Don't know when the episodes will start airing yet - it could be anywhere between September and January, depending on how quickly we can get sponsors and get this all filmed - but Colorado is going to have its own show about breweries. Thank you all so much who wrote into the station, watched the show and told your friends to watch it. New Belgium Brewing (Asheville,NC) - [PRESS RELEASE] New Belgium Brewing announced today that it has nearly completed deconstruction at the site of its future Asheville facility and will continue site development and building construction later in 2014. The adjusted construction timeline is the result of increased capacity coming online in Fort Collins this year. With 70,000 barrels of capacity recently added, the Fort Collins brewery can produce up to 920,000 barrels, which will take New Belgium through 2015 sales projections. “We’re in a good situation as far as capacity in Fort Collins right now,” said New Belgium Spokesman, Bryan Simpson. “With deconstruction in Asheville wrapping up, our plan is to operate at maximum efficiency in Fort Collins and bring Asheville online at just the right moment. Along with our construction partners and the City of Asheville, we look forward to using the additional time to balance the many elements of such a dynamic project.” Current estimates are for about an 8-month adjustment (push back) to the construction timeline. Once underway, the construction phase will take place over 22 months as originally projected. The scope and physical attributes of the project remain the same. In the meantime, New Belgium will continue to work with the community to develop bike and pedestrian infrastructure in the area. All recovered materials slated for repurposing have been down-streamed to contractors or put into storage for future use. Once construction is complete, the brewery is expected to create more than 150 jobs in the area.

Beer Labeling Laws (US-wide) - [PRESS RELEASE] On May 28, 2013, the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) issued a ruling (Ruling 2013-2) that allows alcohol beverage industry members to provide consumers with nutritional information about their products and provides guidelines to ensure that the information is presented in a consistent and non-misleading manner. The Federal Alcohol Administration Act provides for regulation of the labeling and advertising of distilled spirits, wine, and malt beverages to prevent consumer deception, to provide consumers with adequate information as to the identity and quality of the product, and to prohibit false or misleading statements. The ruling allows “Serving Facts” statements that include the serving size, the number of servings per container, the number of calories, and the number of grams of carbohydrates, protein, and fat per serving. Additionally, Serving Facts statements may include information about the alcohol content of the product as a percentage of alcohol by volume and may also include a statement of the fluid ounces of pure ethyl alcohol per serving. Industry members will not need to apply for new label approval to add a Serving Facts statement if it conforms to the examples contained in the ruling. TTB is providing this interim guidance on the use of optional Serving Facts statements on labels and in advertisements pending the completion of rulemaking on this matter. The Ruling can be found at
