Colorado Beer NewsToday is Fellowship of the Ring Day. On this day back in 1954, J.R.R. Tolkien's first part of The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring was released. And here in 2013 they are still making movies with characters from that book. Cheers to all you fans of Hobbits, Elves, Dwarves and Orcs! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, July 19th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on FermentedlyChallenged.com, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Goose Island Beer Company (Illinois) - Goose Island is in the midst of a national launch for many of their beers. Some of their beers are being made up in Fort Collins at the AB-InBev plant. Their Denver "Migration Week" is happening from July 23rd through the 26th and several events are being held at several locations around the state. One of them will be held at Historian's Ale House (24 Broadway - Denver) on Wednesday, July 24th from 6-10pm. Founder John Hall will be on hand along with their brewer Eric Ponce. They'll be bringing along 10 different Goose Island craft beers and also sampling their Bourbon County Rare!

Colorado Plus Brew Pub (Wheat Ridge) - This week they've released two more of their own beers. 1) World War Z - a 9.1% 152 IBU Wheat Wine, and 2) Adamtinus - a 7.8% 20 IBU Dunkelweizenbock. They also have 56 other beers on tap and typically 3-6 new beers are tapped daily. They also have daily food specials going on as well.

Cannonball Creek Brewing (Golden) - Their taplist is full today. Here's what's pouring: Saison Nu, Brickyard Porter, Victorville Red, Mindbender IPA, Featherweight Pale, Rosemary Sourdough saison, High Water Wit, Solid Gold Belgian Golden, Sour Doubt Stout, and Salvius (specialty). Growlers also available.

Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - They're back! Odyssey Beerwerks ran out of their Hydro Flask stainless steel growlers for their Adventurer Club members last week, but a new shipment is in! If you signed up recently, or never picked yours up way back when, stop by the brewery and grab yours. If you want one but aren't a member yet, better hurry, they've only got 40 spots left (or until the end of the month - whichever comes first).

Hops For Habitat (Aurora) - Plan to join in at the Plains Conservation Center in Aurora from 5pm to 9pm for the 9th annual fundraiser. Over 15 Colorado breweries will be pouring beers. There will also be three live band performing including Deep Cover (headliner). Food trucks will also be on hand. Enjoy wagon rides, the scenery and more. Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - This Saturday, July 20th from 4-8pm is special event. Join in for the second annual "A Night to Remember", as Copper Kettle raises a pint to honor Alexander C. Teves, age 24, brew club member #28, who was one of the victims of the Aurora theater shooting. This year, CKBC is going all out and hosting a craft beer festival at Copper Kettle Brewing Co in Alex and all of the victims's honor, teaming up with 11 different CO breweries for unlimited beer tastings from breweries such as Crooked Stave and Wit's End, four food trucks, two bands and a DJ! They'll be hosting a silent auction in a private event room next door to the brewery, where you can place your bid for charity on tons of different items! Boulder County

Very Nice Brewing Co (Nederland) - Ladies, be proud of that beer belly! Bellies & Beers is back at Very Nice Brewing Company this Saturday at noon in the tap room. $10 gets you a one hour belly dance class plus a pint of beer! RSVP to the tap room at 303-258-3770.

Upslope Brewing Co (Boulder) - Mark your calendars, National #IPAday is Thursday, August 1 and Upslope is hosting a shindig to celebrate one of craft beer's most beloved styles – the India Pale Ale – with 9 different IPAs on tap! Join beer enthusiasts, breweries (Upslope, of course!) and bars across the globe in a collective toast to this awesome style! Head over to Upslope's Flatiron Park tap room (1898 S Flatiron Court, Boulder, CO 80301), and raise a toast to the beer with the most hops! Be sure to check-in our brews on Untapped to earn that special IPA Day 2013 badge while you're there!

Avery Brewing Co (Boulder) - Tonight in their tap room starting at 5pm, stop in and get ├╝bersmacked in the face by Avery Uberschwein, their big 9.2% Barleywine. This batch is infused with Columbus hops. This beer will also make an appearance at their upcoming 20th Anniversary Party on August 3rd.

Kyle's Brew Fest (Boulder) - Kyle Hollingsworth of The String Cheese Incident brings his Summer of Brews across the nation – a series of exclusive craft beer events he will host throughout the season. On Saturday, July 20th, at Boulder Beer Company in Boulder, CO, fans will be treated to a music set from Kyle Hollingsworth Band and enjoy from a selection of more than 60 craft beers from more than 30 breweries. Kyle’s Hoopla Pale Ale and unique collaborations from Hollingsworth and select breweries will also be on hand. Tickets are on sale at www.kylehollingsworth.com. Tickets will be available for $25 through Thursday, May 30, at 11:59pm local time, prices will increase thereafter. Festival will benefit Conscious Alliance.

Northern Colorado

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - New Beer! "The Baron" was released today at noon and is their first in the Six Soldiers of Fortune Series where they will feature historic German sour beers. It's a traditional Berliner Weisse with a solid wheat malt body and an assertive sour flavor. There is also Raspberry or Woodruff syrup available to mix with that brew if you desire. Also, Chaulkboard Gourmet Express is on site with their Bacon Cheeseburger $5 special.

Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) - What's on tap today? How about: Black Bottle Brewery Hipster, Black Bottle Brewery The Aviation Cocktail -NITRO, Black Bottle Brewery There Goes The Neighborhood, Black Bottle Brewery La Migra, Black Bottle Brewery Anarchy Porter. Wiley Roots Brewing Company (Greeley) - Don't forget - tomorrow, July 20th marks the Grand Opening of Greeley's newest brewery - Wiley Roots Brewing Company. They open at noon and run late. They'll have 3 food trucks on hand and 4 different beers on tap. Located at 625 3rd Street Unit D in Greeley, right next door to Syntax Spirits.

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Today's Friday Firkin is a Blonde Ale infused with strawberries. This brew taps at 5pm. Don't let the locals drink all of it!
