Colorado Beer NewsIt's another busy Summer week for craft beer here in Colorado. Plenty of events scheduled plus some upcoming tappings and beer releases. Here's just a bit of what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, July 30th, 2013. National News

25 Best Craft Breweries in America 2013 - TheDailyMeal.com received over 11,500 votes from readers all over the USA to vote for their favorite craft breweries and 5 Colorado breweries made the top 25 list. #6 New Belgium Brewery (Ft. Collins), #11 Odell Brewing Company (Ft. Collins), #13 Avery Brewing Company (Boulder), #14 Oskar Blues (Lyons/Longmont, CO) and #16 Great Divide Brewing Company (Denver). Craft Beer Industry (USA) - The Brewers Association just released mid-year statistics for the US Craft Beer Industry this week and all signs are looking good as a whole. Mid-year production volume increased from 6.4 million barrels in 2012 to 7.3 million barrels so far this year. 2013 has also shown a 15% increase in dollar sales of craft beer. The total number of breweries in the USA mid-year was around 2,538, up 446 breweries since June 2012. These breweries employ over 108,440 workers, full and part-time. The number of breweries is at it's highest since the 1870s.

Metro Denver

GABF Tickets (Denver) - Tickets went on sale earlier today for American Homebrewers Association members for the 2013 Great American Beer Festival and already several sessions have sold out. Tomorrow at 10:00am Mountain time, tickets for General Admission (what's left of them) go on sale to the public. This may end up being a lightning fast sell out, so if you want to try to get tickets then you should expect to be online exactly at 10:00am and start clicking. Tickets sold out in 40 minutes or less last year and may expect to sell out even faster. Tickets are even more expensive this year, but probably won't slow ticket sales. Hops & Pie (Denver) - Every first Friday of the month, Hops & Pie comes up with a unique firkin from one of the areas best breweries. This Friday, August 2nd at 6pm, they'll be tapping a firkin of Upslope Brewing's Galactic Invasion Pale Ale. It's their classic Pale Ale that's been liberally dry hopped with Galaxy hops for a big aroma and flavor boost. Stop in to try this special brew and stay for a bite as well.

Endless Summer Beer & Spirits Festival (Denver) - Coming up on Friday night, August 16th from 8pm to 12am is a benefit beer festival to benefit Water For People. This festival is designed to raise awareness for the importance of water in our lives, and also how important water is for breweries and distilleries and why we should protect our water supply. The Endless Summer Beer & Spirits Festival will take place at the historic Mcnichols Building in downtown Denver. Attendees will enjoy endless amounts of breweries’ summer seasonals like saisons and hefeweizens, award winning cocktails made by the bartenders of the Colorado Bartender’s Guild, food, live music, lounges and other awesome party entertainment. Participating breweries and distilleries include: Great Divide, Ska, Odell, Breckenridge Brewery, Strange, Denver Beer Co., Epic, Spring 44, Peach Street, Golden Moon, Breckenridge, Downslope and many more. Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - Coming up on Tuesday, August 6th, Odyssey will be canning their Helios Hefeweizen. If you've ever wanted to be part of the brewery production process and want to volunteer to help them can then let them know of your interest. They will have two shifts, 8:30am - 12:30pm, and at 12:30pm - 4:30pm.

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - It's not often you come across an Enormous Richard, but if you stop down at Brewery Rickoli tonight around 6:30pm, the brewmaster will be toasting their latest release called Enormous Richard Double Cream Ale. It's a huge ale weighing in at 8.6% ABV and 40 IBU.

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - This Sunday, August 4th at 10:00am come join in for Poses and Pints with Shelly Blais. $15 gets you a yoga class and your first pint of beer is free. Bring your own mat for the class.

World of Beer (Belmar/Lakewood) - The 2nd World of Beer location is about to open in the Belmar area in Lakewood on Monday, August 12th. They'll have 50 beers on tap and lots more in bottles. They will be located at: 7260 W. Alaska Drive in Lakewood, CO. Check them out on Facebook.

Boulder County

Boulder Beer Co (Boulder) - How are you going to celebrate #IPADay this Thursday, August 1st? Why not stop by Boulder Beer's pub and check out the six different IPAs they will have on draft that day including Mojo IPA. Be sure to tweet about your IPA experiences on Twitter using hashtag #IPADay.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - This Saturday at Left Hand Brewing from 12pm to 10pm is their big Leftapalooza event featuring live music, food and craft beer all day long. It's a Mile High Tribute Band Competition featuring 9 different bands. It's also doubling as a fundraiser for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. It's billed as the ultimate music and craft beer experience. More info on their Facebook page.

Gravity Brewing (Louisville) - Plan to participate in the Louisville Bike & Brew this Thursday, August 1st. Bring your bike and start off at Gravity Brewing. They'll meet at 6pm at Gravity Brewing and then leave for Front Range Brewing in Lafayette at 6:45pm. Then after a stay at FRBC they will leave for Twelve Degree Brewing in Louisville. They will be taking the Coal Creek Trail in both directions. You might just want to bring a designated biker on a tandem bike just in case.

BRU (Boulder) - Now available in bottles in select locations around the Boulder area! A limited release of their First Anniversary belgian Style Quadrupel Ale. This beer weighs in at 10.7 ABV and has been aging since December. Also available at BRU handbuilt ales & eats in Boulder. Their restaurant/pub is open Mon-Sat 11:30pm - 3:00pm for lunch. Happy Hours is daily 3-6pm.

Northern Colorado

Gnarly Barley Brew Festival (Loveland) - The Gnarly Barley is back for its 4th year at The Ranch (Larimer County Fair) just outside of the Budweiser Event Center in Loveland this Saturday, August 3rd from 1pm to 6pm. Lots of great local breweries will be participating. Tickets and info at: www.GnarlyBarleyBrewFest.com. VIP tickets are sold out but General Admission still available. Come vote for your festival favorite brewery!

The MainLine (Fort Collins) - Old Town Fort Collins is about to get a brand new restaurant and beer bar right in the heart of it all. It's called The MainLine and it's the brainchild of Breckenridge Brewery and Wynkoop Brewing. This place is huge and features a chef-driven menu and a wide variety of beer on tap. There's two floors of seating including an upstairs Temperance Lounge and a rooftop patio overlooking College Ave. They open tomorrow, July 31st at 125 S. College Avenue in FoCo. Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - Have you gotten your $5 Fill Club card yet? Get one and every fourth growler you get filled is just $5. No need to wait for Sunday or Wednesday to fill up your growlers. You can get a $5 fill with every 4th! Ask your server for a club card.

Mountains and West

Bluegrass & Beer Festival (Keystone) - Coming up this weekend, August 3rd & 4th at Keystone, CO is the 17th Annual Bluegrass & Beer Festival. There will be 30+ breweries in attendance to help quench your thirst while you listen to live music across 3 stages. Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - The 3rd annual Ed Fest - a beer & community festival - is coming up on Saturday, August 17th at the brewery. It's all-you-can-drink beer from over 37 breweries for $35 ($40 at the door). You can also buy VIP tickets online for $65, which include a beer dinner the night before at the brewery, admission to Ed Fest, free food at the festival, a tented private area to chill and a private restroom. Two Rascals Brewing (Montrose) - Today the brewery received and installed two new serving tanks and will greatly expand their capacity for storing beer. They've also recently finished expanding and updating their outdoor deck space. There's more shade too! Come check it out!
