Colorado Beer News 053013

Colorado Beer NewsToday is Loomis Day honoring the man, Mahlom Loomis, who patented the wireless telegraph back in 1872. This guy was working as a dentist at the time he patented this invention. So if you need something to toast about today, why not toast to Loomis. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, May 30th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Cannonball Creek Brewing (Golden) - Tis the season for Saisons. Today at 3pm CCBC will be tapping Saison Nu. Meanwhile, back in the brewhouse they are brewing up another batch of their Rosemary Sourdough Saison which will be ready in a few weeks. They open at 3pm today and McDivitt Taco Supply will be on site serving up food to go with your brew.

Castle Rock Homebrew Supply (Castle Rock) - On Monday, June 3rd at 5:30pm - Learn to brew over dinner. In this class you will brew your own extract recipe to take home and ferment while enjoying some of the finest Pizza in the west. Class size is limited to 4 students. Each student may bring a guest for $5 more. You will need a minimum of a full recipe kit, fermenter, lid and airlock. They will provide the rest to include pot, burners, spoon, thermometer, sanitizing chemicals, wort chilling, propane and of course all of the instruction to get you going in your homebrewing career. Parry's Pizza (4 Metro locations) & Lone Tree Brewing (Parker) - Parry's Pizza will be tapping a new Colorado craft beer that can only be found at Parry’s Pizza locations. In collaboration with Lone Tree Brewing Co., Parry’s now serves Landon’s Wanna Walk Wheat as it’s own house beer. Passion Me By is the second beer being brewed by Lone Tree Brewing Co. and can only be found at Parry’s Pizza locations as a seasonal offering. Landon’s Wanna Walk Wheat is an unfiltered wheat ale brightened by subtle hop additions and a delicate citrus aroma. It has a medium body with a lively carbonation finishing with a hint of lemon citrus. It will be sold as a pint and can be found at all four Parry’s locations. Passion Me By is a light, refreshing, unfiltered wheat ale that has been delicately infused with passion fruit lending it a slightly tart and thirst quenching finish. It has a medium body and finishes dry with a slight tartness. This beer will also be at all four Parry’s locations but is only available while supplies last due to its seasonal billing.

Beer By Design Brewery (Northglenn) - In less than 2 days, the new Beer By Design Brewery in Northglenn will open it's doors and start serving beer! Their doors open up at 2:00pm. Beers expected to be on tap during the opening are: Hopstacle, Wild Mountain Wheat, Copper Mountain Pale, Cascade Mountain IPA, and Alpine Amber Ale. Stop in and check it out. They become the 14th new brewing establishment to open in Colorado this year.

Lone Tree Brewing (Lone Tree) - Hurry over for a taste of their Whiskey barrel Aged Black IPA on nitro! It's only on tap today til it runs out. So you better run out to get one!

Boulder County

Burning Can Festival (Lyons) - If you are still planning to go to the Burning Can Festival this Saturday in Lyons, Colorado they be aware that their VIP tickets are now Sold Out. You can still get regular passes for $25 online and for $30 at the gate. It's the only beer festival in Colorado that only invites breweries who offer craft beer in cans. More info and directions at

Bootstrap Brewing Company (Niwot) - Bootstrap Brewing is celebrating their 1st birthday on June 22nd. They plan to celebrate with a party starting at noon that day. In addition to having a big selection of their beers on tap, there will be a Cornhole Tournament, Live Music from Cat Jerky and BlueKrewe and plenty of food available. The guys from Colorado Craft Beer Radio will be doing a live radio show on site from 12pm to 2pm as well. Come on in and help them celebrate a year of beer in Niwot!

Northern Colorado

Colorado Brewers' Festival (Ft. Collins) - Call for Volunteers! Volunteers are needed to help out for the upcoming beer festival on June 22nd and 23rd in Fort Collins. You'll get free entrance to the festival just for donating a few hours of your time. Sunday volunteers are particularly needed. Sign up to volunteer at:

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Need a fun idea for Thursday night? How about joining in for NoCo Geeks Who Drink trivia tonight from 7 to 9pm at Pateros Creek? There will be food outside from Umami Mobile Eatery from 6-9pm. Also, new on the Outlaw Tap today is a Classic American Pilsner infused with Chamomile and Citrus called Put Your Feet Up Pilsner. Your Thursday just got better!

New Belgium Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Want to win your very own 2013 New Belgium cruiser bike? If you visit (it's a Facebook app page) and share a picture of your favorite Fat Tire Amber Ale pairing, you'll be entered to win. Just that simple!

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - As promised, their Belgian-style wit, White, is officially back at Funkwerks! This beer was a taproom favorite in the past. Come celebrate it’s return with a full or half glass on the patio.

Southern Front Range

Bristol Brewing Company (Colorado Springs) - The rumors are true! Bristol Brewing has opened part of their new Ivywild School location to the public and are now serving beer in there! The Ivywild location is just a block west from their Tejon Street location at 1604 S. Cascade in Colorado Springs. Work continues on completing the new location so for now just the north side of the building is open. They are serving beer and pretzels, but are not yet serving food from their new pub. Their new hours at Ivywild are: Mon-Thu 11am-10pm, Fri-Sat 11am-11pm and 11am-8pm on Sundays. Other businesses who will be sharing the building (but are not yet open) are: The Principal's Office (Coffee shop), The Meat Locker (Deli), The Old School Bakery, KRCC (recording studio), Nourish Organics Juice Bar and ModboCo School of Art - coming soon.

Mountains and West

Ska Brewing (Durango) - It's a Ska-B-Q kind of day at the brewery from 5-7pm. Listen to live music from Mark Berenson, eat some food from Good on the Bun, and get $3 beer specials on tap.
