Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. Put on your banana suit and dance! It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time! OK, so maybe Family Guy didn't invent this holiday, but you can appreciate it regardless. Once you're done celebrating, cool off with a nice fresh Colorado craft beer. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013.

Metro Denver

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Wednesday's Firkin this week is a Rye IPA dry hopped with Centennial hops. It taps at 3:00pm and runs until 9:00pm or when it kicks. Also, today $1 of each pint sold goes towards YMCA Schlessman which provides scholarships to families through child card & senior programs.

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - Big Choice will be brewing the following beers for spring and summer in the weeks to come: Rail Slide Extra Pale Ale, I Want Mango Wheat, and a collaboration Blonde Rye Ale with City Star Brewing of Berthoud to help celebrate both of their One Year anniversaries. Brewer Zach is also test batching three different beers to follow the West Portal Colorado Common in the Alpine Tall Tale Series of beers - stay tuned! Big Choice is also expecting the arrival of a new 30bbl brite and fermenter tanks in mid-April so that they can product more beer for distribution. They have a new chiller and larger walk in cooler coming as well and will locate part of that across the street for general storage. They plan to put their West Portal Colorado Common in 16oz cans this summer.

Stoney's Full Steam Tavern (Denver) - Looking for a great way to celebrate 4-20 this year? Why not attend the Stoney's 2nd Annual Beer Festival on April 20th at both 1pm and 5pm sessions. Over 20 breweries and 150 craft beers available for sampling. Tickets are $20 each and are available at both Denver locations. Festival is located at 1434 Blake Street in Denver, CO.

Boulder County

The Very Nice Brewing Company (Nederland) - This Saturday, April 6th from noon to 1:30pm, Very Nice Brewing will host another Pints & Poses yoga class. The cost is $10 for the 90 minute session which includes a pint of beer afterwards. Space is limited so please RSVP to the brewery directly.

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - On this week's edition of Wednesday's Firkin, High Hops presents their Bourbon Barrel Wee Heavy on April 3rd at 5pm. Live music will be playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week. Check the music listings for who's playing and times. Also, this Saturday, don't miss out on their Bourbon Barrel Aged Noble. This limited release is the first in their barrel-aged series! Coming up on Sunday, April 28th at 11am is the Hops for the Homebrewer: Planting to Harvesting - a free hour-long seminar on the basics of how to grow and harvest your own hops. Finally, on Monday, April 29th at 6pm it's The Basics of Brewing - a beginning brewing class covering how to brew using malt extracts. Admission $5 and redeemable for a flagship pint of beer. Odell Brewing (Ft. Collins) - On Saturday, April 6th, Odell Brewing will release its latest creation: Odell Tree Shaker Imperial Peach IPA. If memories of an old Steve Miller Band song come to mind then you aren't alone. Check out the press release to get all the details on this brew.

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Stop in for Euchre night at 6:30pm. As euchre in the taproom grows they are now giving free beer nickels to the two individual players with the most points. Add your name to the marker board, and they'll track individual points per game for the first 3 games to determine who wins free beer!

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - The new labels are in for their upcoming release of Solenna - a Belgian-style Ale. The label states: "Solenna pairs the fruitiness of a traditional Belgian yeast strain with the subtle spicy character of Brettanomyces and the floral notes of German hops. Notes of candy apple, cinnamon, and fresh-cut grass give way to a dry finish and firm lingering bitterness". Stay tuned for the upcoming release date announcement. (6.3% ABV and cellarable for up to 2 years).

Echo Brewing (Frederick) - It's Trivia Tuesday at Echo Brewing starting at 7pm. Stop in early to grab a brew and feast upon the food from The Orange Crunch 5pm - 8pm. Be there!

Southern Front Range

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Tickets go on sale today for this year's Saison Festival at Trinity Brewing set for Saturday, April 13th from 11am to 5pm. For the first time, they will be opening up their new Barrel room to the public hosting the annual tasting of Saisons and Farmhouse ales. Only 150 tickets will be available, and pre-sale starts today - $30 Pre sale and $35 at the door (if any are left).

Phantom Canyon Brewing (Colorado Springs) - One of their seasonal favorites is returning today. Stop in for a pint of Continuum Belgian-style White Ale. It's light and refreshing with a distinctive taste.

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Today the brewery posted a job opening for a full time Event Director. Do you love throwing parties, helping out your community and drinking craft beer? Events at Crazy Mountain have become so popular and so time consuming that they need a full time person to manage it all. To read up on the position check out their blog page. Revolution Brewing (Paonia) - Next time you're passing through Paonia, stop in and have a brew and sit out in their beer garden. It is officially open! This year, they have a new huge communal table there as well.

Bonfire Brewing (Eagle) - Have you tried the full Spring line-up of beers from Bonfire yet? 7 different beers have been packaged and are now getting out to local stores and in Denver area too. Look for Tent Pole Vanilla Porter, Dirbag Dunkel, Brush Creek Blonde Ale, Kindler Pale Ale, Demshitz Brown Ale, Firestarter IPA, and Awry Rye Pale Ale.
