Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Jerky Day. Sasquatch isn't the only one who likes jerky. Jerky is the 4th top selling salty snack in the USA even beating out popcorn and pretzels. It may even surprise you that many flavors of jerky pair well with beer! Try a pairing yourself today. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, June 12th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Great American Beer Festival (Denver) - Just a reminder to set your alarm clocks to buy tickets to the 2013 GABF on the following dates: AHA/BA Members pre-sale starts at 10:00am Mountain time July 30th, 2013. General Public sale starts on July 31st, 2013 at 10:00am Mountain time. Ticket sales are once again being handled by Ticketmaster, so if you want tickets you'd better start clicking right at 10:00am because these will most likely sell out within 30 minutes of being on sale. Expect to pay over $80 a ticket including Ticketmaster service fees. If you fear being shut out you can always sign-up to be a volunteer, but even that has a waiting list. AHA/BA members can also purchase Farm to Table tickets for $140 each.

Castle Rock Homebrew Supply (Castle Rock) and Parry's Pizza (Castle Rock) - Getting the itch to learn how to homebrew? Join in at the next beginner brew class on-site at Parry's Pizza out on their deck on Tuesday, June 18th starting at 6:00pm. The $25 class fee includes homebrewing instruction as well as a pizza dinner. For more info and to RSVP email: eric[at]castlerockhomebrew.com.

Lone Tree Brewing (Lone Tree) - They've been open for a year and a half, but now they are celebrating the debut of their new outdoor patio. Check out today's press release that gives details of their patio grand opening celebration happening this Saturday, June 15th. During this event they plan to release a new seasonal too!

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - If it's Wednesday, it must mean there's a new firkin tapping at Copper Kettle! Today they'll be tapping a cask of "Smoked Maibock" as part of their June Smoked Firkin month.

Epic Beer Festival (Denver) - One of the biggest summer beer festivals is headed to the Colorado Convention Center on June 28th & 29th across 3 different tasting sessions. There will be over 300+ craft beers to sample from over 120+ breweries. Tickets are still available at: www.epicbeerfestival.com - it's going to be one of the Summer's biggest beer fests!

Colorado Plus Brew Pub (Wheat Ridge) - This small brewpub with a lot of taps (56) is finally going to put up some of their own beer on their tap wall on Friday, June 21st. Adam, the brewer, has been busy brewing beer and will be releasing 4 different C+ beers. According to the Colorado+ blog, they plan to release some Zombie-movie inspired beers including: "Undead Red" - a Belgian-style Red Ale, and "Bitter Off Dead" - a double IPA. The other 2 beers are: "Cinnamon Almond Ale" and a "Berliner Weiss" - a low ABV soured wheat beer.

Yak & Yeti Brewpub (Arvada) - Just in time for all this heat - Yak & Yeti is releasing "Victorian Sunrise Wheat" today, June 12th at 4pm. This is a 5.2% ABV 18 IBU cloudy wheat beer based on a hefeweizen recipe. This beer is designed to be less fruity than regular wheat beers. This beer comes out just once a year so enjoy it while it lasts!

Dad & Dude's Breweria (Aurora) - It's poker night at Dad & Dudes! The games start at 8pm. Stop in earlier for a beer. They've got these brews on tap tonight: Liquid Resume Pale Ale, Dank IPA, Model Citizen Blonde, Basil Blonde, and Fathom Amber Ale.

Parry's Pizza (Greenwood Village) - This Saturday from 11am to close, Parry's Pizza in Greenwood Village is hosting another in a series of Odell Brewing Company tap takeovers. Parry's will have quite the line-up of Odell beer on tap including: Celastrina, Criss Cross, FC Collusion, Float Chocolate Stout, Chili Trek, Passion Fruit Orange IPA, Lugene - Nitro, Amuste, Treeshaker, Double Pilsner, Myrcenary, St. Lupulin Extra Pale Ale, 90 Shilling, Loose Leaf, Easy St. Wheat, 5 Barrel Pale Ale, Cutthroat Porter, Levity Amber Ale and Red Ale. Come thirsty (and hungry too!).

