - the Pateros Creek Coffee Conundrum. There will be two separate tasting sessions - 1:00pm and 3:00pm and 4 different coffee beers for you to sample. Get tickets via Eventbrite and get your coffee and beer fix at the same time! This will be a fun opportunity to chat with the brewers. You'll even get a sample bag of coffee from Conundrum Coffee too. Food trucks will be parked outside to feed you as well. Also, Pateros Creek just announced a new distribution deal with Tivoli Distribution to help bring PCBC beers to more locations in Colorado.

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Stop by the brewery this afternoon from 4pm to 6pm for beer and live music by Tom Cromwell. Shuffler Bros BBQ will also be on hand serving up some tasty BBQ. Come hungry and thirsty!

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Get $1 off all pints from open til 3:00pm today. Today's $5 Friday Firkin is a special Citra Dry Hopped Little Red Cap - embrace the hop! Chaulkboard Gourmet Express will be on site offering up their $5 bacon Cheeseburger Special. Make an evening of it at Grimm Bros.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Attention Greeley Colorado! Big Beaver will be the focus of a Tap Takeover at the Greeley Old C's today at 6:00pm. There will be 6 different Big Beaver brews to pair with your meal today. Zach and KatiLyn from the brewery will be on hand to talk Beaver! Old C's is just west of the Greeley Mall on 29th Street.

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - It's back! Crabtree's Barrel Monkey Brown is available once again and back on tap at their tasting room. This barrel-aged brew is a small batch and will go fast! Also on tap today: Boxcar Brown, Oatmeal Stout, Eclipse Black IPA, Raz-A, Otto-Bahn Saison, Rebel Rye IPA, Dearfield Ale, and Head Turner Blonde. Stop in to get away from the coming snow this weekend.

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - Get $3 glasses of any gold beer (in honor of the CU Buffs game today) which included their Tripel, Saison or Belgian Pale while the CU game is on today! Go Buffs!

Southern Front Range

Phantom Canyon Brewing (Colorado Springs) - To close out their celebration of Colorado Craft Beer Week, the weekend beer special is their '1948 Strong Ale - Revival Series #20.' Happy Hour pricing on this brew all weekend long! This Strong Ale is a substantial beer while still being smooth. It is golden amber in color, with subtle fruit-like flavors, wonderful English hoppiness and alcohol warmth. Served in a snifter off the beer engine. 8.25% ABV.


Mountains and West

Two Rascals Brewing (Montrose) - Colorado Craft Beer Week events continue with live music this evening featuring Tony Rosario. Tomorrow night's music is Jazzology, and Sunday come on out to Pahgre's starting at 3 pm to celebrate Colorado Craft Brew Week with samples from Oskar Blues Brewery, Left Hand Brewing Company, Telluride Brewing Co. and Two Rascals Brewing Co.
