Colorado Beer NewsToday is Daniel Boone Day. June 7th marks the day in 1769 when the explorer and woodsman first entered the forests of what would later become Kentucky. Bring out that explorer in yourself today and try a new craft beer style you've never had or have rarely visited. Who knows, you might just discover a new territory in craft beer to explore on your own. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, June 7th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Great Divide Brewing (Denver) - With the official start of summer a few weeks away, Great Divide is sounding last call for their spring seasonals. This includes Heyday - a Belgian Style White Ale, their 19th Anniversary Ale, and the their Chocolate Oak Aged Yeti - each won't be around much longer this year - so stock up while you can. Also, don't forget to get tix for their 19th Anniversary Party set for Saturday, June 15th from 2 to 6pm at their tap room in Denver.

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - Do you know that extremely rare Westvleteren 12 beer that's made in Belgium? Well, Dry Dock doesn't have any of that, but they have the next best thing - Waltvleteren 12 - it's an American made Belgian-style Quad that's sure to please. Better get in soon to get some before it's all tapped out. Also, it's a firkin Friday as well. Try their Hop The Plank Extra Pale Dry-Hopped with Citra hops. That taps at 3pm.

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Denver) - For those of you who missed out on Sour Fest tickets, the next best thing is happening over at Crooked Stave as they are releasing 5 new beers including: Musty Cedar Box (burgundy sour), Nightmare on Brett (dark BA sour), WaelzBlood (sour peach & hibiscus), Razzy Surette, and St. Bretta w/Blood Oranges. Not only that, they still have some Wild Wild Brett Violet left. Get your sour on from 12pm to 10pm.

Highlands Ranch Beer Festival (Highlands Ranch) - This Saturday marks the 1st ever HRBF in Civic Green Park from 1pm to 6pm. Cost is $35 at the gate (if it's not already sold out).

Boulder County

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - Not only is Avery hosting their sold out annual Sour Fest this Saturday, but they are also releasing two barrel aged beers on consecutive Sundays. This Sunday at 5pm stop in for Momi Hiwa, a rum barrel coconut porter. Then on Father's Day at 5pm they're releasing Ross's's' Melange - a wine barrel-aged wild ale. They are #15 and #16 respectively in their Barrel-Aged Series.

FATE Brewing Co (Boulder) - This coming Wednesday, June 12th, at 3:00pm FATE Brewing Company will be tapping a special limited cask version of their Parcae Belgian Pale Ale. This will be a one night only cask so get there early to try a glass.

Northern Colorado

Taste of Fort Collins (June 7-9) - Don't forget - Today, Saturday and Sunday will be the annual Taste of Fort Collins at Civic Center Park and 3 other locations scattered around Old Town. Plenty of local and national restaurants will be serving up their best cuisine. Grab a craft beer to pair with it from the Odell / New Belgium Craft Beer Pavilion. Odell Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Are you a Ride the Rockies fan? Be sure to visit the Odell Brewing beer garden that will be set up at the end of each stage of the event this year. Enjoy craft beer, local food and live music each day - June 8 - 15, 2013. Also, don't forget to stop into their taproom and try one of them many pilot brews. Odell is now open Sundays too 11am to 6pm.

Pateros Creek Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Tonight marks the debut of PCBC's FoCo Funny Fridays - Open Mic Comedy from 7:30pm - 9:30pm. There will be a headliner comic that goes from 9:30pm to 10pm to wrap the evening. Think you're funny? Prove it! A pint might just help you deliver that great joke of yours a bit better.

Southern Front Range

The Feast of Saint Arnold (Colorado Springs) - Fermentedly Challenged is hosting a giveaway for two FREE VIP tickets to this unique beer festival happening on Saturday, June 15th. These tix will get you in 1 hour early at 11am, have close in free VIP parking, access to limited beers and food, plus you get to listen to free live music. More event info on the Beer Calendar. Pikes Peak Brewing (Monument) - Bring your favorite four legged canine buddy to PPBC today at 5:30pm for Yappy Hour with Camp Bow Wow Monument and you'll get $1 off your favorite PPBC beer. Woof! Down boy that's my beer!

Mountains and West

Dillon Dam Brewery (Dillon) - Coming up on Tap It Tuesday - June 11th at 5pm - stop in for a taste of their weekly limited batch 5 gallon keg of DAM IPA aged on Grand Marnier soaked white oak with an extra pound of Simcoe hops added. $5 half-pints available while it lasts this coming Tuesday. Also - ask for their newsletter 15% Off Lunch Special (expires June 21st). Also, ask for their newsletter 30% OFF Pub Dinner Menu Sunday through Thursday from 5-10pm (expires June 20th).

Steamworks Brewing (Durango) - Today at 3pm, Steamworks will tap their 1st Friday Firkin. This months it's "Skip & Go Naked". It's a refreshing summer brew not to be missed. It's made with a base of their Colorado K├Âlsch with lemon juice and zest and some peach syrup. Your glass will also be garnished with a lemon slice. This beer will be served at firkin temperature of 55 degrees F.

Carbondale Bread and Brew Fest (Carbondale) - Heading to the western slope this weekend? Stop in at Carbondale for their 2nd Annual Carbondale Bread and Brew Fest at the 3rd Street Center / PAC3 on June 7th and 8th. This event combines making bread and beer, live music, puppetry and more. Details on the Beer Fest Calendar.

Eddyline Brewing Company (Buena Vista) - The beer is flowing fast in the mountains these day. And to keep up with the demand, Eddyline brewed overtime and created over 100 barrels (3100+ gallons) of beer in a single week - their personal record. At this rate they may have to expand once again soon. There will be plenty of Eddyline beer ready for FIBArk (Whitewater boating festival in nearby Salida, CO).
