Colorado Beer News 051413

Colorado Beer NewsToday is Underground America Day. While the vast majority of Americans live above ground, there are a growing number who live below ground. Today is a day to choose to do something underground like: ride a subway, explore a cave, visit some catacombs, explore an underground crypt. Sound creepy? It can be, however it can be a simple as enjoying some time in a basement man-cave. Being underground doesn't have to be dark or uncomfortable experience. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, May 14th, 2013.

Boulder County

The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - The brewery is putting out three new beers on tap in the Tasting Room this week as part of their American Craft Beer Week celebration. Weizenbock, part of the limited release Tap Club series, combines the rich flavors of a dunkelweizen (dark fruit, wheat, banana, clove, and chocolate, to name a few) with the strength and body of a bock. Happy Pils, another member of the Tap Club series, is a continental Pils that is light and slightly sweet on the tongue and finishes with refreshing dryness without being overly bitter. Perfect for the warm days of early summer. And finally is FCB’s contribution to the Collusion Project in which all breweries in the City of Fort Collins took part to celebrate American Craft Beer Week. All breweries started out with same malt bill and collaborated with two other breweries to select the yeast, hops, and additional malts. FCB’s version, created with the help of Black Bottle Brewery and Coopersmith’s, features Apple wood and Cherry wood smoked malts to add just a hint of smoke and was aged on French Oak chips to add a black tea spice flavor.
