Colorado Beer NewsThis week is shaping up to be another busy week for craft beer here in Colorado. There will be several festivals this weekend, new beer tappings, expanded distributions, a beer run and more. With over 170 different breweries to choose from here in the state there is no lack of variety to be found. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, July 16th, 2013. Metro Denver

Beer By Design Brewery (Northglenn) - This Saturday, July 20th at the brewery starting at 11am Beer By Design Brewery is hosting "Host Cars & Cold Beers" - a summer Car Show. They will have live music, plenty of food, giveaways, beer and more.

MRS Brewing Company (Aurora/Centennial) - They may not be open for another year yet, but this future brewery somehow has one of their pilot beers on tap, a porter, at Clavin's Bar and Grill in Parker, Colorado. This is a single keg and will not last long. Get a sneak peek of their beer while it lasts! They've also been kegging a Cream Ale, an Amber and an IPA as well. Follow them on Facebook to see where you might be able to sample their brews next.

Elizabeth Celtic Festival (Elizabeth) - This year at the annual Elizabeth Celtic Festival they will be hosting two pubs - one indoors (The Saucy Wench) and one outside (The Rogue). And one of the breweries soon to open in Colorado - Kokopelli Beer Company - will be pouring their beers at the fest. Kokopelli will be pouring their Copper Road Ale - an English ESB, Irish Red - a bold malty red ale, Irish Dry Stout - a typical Irish stout recipe, and a Belgian Wit - a light malty wheat ale. You can also try hard cider, hard lemonade, mead and Scotch whiskys at the pubs as well. More info on this festival at: elizabethcelticfestival.com.

Great Divide Brewing Co (Denver) - Their Wolfgang Doppelbock now comes in 12oz bottles, but only exclusively in their "Big Show" variety 12-packs. It is mixed in along with Hercules, Yeti and Hades. Look for it in local liquor stores wherever GDBC beers are sold.

Littlest Big Wild & Sour FestHops & Pie (Denver) - Don't forget - this Saturday, July 20th is the Denver's Littlest Big Wild & Sour Fest at Hops & Pie at 3920 Tennyson Street in Denver, CO. There will be over a dozen wild and sour beers on tap for you to explore and enjoy. The fest starts at noon. Flights & single pours will be available. AC Golden Brewing Co (Golden) - The Ritz-Carlton in downtown Denver is paying homage to the state’s beer culture by selecting Herman Joseph’s Private Reserve as the Official Beer of the Ritz-Carlton in Denver. This beer is now available in all 202 guest room honor bars, ELWAY’S Downtown - the signature steakhouse of The Ritz-Carlton Denver, The Ritz-Carlton Club Lounge, and has been incorporated into the property’s culinary banquet menus.

Copper Kettle Brewing Co (Denver) - This Wednesday, July 17th, Copper Kettle's weekly firkin will be a "Strawberry Kolsch" - the brew taps at 3pm and runs til 9pm. East Coast Joe's will also be on hand at 4pm for your food needs.

Dad & Dudes Breweria (Aurora) - Have you tried their Watermelon Basil Wheat yet? Better come in, that one's going fast. Today's beers on tap: Nitro Milk Stout, Fathom Amber Ale, Buzzed Weasel Coffee Stout, & Liquid Resume Pale Ale. Guest brews: Colorado Native Amber Lager, Craft Lager Upslope, Buster Nut Brown Ale SKA, & Gravity Belgian Abbey Ale!

Wynkoop Brewing Co (Denver) - According to their website, sales of their "liquid art" (aka beer) is up a huge 80% for the first 6 months of 2013 over last year. That's an amazing growth for one year. Grats to Wynkoop on this outstanding sales figure.

