Colorado Beer NewsToday is Elvis' Passing Day. Back on this date in 1977, Elvis Presley dies in Memphis, TN. Consider toasting to this musical legend today when you're out enjoying a beer. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, August 16th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Wynkoop Brewing (Denver) - The Wynkoop has teamed up with the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa to produce two special cask ales that will be available at the Brown Palace Hotel's Ship Tavern bar on special hand pumps (aka beer engines). The first is a custom version of their London Calling IPA enhanced with lemongrass. The 2nd is their St. Charles ESB, a hopped amber ale. These will be only handpumps at a Colorado hotel at this time. Stop over to the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa and enjoy cask ales!

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - Today's Friday Firkin is a Dry-Hopped El Dorado Sunday Morning - an easy drinker with a big hoppy bite. Stop in as it's already been tapped since 3pm! Also, the brewery just got bottling a ton of Dry Dock Imperial Pumpkin. Look for this to be on shelves soon!

The Brew on Broadway (Denver) - Tapping tonight at 6:00pm is their Social Club Coffee Milk Stout. What a sweet way to start your weekend!

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - Bringing new meaning to the practice of catch and release, Breckenridge Brewery and bluegrass band Leftover Salmon have caught up with each other to launch the 2nd release in a series of four original songs. The new music is being pre-released exclusively within Breckenridge Brewery’s 12-pack Sampler Packs through October. Each of four song download codes is provided on Artist Series coasters, specially created by four well-known artists from the “Rock Art” community and packaged inside the specially marked Sampler Packs.

Beer By Design (Northglenn) - The release of their Cantiliver Lager is today! It's been in the making for two months (lagers are like that) and is well worth the wait to get a pint.

Boulder County

J Wells Brewery (Boulder) - Ride your bike to the brewery! They just installed some new bike racks at the brewery. Come try them out next time you're pedaling and thirsty! On tap today: The Best!, Chocolate Milk Stout, Ligts Out Stout, Ligts Summer Ale, Junior Haze IPA, and Jamie's Pale Ale.

Front Range Brewing (Lafayette) - Starting on Wednesday, September 11th and for each Wednesday after that (hopefully) FRBC will be hosting Know-It-Alls King Trivia at 6:30pm. This is a limited trial run so let them know how you like it! Perfect night for drinking beer to. Tonight, FRBC is tapping Coal Creek Quad - a chocolate/cherry quadrupel!

Odd13 Brewing (Lafayette) - Something different on tap. Odd13 has 1 keg each of their Dr. Cougar (petite saison) and Succubus (Belgian Golden Strong Ale) infused with peach concentrate. Add some peach to your brew for some extra zing today.

Upslope Brewing (Boulder) - We want the funk! According to Upslope, they are going to be collaborating with Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project on a funky collaboration - a Brett Belgian Pale Ale. This brew is currently aging in red wine barrels and will be ready in October (think GABF time). Keep this one on your To-Drink list!

Fate Brewing (Boulder) - Just tapped today - a Belgian Single with crystallized ginger. It's hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops. This is a small batch and certainly won't last long.

Oskar Blues (Longmont/Brevard) - The very first batch of Ten Fidy Imperial Stout has been released from their new Brevard, NC brewery and for the first time Oskar Blues Ten Fidy will be available nationwide in all 32 states they distribute to! Look for a Ten Fidy release party at the Tasty Weasel taproom on August 30th. This party will include a vertical tasting of Ten Fidy from years past, plus a barrel-aged FIDY, a firkin of FIDY Pale, and a Nitro Smidy. Ten Fidy is a seasonal and will be available until February 2014. Plus - it comes in a can (and on draft).

Boulder Beer Company (Boulder) - The brewery is hiring! They are looking for another brewer to add to their staff. If you have a boatload of brewing experience and would like to work in Boulder check out their job opening on their jobs page.

Kettle & Stone Brewing (Boulder) - Today at 5pm is the tapping of their new American Bold Ale. There will be a food truck on site at 5:30pm and live music at 6pm.

Northern Colorado

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Ever get the late night munchies? Ya, you know you do. So the Mayor now has their kitchen open late from 10pm to 12 midnight with a special late night menu - including their chili cheese fries. Stop in - 100 beers on tap.

Equinox Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Need a job? Equinox is once again hiring for two part-time serving positions. If you think you're up to the challenge - check out their web page and apply. Also, rumor has it that there is going to be a huge beer-filled dunk tank over at Equinox tomorrow starting at noon. Dunk some local brewing celebs in Dunkelweizen for charity!

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - New brew for you! Stop in for a Wicked Witch - a Dunkel Kottbusser. Think "Snow Drop" with a malty, caramel, coffee aroma and coffee and malt flavor throughout. Pair that with food from Chaulkboard Gourmet Express tonight.

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - The brewery has 10 of their beers on tap tonight including: Tripel, Saison, IPA, Imperial Stout, 7 Cs Rye Wheat, Mandarina Bavaria Single Hop Pale Ale, English Pale Ale, Belgian Dubbel, Belgo Pale Ale, and American Sour w/Raspberries. Viva la Variety!

Southern Front Range

Smiling Toad Brewery (Colorado Springs) - Looking for something different? Stop in for a taste of their special line-up of beers for this week: Summer Blonde, Toad IPA, Red Shanty Irish Ale, Scotch Ale and their Astronaut approved Bella Lavender Lager.
