Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Be An Angel Day. Do something kind for someone today. It's a day designed to go out of your way to help someone else and simply try to be a better person at least one day. Who knows, the act of kindness you give to someone may also be given to you someday. Why not lift someone's spirits (pun intended) and take them out for a pint today. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, August 22nd, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Special Festival Edition - This is one of the busiest beer festival weekends of the entire Summer!

Metro Denver

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - Harvest season is upon us and Dry Dock is releasing their Imperial Pumpkin ale today. It's a big, spicy 9% ABV brew and is perfect for the shorter days and cooler nights ahead. Available in bomber bottles or on draft.

World of Beer (Cherry Creek & Belmar) - Stone Brewing will be putting on their STONEhenge event at World of Beer tonight and will be tapping the WOB-exclusive Stone Ruination Grapefruit Slam just before 5pm today. There will be limited STONEhenge limited glassware sand t-shirts available for purchase. Stone's head honcho Greg Koch will also have a special salute for the crowd. This is part of their nationwide Stone tap takeover.

Diebolt Brewing (Denver) - Today they finished kegging their newest Standard Series brew - Sunnyside Wheat, an effervescent American Wheat. Stop in for a taste as they will be open tonight between 4pm and 8pm.

Saint Patrick's Brewing Company (Englewood) - Today they are releasing a limited batch of a special brew: Czech Chai Ginger lager. Available in tasters our full pours. Stop in for a swig - it'll make you dance a jig.

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - Tonight the brewers will be serving up three brews including: Meh! Cream Ale, Aldo Red, and Hop Session IPA. If you ask, they will even put the Aldo Red through a Randall full of Apollo hops. These brews are also full of flavor and are considered gluten free.

Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - Due to trademark issues, Odyssey is being forced to change the name of some of their beers. While the beers themselves will stay the same taste-wise, over the next couple months, Helios Hefeweizen will change to "Heliocentric", Ghost Rider will change to "Ghost Drifter", Nebula will be "Perpetual Darkness", and Caber Tosser will change to "Warrior Clan".

Wynkoop Brewing (Denver) - It's back and it's in cans. Wynkoop is pleased to announce that their "Patty's Chile Beer" is now heading out to all of their Colorado accounts. This is a sessionable 4.2% ABV beer made with green chile flavor and aroma, yet with no heat. Look for it in 4-packs of cans as part of their "Even Smaller Batch Series".

Fermentation Festival & Market (Denver) - This Saturday & Sunday, August 24-25 from 3:30-7:30pm each day at the Highlands Masonic Center (3550 Federal Blvd) is a celebration of all things fermented. Guests will have the opportunity to sample fermented foods and beverages from across the country. Participants include Kombucha Breweries, Local Distillers, Craft Brewers, Wineries, Restaurants and Sauerkraut Makers. The festival strives to increase awareness about fermented foods and beverages. Educational Seminars will be offered on a variety of topics. More info at:

Rendezvous at the Rock (Castle Rock) - On Saturday, August 24th from 11am to 3pm at Rockyard Brewing is a gathering of craft beer lovers to promote and share our passion for local craft beers. This event is being hosted by Rockyard Brewing and features beers from 25+ different craft breweries. This is a 21+ only event. Your ticket includes a food ticket & commemorative glass and unlimited samples. There will be plenty of food and live music. Get tickets at

Coors Field (Denver) - The Colorado Rockies are throwing a brew fest and food truck roundup on Saturday, August 31st just before the ballgame at the ballpark. Enjoy tastings from the Blue Moon Brewing Co. and 6 other local breweries (including Black Bottle Brewery) along with food from some of the best area food trucks. Admission to the event is FREE. Drink tickets will be $7.50 for 3 tickets. One ticket will be good for one 4oz beer OR three tickets can be used for one 12oz beer that will be served in a special BREW FEST souvenir cup. The event starts at 4pm and runs until 6:10pm.

Boulder County

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - It's hop harvest time and Left Hand is prepping to go pick some fresh hops and keg up some Warrior IPA soon. It's a big IPA that is tapped the same day as it is kegged. Look for this beer to return for a new year sometime in September.

Upslope Brewing (Boulder) - This Saturday at the brewery at 2pm will be a special Pro-Am Craft Beer fundraiser benefitting Water for People. Your $35 at the door gets you beer, bluegrass, food from local food truck, and a DJ dance party. Plus there will be some great raffle prizes as well. Get tickets at the brewery or at

NedFest (Nederland) - This weekend, Friday-Sunday August 23-25 is the 15th Annual NedFest. NedFest is an annual three-day outdoor music, arts and microbrew festival with camping located in the mountains of Nederland Colorado, just 17 miles west of Boulder. It is an extremely cool, family-oriented event that happens in late August. The music featured is in the Bluegrass, Jazz, Jamband, Jamgrass and World genres, or moreover, a sound that blends these styles and others together. Five bands perform on Saturday and Sunday on one stage with acoustic 'tweener sets between each band. Tickets and info at:

Very Nice Brewing (Nederland) - Speaking of Nederland, tonight the brewery is hosting Open Mic Night at 7:30pm. Bring your talent and sign-up starting at 7:00pm. All musicians, poets and performers are welcome.

