Colorado Beer News 060513

Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Running Day. Time to get off the couch, put on your running shoes and get outside and get some healthy exercise! It doesn't matter if you run around a few blocks or complete a marathon, the object is to get outside and do your body some good. You can always walk too if running is not your thing. Try leaving your car at home and running to your nearest tap room for a beer! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, June 5th, 2013.

Metro Denver

TRVE Brewing (Denver) - It's time for existing CVLT members to renew their membership for another year and to open up membership to new initiates. Current members will have until June 20th to renew their seats. Because of some of earlier issues last year, they'll be allowing 2012 members to use their growlers up until the end of July. On June 21st at their anniversary party, TRVE will be distributing the growlers and also start selling any unrenewed seats in the Cvlt on a first-come-first-serve basis. Each Cvlt membership seat will get you a growler and six free fills. They'll still be doing 32 oz. growlers - 366 of them total and will still be limiting free fill usage to one per month. Outside of the free fills, all fills will be priced individually for each beer. Membership seats will be $66. They kindly ask each person to buy no more than two seats. All sales will be handled at the brewery. Sorry, no growler fills during their anniversary party. Growler fill prices may not remain fixed through the year.

River North Brewery (Denver) - It's Wayward Wednesday at River North today. Stop in to try their Grapefruit-infused Saison while it lasts. Also, Matt's Snack Shack will be on site serving up their popular wings tonight.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - The new Summer Sampler 12-can variety packs are now out and available in stores. Each variety sampler 12-pack contains Lucky U IPA, SummerBright, Avalanche Amber Ale and their Agave Wheat which is available in cans for the first time. Stock up on Breck in cans for the Summer!

World of Beer (Lakewood) - There's a second World of Beer location about ready to open here in Colorado. This time they're opening in the Belmar area around Lakewood, Colorado at 7260 W. Alaska Drive. This along with the Cherry Creek location will have over 500 different beers both in bottle and on tap. Look for even more World of Beer locations opening in Colorado over the next year or two. The Belmar location is now hiring employees and will soon open.

Parry's Pizza (Highlands Ranch) - Parry's is hosting an Odell Brewing Company tap takeover this Saturday all day from 11am to 11pm. There will be a "bevy" of Odell selections available, some of which you may not have seen before. Stop in and get a taste of what this big Fort Collins-based brewery is all about.

Great Divide Brewing (Denver) - Announcing their new Summer Tap Room hours! GDBC will be open serving beers on site Sunday - Tuesday 12pm-8pm, and Wednesday - Saturday 12pm - 10pm. They'll be offing tours Monday - Friday at 3pm & 4pm, and Saturday & Sunday every 30-45 minutes between 2:30pm and 5pm.

Boulder County

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - Have you tried their Alpenglow Pale Ale with grapefruit yet? Come try it while it lasts, along with Honey Nut Blonde and their 6 other year round beers. Bon Appetit Mobile Bistro will parked outside tonight to serve some dinner and dessert options!

The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Tap Club Members take note, on June 16th (Father's Day) you'll be able to get first taste of FCB's Whitewater Wit - it's billed as a refreshing summer beer spiced with sweet and bitter orange peel, Indian coriander and pink peppercorns. Be sure to take Dad in for their special Beer & Bacon Brunch on June 16th from 10am to 4pm at Gravity 1020. Details on their website.

BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse (Ft. Collins) - As of June 3rd, Fort Collins now has a new brewing chain restaurant in town in the form of BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse. The new location is at 2670 E. Harmony Road in Fort Collins, Colorado. They have at least 22+ taps on site including several guest local craft beers. This will not be a brewing location however. Currently, only the Boulder BJ's location brews their own beer. Fort Collins becomes the 5th Colorado location for BJ's - Aurora, Boulder, Colorado Springs, Fort Collins and Westminster.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Grimm Brothers just added new tap line to their brewhouse wall and this time its a nitro tap! Look for a select beer to be featured on nitro every week at Grimm Bros.

Southern Front Range

Smiling Toad BrewerySmiling Toad Brewery (Colorado Springs) - In a recent move, the old KB Kraft Beer brewery in Colorado Springs has apparently changed it's name to Smiling Toad Brewery due to a change in ownership earlier this year. Same address, but now a new Facebook page, ownership and logo. Beer offerings on tap include: Lavender Lager, Anonymous Wheat, Jumbe Porter, Spring Blonde, Green's ESB, Erroneous IPA. Come embrace change at Smiling Toad! Once they get final state and federal licenses for the new name it'll be a done deal. For now, they are serving under the old KBKB licenses.

Mountains and West

Ska Brewing Company (Durango) - The skies over Ska Brewing today were filled with cranes moving in their new huge stainless steel fermenter tanks. This will be a big boost in production capacity. Wonder what they will fill them with first?
