Colorado Beer NewsToday is D-Day, the 6th of June. It's the 69th anniversary of the invasion at Normandy, France that would help turn the tide in World War II in the fight against Nazi Germany. Today we honor the memory of all those who fought and died for our country. Be sure to raise a toast to all those vets who served. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, June 6th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - This Friday, June 7th Big Choice will be tapping their PRO AM Competition Beer. This time it's an Extra Special Bitter (ESB). Also, join in every other Sunday for Trivia, a family movie and a Potluck! From 3-6pm. Next dates are June 16th and June 30th. No need to sign up - just bring some dish to share and enjoy!

Lone Tree Brewing (Lone Tree) - It's a Patio Christening and Gran Cru Witbier release! Join Lone Tree Brewing on June 15th from Noon-3pm as they celebrate the grand opening of their new patio. In celebration, they'll be tapping a new seasonal, Gran Cru Witbier. The patio will be open 7 days a week, weather permitting, during regular business hours. Just a couple simple patio rules: No smoking will be permitted on the patio and no alcohol is allowed to leave the patio area.

Pairsine (Broomfield) - Pairsine, The Taste Of Elegance, Chefs Food & Beer Pairing Competition is this coming Wednesday June 12, 2013, 4:30-9pm VIP, 6-9pm General Admission at the Omni Interlocken Resort, Broomfield, CO. Pairsine/The Taste of Elegance is a signature foodie event. This edition pairs award winning craft beers with outstanding culinary creations prepared by 10 Colorado Master Chefs. A professional panel of judges will choose the "Best Chef" and "Most Creative Chef". All attendees will vote for "The People's Choice Chef". More info and tickets at

Colorado Plus Brew Pub (Wheat Ridge) - Come one and all to The Art Lounge at Colorado Plus First First Friday event at 6:00pm. They will have live music from singer and song writer BeBe. There will be a ice sculpture for this great event. Tons of art on display from artist's Terry Womble, Lance Noriega, Frank Hanson, Kevin Robb, Jerry Danner, Brenda Womble, John L. Mendoza and Mona Lundy. They have their own bar in the art gallery upstairs and will be offering free nibbles of fine food by the executive chef Doug from Colorado Plus. Don't miss out on this event!

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - Tap alert - on the handpull today - Big Ass Old Ale - a bit 10% ABV 35 IBU brew.

Black Shirt Brewing (Denver) - Today their serving up BBQ and Red Ale at the brewery from 5-9pm.

Boulder County

Crystal Springs Brewing (Boulder/Louisville) - Big news! Crystal Springs Brewing now has signed the papers on the new location for their brewery taproom! They will become part of the Louisville, Colorado community and be located in the Colorado Technical Center at 657 S. Taylor Avenue. They will continue to brew out of their current location in Boulder, but soon will have an official tasting room where they can interact with their customers. Also, don't forget to try their latest brews: Butch - a pale ale with exotic hops, and 13 - their 3rd Anniversary beer. Look for them in stores in the Boulder area.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Lions, Tigers, Firkins - oh my! On Sunday, June 16th from 12:30pm to 3:30pm the Tasting Room will be bringing back the ever popular, Firkin Face-off event! If you were able to join them for this event during GABF, you know that this is not an event to be missed. Left Hand will have four unique firkins each prepared by a team of Left Hand employees. Customers will be able to purchase a flight tray of all four beers (a 5oz. sample of each cask conditioned beer) for $6, or a single pint of any style for $6. Members of each team will be present at this event so you will be given the opportunity to talk to the brewers about the flavor profile, inspiration for the beer, etc. At the end, customers will be given an opportunity to vote for their favorite cask beer. The winning brewers will receive bragging rights, will be recognized on Facebook and will receive a special prize.

Northern Colorado

Greeley Blues Jam (Greeley) - Tomorrow night is the kick-off to the annual Greeley Blues Jam starting off with another Friday Fest on the 9th Street Plaza downtown. It's another Go-Cup event where you are welcome to take your alcoholic drink outside on the 9th Street Plaza and enjoy live music and other entertainment activities. The Blues Jam kicks off from 5pm to 10pm with the music of Ben Pu and the Kris Lager Band. The Friday Fest music is free and many bands are playing in bars and restaurants all around downtown Greeley Friday and Saturday. The main Blues Jam stage at Island Grove Arena will start off at 6:45pm on Friday and play til 10:30pm. The music then picks up again Saturday at 12:30pm. The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - "Rumor has it" that The Mayor will be tapping Version 2 of their collaboration beer with Verboten Brewing on Tuesday night June 18th. The beer is a Kentucky Common called 'I'm All Right Jack'. However, this version is barrel aged and initial reports from the brewery state "Wow" and "Awesome" with some folks goings as far as to say "Wow, that is awesome". Be there at 6:30pm!

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - In honor of their anniversary month, Pateros Creek is bringing back some old favorite Outlaw taps. Today their re-introducing their Peanut Brittle Porter. Stop in before it's all gone.

Equinox Brewing (Ft. Collins) - As the popular Space Ghosts fades from recent memory, their firkin of Son of Space Ghost Pale Ale rizes. Today's firkin was conditioned with cardamom. Come get some!

The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - From the Northern Colorado Business Report - Three Northern Colorado businesses were recently named to ColoradoBiz Magazine's list of 50 Colorado Companies to Watch. One of them was The Fort Collins Brewery - it's a company on the rise. Grats to FCB on this honor!

Southern Front Range

Great Storm Brewing (Colorado Springs) - It's the GSB Summer Party! Come help celebrate the first official week of summer on Wednesday, June 19th. Local bluesman BJ Estares returns to bring live blues 6:30 - 8:30 pm, and they'll have a food truck parked outside all day with food by Bite Me Gourmet Sausages. Special beer releases start when they open at 11:00am, including: the return of Midsummer Ale, a light, golden ale aged on lemon, lime and orange zest, the return of Sunshower Strawberry Blonde, an all-American blonde ale made with 16 lbs of California strawberries - and new this year, Ornithopter, Bevan’s light, German kottbusser-style ale brewed with molasses and honey. Sausage, blues and brews, what else says summer like that?

Smiling Toad Brewery (Colorado Springs) - Attention lovers of the hop, Smiling Toad has a small production available of Matt's Green Fiend. Calculated at 191 IBU, this is one hoppy beer. Also 8.2% ABV this beer won't last long. Appearing with Erroneous IPA, Spring Blonde, Green's ESB, Anonymous Wheat and The Jumbe Porter, named after their favorite rhino. 10% of proceeds are donated to help save those elegant animals. For those of you wondering who Smiling Toad Brewery is - it is the former KB Kraft Beer - now under new ownership and a new name.

Rocky Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) - This big little brewery is turning 5 on June 8th and with this anniversary comes word that RMB is planning to put some of its beers in cans later this year. Plus, this brewery who normally only sells on site, will be selling kegs to local restaurants and bars soon as well. Rocky Mountain Brewery is known for their experimentals beers and that tradition will continue.

Rock Bottom (Colorado Springs) - A Zombier? Class V is on tap.

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - There's going to be a Crazy Mountain Keg Party tonight (6/6/13) at Lulu's BBQ in Louisville, Colorado. For $15 you'll get all you can drink, play some Corn-hole and sit out on the patio. It starts at 5pm. Located at 701 B Main Street.

Ska Brewing (Durango) - Coming up on Friday, a Happy Hour event with live music from Pimpbot and $2 Blondes (that's beer guys).