Frack Free Brew Festival (Boulder) - This Sunday, August 25th from 11am to 7pm is the Frack Free Brew Festival taking place at the Boulder Bandshell Amphitheater at Broadway and Canyon. Featured Musicians include Laura Goldhammer, NDAAZ, We the Sheep, Kunundrum, Dan Treanor and Afrossippi, KMC and the Awesome Drummer, Caitlin and Sydney Powell and lots of fine Craft beer from Colorado. Rocky Mountain Cigar Festival (Boulder) - Do you love smokin' a stogie while sipping adult beverages? Then head to the Millennium Harvest House in Boulder this Saturday, August 24th from 1pm to 7pm. General admission gets you a selection of 20 cigars, a taster glass and drink tickets, a t-shirt and more. Lafayette Craft Brew & BBQ Festival (Lafayette) - This Saturday, August 24th from 2pm to 6pm at the Atlas Valley Shopping Center (95th & Arapahoe) is the 2nd annual Craft Brew & BBQ Festival. The event features beer tasting, BBQ sampling, lawn games, 4 live bands, face painting, vendor booths, a magician and more. More info at:

Northern Colorado

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - Want to catch part of the USA Pro Challenge? Loveland Aleworks will be showing all stages of the race in their taproom. Plus, they will be hosting live music this Friday & Saturday nights. The Corn Roast Festival and Stage 6 of the bike race will be in town this weekend and you'll need to cool down somewhere - stop in for a cool pint.

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - The brewers at PCBC are feeling a bit peachy this week and are releasing a couple of different peach-infused brews. On the Outlaw Tap come try "Another Castle" a beer Princess Peach (think Super Mario) would love. Then this weekend for the Peach Fest at Hughes Stadium they will be tapping Bowser's Revenge - a bourbon peach ale. Get your peach on this week!

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Today is Happy Hour all day long - aka Thirsty Thursday. Plus, live music from Randall Dubis from 6-9pm.

Southern Front Range

Foam Fest (Pueblo) - This Saturday, August 24th from 6pm to 9pm at the Colorado State Fair is the 10th Annual Foam Fest. Come taste some of the best beers in Colorado. Join 15+ Colorado breweries inside at the Colorado State Fair! Be sure to purchase and load your Smart Card to enter the event. Need a card? Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - In case you were wondering, about 100 cases of their Swingline sour beer just got put on a truck and is heading for Denver area stores today. Be on the look-out for it as they will tend to fly off the shelves.

Ute Pass Brewing Co (Woodland Park) - At long last, the pub has finally gotten their permit to redesign their business to include a brewery. This pub/restaurant opened in April 2013 with the intention of soon after opening a brewery. Now that the permit is in they will begin the process of building their brewhouse.

Mountains and West

Telluride Brewing (Telluride) - Expansion isn't always easy. The brewery installed several new brewing tanks this week and had to remove a big part of their front wall just to get one of their largest new tanks inside. The addition of this new capacity will allow them to start bottling some of their beers that were previously only on tap. Starting in September, they plan to put their Tempter IPA into bottles in September in time for the Telluride Blues & Brews fest.

San Juan Brewfest (Durango) - This Saturday, August 24th from 1-5pm in Buckley Park is the annual San Juan Brew Fest. The Four Corners' only real beer tasting festival! The 15th annual San Juan Brewfest is shaping up to be the biggest ever. 40+ breweries are attending, so there will be ~100 beers to try. All guests receive a souvenir 5 oz. tasting glass to sample the beers. VIP’s get an early entry to the Brewfest at noon instead of 1 pm, access to the VIP Tent with FREE food while it lasts, and an invite to a private party with the attending brewers the night before the Brewfest Friday August 23. Entertainment provided by West Water Outlaws from Boulder and Waiting on Trial from Durango. The San Juan Brewfest benefits United Way of Southwest Colorado. Visit for more info.

Grillin' & Chillin' Brew & Music Festival (Ouray) - Head southwest to Ouray this Saturday, August 24t from 1pm to 6pm for the 6th annual food, beer and music fest at Fellin Park in Ouray, CO. There will be a variety of breweries and distilleries pouring adult beverages and plenty of food and live music to boot! More info at:

Curly Wolf: Beer, Wine & Spirits Festival (Frisco) - Head to the Frisco Adventure Park (821 Recreation Way) in Frisco this Saturday, August 24th from 12pm to 10pm for Curly Wolf - part of the Outlaws of Dirt Bike Festival. Plenty of music, fun and adult beverages.