Boulder County

Crystal Springs floorplanCrystal Springs Brewing (Louisville) - New floor plans have been released for their upcoming new tasting room and brewhouse in Louisville. According to the plan, "The project involved a tenant finish for a two-story, 3,550 square foot space, divided into two primary area: a Tasting Room with upstairs meeting and office space, and a fully equipped Brewhouse and Cold Room in back. The Tasting Room is design to seat 45 guests in a variety of settings, and is equipped with a cooler, direct taps, and bar seating area. The space is meant to retain a raw, industrial feel, and will feature reclaimed-wood furnishings and an acid stained concrete floor." (Image provided by RBB Architects, Inc.)

Sanitas Brewing (Boulder) - Here's an update on the progress on this upcoming brewery. They currently have their brewhouse put together and are in the process of installing the last pieces of the steam piping and electricity. Their fermenters, Brite tanks, kegs, and walk in cooler are at the brewery. Most of the wall and painting has been completed in the brewing area and tap room. The bar is being completed and the tap room furniture is on the way. They hope to have federal and state licensing in the near future.

Upslope Brewing Co (Boulder) - Tomorrow, July 17th at 5:45pm join in for the first annual Boulder Nordic Sport/Upslope Taproom to Taproom Run! Meet at the new Upslope Taproom at 1898 S. Flatiron Court with free transportation to the Lee Hill Taproom where the run will begin. The 7 mile route consists of paved trails, bike paths, and dirt trails. The run will finish back at the Flatiron taproom with discounted beer and food.

Avery Brewing Co (Boulder) - Tickets are now on sale for Avery Brewing's 20th Anniversary party set for Sunday, August 4th, 2013. For this special occasion, Adam Avery is venturing into his cellar to pull out a wide selection of rare and vintage beers to be poured during the party including Dihos Dactylion, 2005 Samael's, Überschwein, Rumpkin and more. A ticket scores you six brews, a pig roast & BBQ buffet, and live tunes from The Matt Flaherty Band and Roots & Rhythm! Get tix at: averyanniversary.eventbrite.com.

Bootstrap Brewing (Niwot) - Bootstrap is growing! They're taking over the entire building which means more production capacity soon. They’ll have complete access to the new space by October 1st and are excited to start planning the addition of more fermenters and cooler space which means more beer ahead! Recently at the Los Angeles International Beer Competition, Bootstrap won 2 medals for their Flagstaff Amber (Honorable Mention) and a silver for their Boomer Brown. Also, did you know Bootstrap is now selling 22oz Bomber bottles? They've packaged their Insane Rush IPA and Backfire Chili beer and are selling them to select stores and restaurants in Niwot, Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette, Louisville and Estes Park. Coming soon to bottles: Worthog Stout. Plus Insane Rush IPA and Stick's Pale will be headed to cans soon.

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - Come out and try the last bit of Grandma's Garden Kolsch and enjoy happy hour all night tonight (July 16th) with $1 off pints of their year round beers! Also, get $1 off your first pint any other time using your Colorado Card.

Northern Colorado

New Belgium Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Fresh off their announcement yesterday that New Belgium will be distributing to Delaware in August, the brewery will also be "exporting" to British Columbia starting on September 9th, 2013. They will officially kick off their entry into Canada at the Great Canadian Beer Festival on September 6th. The brewery will initially roll out six-packs and draft of Fat Tire, Ranger IPA and its current seasonal release. Ninety days later, New Belgium will begin to release limited selections from its Lips of Faith, Hop Kitchen and Trip series, as well as Rampant Imperial IPA. This is the first time that New Belgium beers will be exported outside of the USA.

