CSU BreweryCSU Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Here is a major that most college students would love. According to the Coloradoan newspaper, Colorado State University is making plans to install a brewery on campus inside the Ramskeller, a pub inside the Lory Student Center. To help with educating students enrolled in brewing sciences classes, CSU will install a brewery as part of a multi-million dollar renovation of the student center. Two 3-barrel brewing systems are being planned and will be part of an interactive classroom environment. Beer would only be sold in the Ramskeller pub and not off campus. Only problem is, renovation of the student center funding does not include brewing equipment. That would have to be raised separately. Read more about this in the Coloradoan article.

Steamworks Brewing Co (Durango) - From today's press release: "Firkin Fridays continues at Steamworks Brewing Co. on Friday, May 3, 2013, with the introduction of a unique brew: “Cherry Cinders.” The firkin cask will be tapped at 3 p.m. The specialty firkin will have a base of Steamworks’ award-winning, flagship beer, Colorado Kölsch, a light, crisp ale with a hint of fruitiness, refermented with Belgian yeast. “We added a small amount of smoked malt, made into a ‘tea,’ to the cask because we're into experimentation,” said Steamworks Brewer and Certified Cicerone® Spencer Roper. “That’s where the ‘cinders’ come into play.” “And for the cherry, we will be adding both sweet and sour cherries to the Kölsch base,” said Steamworks Brew Master and Certified Cicerone® Ken Martin. “The final touch will be the Belgian yeast that will consume the sugar from the cherries, and give the beer a little spice character as well.”"