Golden City Brewery (Golden) - The Summer Solstice is nearly here and GCB is planning a Summer Solstice party at the brewery on Saturday, June 22nd from 11am to 7pm. This has always been a fun event. There will be live music, plenty of food, and of course lots of GCB beer flowing. They will be selling special edition glasses that day along with your beer. This event also acts as a fundraiser for Art Reaching Kids. Stop in and say hello.

Boulder County

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - Did you get some of that barrel-aged coconut rum barrel porter last week? No? Well there's another barrel-aged release happening this Sunday, June 16th for their new Ross's's' Melange - a wild ale aged in Chardonnay barrels with grape must. Check out their press release for all the details on how you can get some of those bottles.

Very Nice Brewing Company (Nederland) - Attention artists! If you were planning to attend their Paints & Pints class at the brewery tonight please be aware that they've had to move the date to NEXT Wednesday, June 19th from 7pm - 8:30pm. The Love of Beer (Movie) - There's a movie showing this Friday night, June 14th at the Boedecker Theatre at the Daily in Boulder entitled: "The Love of Beer". It's all about the history of women in brewing and features the women of craft beer. The movie starts at 7:30pm this Friday. Asher Brewing (Boulder) - Organic beer brewer Asher Brewing Company is almost ready for canning their "Green Bullet Organic India Pale Ale". They're working out the final approvals on the cans and in the next few weeks will begin filling new 16oz cans of their brew. Look for these cans in local stores in July!

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Expansion continues at Left Hand. Today they installed two new huge outdoor fermentors, #7 and #8. That can only mean one thing - More Beer Coming Soon!

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) - Think it's too hot to sit outside to enjoy a beer? Think again! Twisted Pine just extended their patio awning to cover their entire patio! Sip a brew outside in the shade - it's beer drinking weather after all!

Northern Colorado

Colorado Brewers' Festival (Ft. Collins) - Three bloggers recently each put out an article describing their suggested 3-day itinerary for spending time in Fort Collins, Colorado during the upcoming Colorado Brewers Festival coming up on June 22-23, 2013. See what The Brew Bros, HeidiTown and Fermentedly Challenged suggests when you visit Old Town in Fort Collins.

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - To survive this record heat we've been having you'll need to keep plenty of cold beer on hand. What better way to do that than to fill up your growler at a discount today? Stop in and fill er up!

Knockin' Rocks Brooms and Brewfest (Ft. Collins) - There's a brand new beer fest this year in Fort Collins happening on June 29th outside at the NoCo Ice Center in Fort Collins. This is a special event that combines the fun of the sport of curling with a beer fest. Indoors, try your hand at the art of curling and outside drink beers from many local craft breweries! Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Rumor has it that the brewery will have a new release tonight in the form of "Angie's Dill Pickle Pale Ale". Soak up that beer with food from The Road Grill parked outside.

Southern Front Range

Pikes Peak Brewing CompanyPikes Peak Brewing Co (Monument) - Yesterday, PPBC unveiled a new logo for the brewery and with it also redesigned the logos and a name or two of their beers. Starting on June 20th, PPBC will begin canning some of their beers with the help of a mobile canning line. Look for their Elephant Rock IPA to be the first in cans this month. Mountains and West

San Luis Valley Brewing Co (Alamosa) - Thursday, June 20th marks the special return of their Saddle Up Strong Scotch Ale. Normally, this beer is a favorite of locals during the winter, but will now be available in June. The release starts at 12 noon. Bring in Dad on Sunday for Father's Day and get $2.50 all day just for him. Then on Friday, June 21st come for the Rails & Rodeo Block Party. There will be live music and a Beer Garden with burgers on San Juan Avenue next to the brewer from 6pm to 11:30pm.
