Colorado Beer NewsToday is Tax Day. It's that dreaded time of year when all of our tax forms are due and it's either time to pay up, file an extension or finally get that refund we've been hoping for. If you've put off doing your taxes until now better get moving or else Mr. IRS Agent may come a knockin' on your door. One good way to get some tax relief is to drink a fresh craft brew when the paperwork is done. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, April 15th, 2013.

Metro Denver

The Old Mill Brewery & Grill (Littleton) - Stop into the Old Mill Brewery today and wish Bill & Kathy Frangiskakis family and their staff a wonderful 5th Anniversary! They just celebrated 5 years of doing business over the weekend. Cheers to 5 years! They are located at 5798 South Rapp Street in Littleton, CO and are open 11am to 10pm today.

Former Future Brewing Co (Denver) - This last Saturday, Former Future brewed up several kegs of their upcoming brews and hosted their inaugural tasting event in the Presidential Suite of the Oxford Hotel in downtown Denver. Two sessions of tastings were held and 4 different creations were poured. Get the entire scoop on this event from this yet to open brewery headed to Denver. Look forward to The Harvester (wild yeast Saison), The Red Coat (English IPA), The Magistrate (Sweet Stout) and The Mariner (Salted Porter) and others later this year. Also, look for them to pour beers at the upcoming South Denver Beer Fest in May.

Denver Beer Company (Denver) - Looks like somebody is taking a snow day. Denver Beer Company will be closed today for a team fun day. They will be back open tomorrow at their usual time.

Rock Bottom Brewery (Denver) - There's going to be two new tappings this month. Tapping days have moved to Wednesday now, but with the same FREE pint offer (21+ only) for the first 30 minutes. On Wednesday, April 17th at 6pm stop in for a returning favorite - 16th St. Wheat. Then on Wednesday, April 24th, try a pint of El Chupacabra - their Spring Mexican style lager. Their patio is now open for the season (weather permitting).

Boulder County

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - Have you taken the O.B. Trolley ride from Denver to Longmont yet? On select Saturdays, Oskar Blues is offering FREE trolley rides from Govnr's Park Tavern (672 Logan Street) to and from Oskar Blues in Longmont. The trolley leaves Denver at 2pm and returns to Denver at 6pm. Upcoming dates include: April 27, May 4th, June 8th & 15th, and July 6th. The ride is FREE but reservations are required. Email to reserve your seat. Similar rides on the trolley from Boulder to Longmont are also available on select Sundays leaving from Hazel's Beverage World at 12pm and returning at 4pm. Upcoming Sunday dates: April 21st, May 12th and May 26th.

300 Suns Brewing (Longmont) - It's the final week of fundraising for 300 Suns Brewing on their Indiegogo campaign. There are hoping to raise as much money as possible. While they probably won't raise the entire $45,000 they were hoping for, they should be able to meet at least $10,000 of their goal and still be able to buy some of their equipment for the brewery. If you haven't checked out their fundraising site yet - please do and see what they have planned for Longmont.

Upslope Brewing Company (Boulder) - Upslope is proud to announce that their Limited Release series "Belgian Style Pale Ale" is back and is hitting store shelves starting today. Look for the white cans in 6-packs where ever Upslope beer is sold this week. This beer is brewed with coriander and has the aroma of semi-sweet malts and banana! It weighs in at 7.5% ABV and 30 IBU. it's only around for a few months. Grab some while it's in stock.

Northern Colorado

Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Due to the snowy weather, tonight's Firestone Walker tap takeover has been postponed until Thursday at 6:30pm as the Mayor will be closing down for the day to keep customers and staff safe.

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Over the weekend, City Star put up their "Dead or Alive", a double IPA that weighs in at 8.5% ABV and 110 IBUs. It is bittered by Centennial, Columbus, Warrior and Magnum hops. They describe it as "Dank and delicious". Stop in and judge it for yourself. Snow Day Special: Happy Hour all day!

FOCOMX (Ft. Collins) - The 5th Annual Fort Collins Music Experiment is coming this weekend, April 19th and 20th and is stopping at several Fort Collins breweries and beer bars. Over 200 bands across over 20 venues. For a list of all of the brewery stops with music visit the Colorado Brewery Music listings and see who's playing at a FoCO brewery or beer bar this weekend. For all of the other stops visit Brewery music venues include: Equinox Brewing, Odell Brewing, Fort Collins Brewery, Pateros Creek Brewing, as well as the following popular beer spots: Choice City Butcher & Deli, Tap N Handle, and Cranknstein.

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - A reminder, today the Loveland Aleworks taproom will be closed to the public, April 15th, as they are planning to due some maintenance and celebrate an employee party. They will return to normal hours on Tuesday.

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - Funkwerks is going to be releasing some cellar beers for purchase this week! Today's release is 6 Cherry Saisons from 2011 and 6 Cherry Saisons from the 2012 batch. They are available for $15 in the taproom, while they last.

Southern Front Range

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Need some tax relief today? How about this - Get $3 pints of all of their flagship brews today. That will help ease the pain of the tax ding one way or another.

Rocky Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) - Nerd Night Mondays are BACK! Nerds are once more in the commanders chair, from 6-9pm on Monday Nights. Bring in your group for some table top gaming (risk, D&D, apples to apples, cribbage, warhammer, etc...) and receive 10% off your whole groups tab in addition to pitchers at growler price! Going solo? That's OK, just bring in your laptop because PC gamers receive buy one get one free 1/2 pints!

Mountains and West

Eddyline Restaurant and Brewing Company (Buena Vista) - In honor of the big snows received in April this year, Eddyline is offering up their Innerglow Red Chile Porter as the beer of the week. Get $3 pints of it all week long from 3pm to 6pm each day.

Dillon Dam Brewery (Dillon) - Now on tap! Dillon Dam has put out what they call the Jekyll and Hyde of beers - Hoporter. Described as "balanced and drinkable, yet complex and dangerous pairing rich, dark malts with zesty american hops in an amazingly quaffable 8% ABV". Stop in to try one. Also, don't forget Live Trivia with Steve on Wednesday, April 17th at 9:00pm.

Steamworks Brewing Co (Durango) - Just in time for tax day, Steamworks is bringing back "Tax Alement ESB" and this time it's on a nitro tap. This is an Extra Special Bitter combining English pale malt and Kent Golding hops. It measures at 5.9% ABV and 43 IBU.