In other New Belgium news, New Belgium and Cigar City Brewing of Florida recently got together to brew up a new Lips Of Faith collaboration beer that will debut later on this year. New Belgium is going to start distributing beer to Florida at the end of this month and the two breweries decided to celebrate that with a collaboration brew. Details on the pending release will come out soon.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Tonight at the brewery Bottlecap BBQ will be serving up food for the 1st time at High Hops. Wednesday's firkin will be a Summer Session Ale. Thursday, High Hops will be closed for a private party. Then Friday 6-8pm and Saturday 5-7pm bring live music and more food trucks from Bedrock BBQ (Fri) and Chaulkboard Gourmet Express (Sat). Then stop in Sunday 3pm for a brewery and field tour and see what goes on behind the scenes and have some fun while you're at it. Ladies night then runs from 4-7pm. Liquid Poets Society (Ft. Collins) - A local Colorado homebrew club Liquid Poets Society (LPS) recently received an honor from the American Homebrewers Association by being named the AHA Club of the Week. LPS has about 150 members and is based in Fort Collins. They have over 25 BJCP judges in the club as well. Read all about them in the AHA article.

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Stop in today and be the person who can finish off their keg of Never Nude Pale Ale. If you're that person you'll get the first pour of the next keg - Not the Irish Red Ale on Nitro for free! Also, if you bike-in to the brewery today you'll get $1 off pints all night long.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - For their 3rd Anniversary, Grimm Brothers is planning 2 big events. The first is on Friday, July 26th from 6pm to 9pm with the Grimm Brothers Anniversary Dinner at The Garden Room, 697 N Denver Ave (behind their taproom). They're serving a Cajun Boil and unlimited Grimm Bros beer including rarities and live music. Get tickets at grimmbrothers.brownpapertickets.com or in the taproom. Then on Saturday, July 27th from noon to 9pm it's their 3rd Anniversary Party at the taproom (free to attend). They'll have special beer releases, firkins, rare & unique brews food, live music and a limited edition anniversary Pilsner glass for purchase. This party is gonna be a blowout! Events for the whole family. Also, today (July 16th) is $2 off all Growlers - all day long.

Hunters Moon Meadery (Severance) - Anyone interested in attending an Open House at the meadery on Saturday, August 3rd in Severance, CO should email Kim at kim@huntersmoonmeader.com along with how many in your party will attend and she will email you directions and details. They will have snacks and mead samples available for all to try.

Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - It may only be July, but already events for the upcoming Great American Beer Festival are already being planned including a FCB Beer Dinner at Buckhorn Exchange in Denver, CO on Thursday, October 10th. This 5-course / 5-beer dinner will feature two of FCB's "Out of the Ashes" smoked beers and 3 other FCB brews. Seatings will be at 6pm and 8:30pm for this special dinner pairing event.

Southern Front Range

Rocky Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) - Their Strawberry Cyder is up on tap for all you hard cider lovers. It's in the tasting room and also available for growler fills.

Mountains and West

Two Rascals Brewing Co (Montrose) - Every third Wednesday of the month, Two Rascals Brewing and The watch (newspaper) is hosting free film screenings starting at 7pm at the brewery. On July 17th, they will be screening 2 films "Eastern Rises" and "Thaitarium Project". There will be $1 tacos by Ah Chihuahua and 7 Two Rascals beers on tap during the screenings.

The Lost Dutchman Beer Festival (Divide) - This Saturday, July 20th from 2pm to 6pm there will be a beer festival featuring beers from 12+ breweries up at the Lost Dutchman Ranch near Divide Colorado. Tickets are $35 advance or $40 at the gate for general admission. VIP tickets are $50 advance and $55 at the gate. Purchase at: www.mcgintyswoodovenpub.com. Participating breweries include: Bristol Brewing, Eddyline Brewing, Great Divide, Paradox Beer Co, Pikes Peak Brewing, Red Leg Brewing and more. Live music will also be provided by "Now But Not Yet".

Crazy Mountain Brewery (Edwards) - This Saturday, July 20th, their taproom is hosting an Art Show Party featuring art from local Colorado artists from 2-6pm. See live painting demos. Get $2 pint specials from 2-7pm. Live music by "The Olora Brothers" from 6-10pm.

Ska Brewing Co (Durango) - Cases and cases of their special wax dipped bottles of Ska Decadent IPA just rolled off the line and are heading out to stores. Look for fresh bottles in a store near you very soon.
