Colorado Beer News 082013

Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Radio Day. While this modern form of communication may not be quite as popular as it used to be, radio still has a dominant presence in modern society. Even craft beer has a big presence on the radio. Colorado alone has at least three weekly radio shows dedicated to it. Turn on the radio today in your office, home or car and find something worth listening to. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, August 20th, 2013. Metro Denver

4 Noses Brewing Company (Broomfield) - Another brewery is headed for Broomfield at the end of this year or early next year. 4 Noses Brewing Company has chosen a location at 8855 W. 116th Circle in Broomfield, Colorado for their 20bbl brewhouse and pilot system. They will focus on 3-4 year-round brews as well as a seasonal selection served at the taproom and distributed to local restaurants and bars. In addition, 4 Noses will be rotating a series of pilot beers that will be available in the taproom regularly. This brewery will be 100% family owned and is a combined product of 3 passionate homebrewers: father Natan, and two brothers David and Tommy Bibliowicz. Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - Coming up tomorrow is the release of an old favorite - Cherry Wheat. It weighs in at 5.3% ABV and 22 IBU. Also, this Sunday, August 25th at 3pm til close is Game Night at the Yak & Yeti. Stop in for some board games. New and experienced players are welcome. Bring your favorite game or just show up and learn a new one.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - August Barrel Aged Cask Month continues at CKBC. This Wednesday, August 21st at 3:00pm they'll be tapping a "Barrel Aged Barleywine". This should prove to be a big powerful brew - so tread carefully.

Grainy Days - Home Brew Supply (Denver) - There's a new homebrew shop opening up in the Stapleton / Northfield area this Saturday, August 24th at 9:00pm - Grainy Days. A homebrewer Chris LaMere is the owner. The shop is located next to CAUTION: Brewery. Now you can grab a brew and get your homebrew supplies too. Prost Brewing (Denver) - As part of their 1st Year Anniversary this week, Prost is tapping a limited batch of Eisbock today. Stop in for a taste and help them celebrate a full orbit of the sun! Prost!

Mockery Brewing (Denver) - Get ready for another brewery Denver. Zach and Rachel Rabun (aka Mockery Brewing) are planning to open a brewery at 3501 Delgany Street in Denver, CO in the River North area. This brewery will open sometime in Spring 2014 and will become the 6th brewery in that neighborhood. Follow them on Facebook and bookmark their website at mockerybrewing.com.

Boulder County

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - With the approach of the harvest season comes time to bring out the fall seasonals. Left Hand has just released their annual Left Hand Oktoberfest Märzen Lager for the season. This year's brew weighs in at 6.6% ABV and is available in 12oz 6-packs and kegs. This brew has taken two month to lager to get ready. Look for it soon on a store shelf in your area.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - Local farmer Geoff is bringing hops from the farm for your picking pleasure to the Tasty Weasel this afternoon. Come enjoy a fresh hopped G'Knight! Gotta love fresh picked hops!

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Tomorrow for their Wednesday Firkin Humpday, High Hops will be tapping a cask of Agave Lime Wit. In addition, Bottlecap BBQ will be on site with the food. Also, be sure to tune in to the Bikes & Beers Radio Show on 88.9 FM from Ft. Collins as Pat Weakland, owner of High Hops will be on the show this Wednesday night from 6-7pm. Don't get that station? Listen via stream online at www.krfcfm.org. Also, this Saturday morning starting at 9am, the USA Pro Cycling Challenge will be passing right in front of the brewery. Stake out your spot. They'll be serving up beermosas and breakfast for you race fans. The racers are going past around 11:40am but the road will be closed off by 11am so get there early!

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Don't forget, tonight is Bike In Night. Ride your bike into the brewery and get $1 your pints. The special starts at 3pm today and lasts till close.

Southern Front Range

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - ‪#‎KarmaHour‬ starts tonight at 5pm! Bristol Brewing will donate $1 per pint sold tonight (between 5-9pm) to Silver Key Senior Services. This organization supports the quality of life for seniors - allowing them the choice of safely aging in place with dignity and independence. Stop in and visit their new Ivywild School brewery location!

Mountains and West

Kannah Creek Brewing (Grand Junction) - [PRESS RELEASE] Kannah Creek has contracted with Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC) to distribute their beer throughout the state of Colorado. The first shipment of beer was picked up on Friday, August 16 from their 905 Struthers facility, Edgewater Brewery. The first shipment included 6-packs, 12-packs, and kegs of Kannah Creek Brewing Company’s Lands End Amber and Standing Wave Pale Ale to be sold in liquor stores, restaurants, and bars around the state. The Lands End Amber is a German-style Altbier and is deep copper in color with a crisp clean finish. This beer balances the rich character of specialty malts with the mild aroma and bitterness of three hop additions. The Standing Wave Pale Ale is rich amber in color with a distinctive hoppy characteristic. It is brewed in a traditional English style with Crystal malts and select variety of American hops. It has a complex malty flavor, crisp hop balance, and inviting aroma. Kannah Creek Brewing Company started self-distributing to local establishments on June 25. Currently their beer is available in over 30 local liquor stores as well as three stores in Montrose. RNDC will expand into other Colorado markets quickly with plans to distribute to the mountains and metro Denver area first and then Fort Collins and Colorado Springs.

Telluride Brewing Co (Telluride) - Due to heavy equipment moving around huge tanks in and out of the brewery today (expansion), Telluride Brewing is closed for the day. Stop back tomorrow for their beer.
