Colorado Beer NewsToday is World Party Day. Today is a world wide massive celebration of making a better world and the active creation of desirable reality (according to Wikipedia). How are you going to celebrate today? However you do, strive to make something better today by doing it right. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, April 3rd, 2013.

Metro Denver

Black Shirt Brewing (Denver) - According to Branden Miller, the brewery still has some hop rhizomes for sale at the brewery during regular tap room hours (Weds-Fri 5-9 pm, & Sat 2-9 pm) for anyone looking to grow hops. These were harvested from Voss Farms in Arvada and the money raised will definitely help Andrew and family on this year's crop! The cost is $5/ea. Varieties are Centennial, Cascade, Chinook, and Willamette. Also, BSB has some 32oz growlers of Red Evelyn, their Imperial Red Rye IPA, left - $22 in the tap room only, and those who have purchased a growler and enjoyed the beer already can exchange their empty growler for a filled one for $17. They hope to have other beers into growlers in about 4 weeks!

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - Today there is not one, but two beer releases! The first is their Belgian Peach - a Belgian blonde aged in a Leopold Brothers peach whiskey barrel. It measures 7.5% ABV and 24 IBU. The second beer is their Off Kilter 80/-. This beer weighs in at 5.2% ABV and 28 IBU. It's a re-release of their Scottish Eighty Shilling beer. Both of these beers will tap at 4:00pm today. Coming soon: (1) Sour Cherry Ale, (2) Colonial Ginger Beer and (3) Big Hairy Feet (English-style Barleywine).

Colorado Brews - TV Debut

Wynkoop Brewing Co (Denver) - Wynkoop Brewing is planning to bring back an old recipe: Kurt's Mile High Malt for a special "Breakfast of Champions Beer Dinner" on Thursday April 11th at 6:30pm. It's based off an old recipe that author Kurt Vonnegut gave to John Hickenlooper and was only brewed in 1996, then again in 2007 as a memorial beer when Vonnegut died. It'll be on tap for all starting April 12th. It's a lager brewed with coffee. Also - Heading into Denver for the Rockies home opener this Friday? Why not start it off with a pre-game lunch buffet at Wynkoop! They're hosting a $10 buffet that will get you ready for the game.

Parry's Pizza (Greenwood Village) - NOW OPEN! Parry's just opened their 4th location in Colorado. Now serving Greenwood Village with 50 craft beer taps! Happy Hour Monday through Friday 3pm to 6pm. Boulder County

Boulder Beer Company (Boulder) - Did you know that April is National Get Hazed Month? Since it's more fun to get Hazed with a friend, Boulder beer will be sharing their classic Hazed and Infused Dry Hopped Ale all month long.

Northern Colorado

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - The Mayor will be hosting a Firestone Walker Tap Takeover on Monday, April 15th at 5pm. This will be one of Firestone Walker's biggest tap takeovers in Colorado with 13 Firestone Walker beers available including Anniversary 16, Double DBA (2012) and Unfiltered DBA. Better make plans to be there. Celebrate Tax Day in style.

Echo Brewing (Frederick) - Has it been a year already? Echo Brewing is planning to celebrate their 1st Year Anniversary on Saturday, April 13th starting at 11:00am. They plan to invite several food trucks, have live music playing, offer giveaways, a new beer tapping and even a Gibbon Slackline competition and other fun stuff. Make plans to visit the brewery at: 5969 Iris Parkway #C in Frederick, CO.

Odell Brewing (Ft. Collins) - In cooperation with Project "Hop to Sip", Odell Brewing will help to co-produce a beer with the hops being grown on the Colorado Gold Hop Yard. Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Don't forget Happy Hour from 3:00pm to 6:00pm today. Don't forget to try their red ale: "Not the Irish". Also, coming up on Thursday, April 25th it's the Verboten Beer Dinner at The Wapiti Colorado Pub in Loveland starting at 5:30pm. 5 course beer pairing. RSVP to 970.635.1975 for details.

Southern Front Range

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Trinity posted a 50.5% growth rate in 2012 and has grown another 30% compounded in the 1st quarter of 2013. In March they started shipping 5 of their beers up to Denver, Boulder and Fort Collins. Look for Le Capitaine, Little Death Ride, Pappy Legba, Slap Yer Mammy and Red Swingline at the best shops in those towns. Also, April 19th marks the return of TPS Report 2013!

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Just in case you needed another reason to visit Bristol Brewing today, they are offering up $1 off all jug fills all day long! Just sayin'...

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewery (Edwards) - According to a recent article by Erik Gorski who does the Denver Post First Drafts, Crazy Mountain is considering purchasing the current Breckenridge Brewery location in Denver once Breckenridge moves to it's new farm location in Littleton in late 2014. Crazy Mountain has been given the first option to buy the property and use it for a main production system while maintaining their existing operation in the Vail Valley. More on this as news develops.
