Colorado Beer NewsToday is International Left Hander's Day. It's a day to celebrate all those who use their left hand as their primary writing hand. While many of us are ambidextrous, only a small percentage of the population use their left hand predominantly. Cheers to the lefties! Colorado even has a brewery named after the Left Hand! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, August 13th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on FermentedlyChallenged.com, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - This Thursday August 15th, Odyssey will be tapping a new Discovery series beer. This week's beer is "Asian Pear Tea infused Palm Tree Caribbean Lager". It taps at 5pm sharp. It makes a perfect summer drink for a warm afternoon.

World of Beer (Lakewood) - Last night was their official opening night of the 2nd World of Beer location in Colorado. They are located in the Belmar sector at 7260 W. Alaska Drive in Lakewood, Colorado. Tuesday is Loyalty Day. Loyalty Members receive 25% off all bottles all day. If you already purchased a Loyalty Card and you wear your Loyalty shirt your first draft is on them today!

River North Brewery (Denver) - For this week's Wayward Wednesday tapping, River North has a special Colorado treat for you: J. Marie Saison infused with Palisade peaches! Due to popular demand, they made twice as much of this release compared to past Waywards. The brewery will open at noon Wednesday for the early Rockies game, but first Wayward pour will not be until 3pm so you nine-to-fivers have a chance at getting some.

Boulder County

Avery Brewing Co (Boulder) - Number 17 in their Barrel-aged series of beers is about to be released on Sunday, August 25th. Look for "Thensaurum" - a rum barrel-aged sour ale. Just 310 cases of 12oz bottles were produced. Look for word on the bottle release party on their web site. This brew measures at 8.54% ABV and was dosed with 5 different Brettanomyces yeast strains.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - In honor of #LeftHandDay today, stop by their tasting room wearing a Left Hand Brewing shirt and they'll give you your first pint FREE! International Left Handers Day is a big thing at this brewery. Cheers to all Left Handers!

Upslope Brewing Co (Boulder) - Think you can brew? Upslope is hiring a Brewer! They're looking for one with some great experience. Qualified candidates must have prior experience brewing at a rapidly growing craft brewery. Upslope currently operates two breweries – this position will involve wort production at both locations. Occasional cellar work may be required and candidates with experience operating a vertical pressure leaf filter, 10 sq. meters or larger, are preferred. This position will work closely with laboratory staff, Lead Brewers and reports directly to the Head Brewer. For more details visit their blog on their web site.

Northern Colorado

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - Just released - a barrel-aged version of Cezanne Saison blended with apricots. The brew has been aging for 12 months in French oak. For those who are members of their Growler Club you can get same price growler fills as their regular beer. Get some while this limited batch is still available. Also stay for TNT (Tuesday Night Trivia) starting at 7pm.

Pateros Creek (Ft. Collins) - Don't forget - today is $7 growler fill day on any of their Legends beers if you bring in a Pateros Creek growler. The Legends include: Old Town Ale (Kolsch), Stimulator Pale Ale (Rye Pale Ale), Cache la Porter (Brown Porter), Car 21 (Best Bitter), and Rustic Red (Irish Red).

Buckhorn Brewers (Loveland) - Loveland's newest brewery now has Friday Afternoon Club hours! They'll be open 4:00pm to 8:00pm Friday nights as well as Saturday and Sundays 2:00pm to 8:00pm. Located at 4229 W. Eisenhower Blvd in Loveland, CO.

Echo Brewing (Frederick) - A favorite is back! A new batch of Razz Raspberry Wheat is now back on tap. It's also Trivia Tuesday at Echo Brewing starting at 7:00pm and lasting until 9:00pm. Stop in, grab a brew and grub from Bodacious Eats and compete!

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - The perfect brew for late Summer. Stop in and try their Raspberry Kolsch. They used 6 pounds of fresh raspberries in this limited release small batch brew. Now on tap for a limited time.

Southern Front Range

Bristol Brewing Co (Colorado Springs) - Just in time for their official Grand Opening celebration for their new Ivywild facility, Bristol Brewing is planning to release beers this weekend. "Wit" will be released on Friday, August 16th at 5pm, and "Cheyenne CaƱon Pinon Nut Ale" will be released on Saturday, August 17th at 5pm. Check out their new digs and enjoy the fresh tappings!

Craft Lager Festival (Manitou Springs) - Due to the recent flood in Manitou Springs, the festival that was scheduled for last Saturday has been rescheduled for this coming Saturday, August 17th. It will be held in the Norris-Penrose Event Center from 11am to 3pm and 4pm to 8pm. The festival has now become a benefit event to help those affected by the recent flooding. Visit www.craftlagerfestival.com for more details. All ticket holders for last weekends event will be honored at the rescheduled event. Sorry, no refunds will be available however.

Mountains and West

Carbondale Beer Works (Carbondale) - If you haven't dropped in lately you might want to know what's on tap. This week: Bonedog Amber, Langer Irish Stout (nitro), Whitewater Wit, Avalanche Creek IPA, Crystal Cream Ale and Offbeat Lemon Wheat. Plus 4 other guest brews on tap. Come wet your whistle in Carbondale.

Pagosa Brewing Co (Pagosa Springs) - Congrats go out to their brewer Brandon Schrage who recently earned a Silver medal for Organic Beer at the US Beer Championships for the "Bare Scotsman" - organic Scottish Ale. Not bad considering that was his first recipe.

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Stop by for the Sowing Seeds Cookout fundraiser today at 5:30pm in the tasting room, hosted by Chef Kelly Liken of the famous Restaurant Kelly Liken. $25 gets you food prepared by Chef Liken and a beer from Crazy Mountain.
