Colorado Beer NewsIn case you missed it, yesterday was National Beer Day. 80 years ago the sale of beer in the USA became legal once again. Back then, the beer could only be less than 4.0% ABV. Today, beer in many states can be as high as brewers can make it. Craft beer tends to be higher in ABV than mainstream beer on average. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, April 8th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Lone Tree Brewing Co (Lone Tree) - This Wednesday, April 10th marks the release of their much anticipated Schawrzbier German Lager. You'll need one after we dig out from tomorrow's expected blizzard.

Prost Brewing (Denver) - Need a reason to venture out for beer today? Hope about this - Monday is 2-for-1 Growler fills all day, plus you get double punches on your growler card! Stop in and stock up before the snow hits tomorrow. Also, be sure to read the Prost blog article about how "Not All Malts Are Created Equal".

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - The brewery just increased their cellar capacity with the addition of some new bright tanks. They currently have 15 beers on tap plus a brown ale on cask. Included in their list are 4 different IPAs and 4 different stouts. Stop in for a tasting.

Elk Mountain Brewing (Parker) - Today is 60 Minute Monday between 5pm and 6pm. That's when you'll get $2 off all pints in their tasting room. It's one way to beat the storm coming in later tonight.

Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - Dry Dock Pils goes on tap today at 3pm. They'll also be firing up the projector for the Michigan vs. Louisville final tonight as well.

Arvada Beer Co (Arvada) - This week ABC will be bringing back a couple of favorites. Thursday they will be releasing their Cherry Wheat. 4.8% ABV with 84 pounds of sweet cherries added to the 7 bbl batch. Friday they will be bringing back the 59'er Schwarzbier. This dark German lager comes in around 5.5% ABV.

Boulder County

Nostalgic Brewing Company (Longmont) - Plans are finally starting to come together for opening a brewery in the Longmont area after a quiet period. The geek gaming/film/music culture will be the theme with their inspired brews. They recently reached their 25% funding needed to put their brewery plan in action. Founder Nick Goddard quit his day job late March and is now focused on opening the brewery. Follow their progress on or on Facebook.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - From their newsletter: This month marks the return of Karma. Not only (on April 6th) will they release their estery, tart, thirst-quenching, seasonal Belgian-style Pale Ale, they are also on the verge of some awesome barrel-aged releases. Also, tickets for the 4th Annual Boulder SourFest go on sale on April 26th at 9am MDT! Northern Colorado

Odell Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Hop heads - Odell will be celebrating the return and releasing their hoppy seasonal St. Lupulin on Saturday, April 20th. You'll be able to enjoy it all Spring and well into the Summer. Don't forget - the Odell taproom is now open Sundays 11am - 6pm. Brewery tours are offered 7 days a week at 1, 2,3 and 4pm. Tours are limited to 25 people, 1st come 1st served.

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - Stop in at The Forge Publick House in Ft. Collins, Colorado on Thursday, April 11th from 6pm - 8pm for a Funkwerks Meet the Brewer event. Funkwerks head brewer Gordon Schuck will be bringing plenty of Funkwerks beers and you can ask him anything about their beer and business.

1933 Brewing Company (Ft. Collins) - Fort Fun is about to become even more fun. 1933 Brewing Company has just signed a lease to open a brewery at 4025 S. Mason Street. It's located next door to Recycled Cycles. They'll plan to begin work on renovating the place for business soon.

Patrick's Irish Pub (Greeley) - It's Monday Night Bingo (darts) tonight 8 to 10pm. Featuring great prizes from Stone Brewery this week. Come on down & delight your taste buds with some "Stone Enjoy By 4.20.13 IPA" & show off your throwing skills. And don't forget their Championship on the 29th of April for a grand prize of $250!

Southern Front Range

Ute Pass Brewing Co (Woodland Park) - Colorado's newest brewery, Ute Pass Brewing Company opened it's doors for business on Saturday, April 6th in Woodland Park. Visit them at 209 E. Midland Avenue. Business hours are: Tues - Thurs 5pm - 9pm, Fri 5pm - 11pm, Sat 11am - 11pm, and Sun 11am - 8pm. Closed on Mondays. Visit their website: or on Facebook.

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - It's Monday and that means $3 pints of their flagship beers all day long in their tap room. Stop in before the snow hits tonight.

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Locals take note! Starting Monday, April 15th, Crazy Mountain is offering a deal. If you wear a piece of Crazy Mountain merchandise to the tasting room between 5-7pm on Monday through Friday you get $2 pints! Start looking forward to the off-season!
