Colorado Beer NewsHappy Friday! It's the 2nd weekend of summer and there are plenty of beer festivals, tappings and events happening this time of year. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, June 28th, 2013.

Metro Denver

Epic Beer Festival (Denver) - The festival starts today and runs through tomorrow at the Colorado Convention Center. Three sessions with 350+ different craft beers and 120+ breweries. Tickets still available online. Visit www.epicbeerfestival.com.

Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - If it's Friday then it must be another Firkin Friday at Dry Dock! Today's special firkin is a Dry Hopped Amber Ale. This brew taps at 3:00pm. Start your weekend off right!

Parry's Pizza (Highlands Ranch) - Don't forget tonight's Elevation Beer Company Pint Night starting at 5:30pm at Parry's in Highlands Ranch. The brewery reps will be passing out fine glassware when you buy one of their brews. #AleYeah

Beer By Design Brewery (Northglenn) - Today is their official Grand Opening ribbon cutting event at 4:30pm. Come experience this brand new brewery and their beers. The Orange Crunch Food Truck will be on hand for grub and listen to some classic rock live music from Watersong from 7pm to 9:30pm. Located at: 2100 E. 112th Ave in Northglenn, CO.

Declaration Brewing Company (Denver) - Declaration Brewing Company announced today their inaugural location at 2030 South Cherokee St. in Denver, Colorado. Just North of Evans between Broadway and Sante Fe. A spacious beer garden and tap room are slated for opening in early 2014. Boulder County

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Today, Left Hand will be officially tapping Homefront IPA! Head to the Tasting Room for your first taste at 5:00pm, and at 7pm they will live auction off one of the bats used in the brew (yes this beer was aged on wood baseball bats). This beer was a collaboration between 9 different breweries. All proceeds will go to Operation Homefront who assist military families.

Twelve Degree Brewing (Louisville) - Tomorrow marks the official Grand Opening event at Twelve Degree Brewing starting at 1:00pm Saturday, June 29th. They are located at 820 Main Street in Louisville, CO. They've been unofficially open since Tuesday but are celebrating big on Saturday. Today they also added their new Tripel on tap. It's a dry, golden ale with a touch of sweetness that packs a punch at 9.2% ABV! Come check them out.

Northern Colorado

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Attention Avery barrel-aged fans! The Mayor has acquired a case of 12oz bottles of Avery Brewing Company's Momi Hiwa - a rum barrel-aged Imperial porter with coconut! It's a whopping 17.09% ABV and worth the big price for a bottle ($16). Stop in and order one to see why this was a very sought after brew!

New Belgium Brewery (Ft. Collins) - In case you were wondering if there were any breweries open on July 4th - yes! New Belgium's tasting room will be open from 10am to 6pm. Stop in for a beer!

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - Tickets are on-sale for their 1st Anniversary party - "Fest of Ale" happening on July 3rd at 7:00pm. Over 10 beers on tap plus staff member special brews, an Imperial Stout vertical tasting and a new Raspberry Stout. Tickets are $35 and are available in the taproom.

Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) Today marks the tapping of their "Mother Should I Trust The Government" at both Black Bottle and The Mayor of Old Town. This was a collaboration with The Mayor and their Beer Betties group. It's a Belgian-style Saison with Earl Gray Tea. It weighs in at 6.8% ABV and 27 IBUs. It taps at 5:30pm in both locations in FoCo.

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Need a good laugh? Stop in the brewery tonight at 7:00pm for FOCO Free Funny Fridays. Mitch Jones headlines the evening. Get your beer and grab a seat for an evening of jokes.

Wiley Roots Brewing Company (Greeley) - Tomorrow, Saturday June 29th from 12pm to 5pm Wiley Roots will open for the 1st time for a soft opening. They will have 2 of their beers on tap including an American-style Wheat and a Chocolate Porter. Look for word on their official Grand Opening coming very soon. Located at 625 3rd Street Unit D in Greeley, CO - right next to Syntax Spirits.

Southern Front Range

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Bristol Brewing dug into their archive recently and discovered they still had 15 bottles of their Bristol XXX Warlock (double imperial stout) brewed back in 2003. They are selling single 12oz bottles for $25 while they last. They'll even throw in a Warlock glass with it. At 18.4% ABV, this is one big brew that stands the test of time. Read my review of this beer back in 2011 when it was 8 years old.

Colorado Whiskey & Beer Tasting (Colorado Springs) - The Fine Arts Center (FAC) presents Whiskey For My Men, Beer For My Horses , the fourth annual summer fundraiser held in the intimate FAC Courtyard that features whiskey and beer tastings from Colorado craft distilleries and breweries, barbeque, and live music courtesy of The J. Miller band. Breweries and distilleries lined up include Oskar Blues Brewery (Lyons), Rocky Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs), Trinity Brewing Company (Colorado Springs), Kraft Beer (Colorado Springs), Distillery 291 (Colorado Springs), Deerhammer Distilling (Buena Vista), Spring 44 (Loveland), and Leopold Brothers (Denver). Buffalo Gals will have heapin' helpins' of New West BBQ available for purchase. Tickets now on sale; $20 for FAC members; $25 for non-members. It runs today, June 28th from 5pm to 8pm. Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Today's Friday Firkin is their Lava Lake Wit infused with Acai berries. This makes it a healthier beer to drink! Stop in for a taste today as you explore the Vail valley area.
