Colorado Beer News 082813

Colorado Beer NewsToday is I Have a Dream Day. 50 years ago on this day, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr made his famous "I Have a Dream" speech in Washington, DC. While some progress has been made in racial equality since that day, there's still a lot of work to be done to bring that dream to reality. Toast to his memory and dream today. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, August 28th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on FermentedlyChallenged.com, you don't know what you're missing.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Don't forget today's firkin - The Apple Bottom - it's an apple berry wheat and there's just one firkin then it's gone.

Branch Out Cider (Fort Collins) - Move over beer, make way for cider! Recently, a new cider maker has begun distributing their apple wine product around the Fort Collins area. Branch Out Cider is a business led by Aaron Fodge and Matt Fater. They are currently selling their 8.4% ABV apple wine called Perennial at select stores and bars around town. You can find them at Wilbur's Total Beverage and places like The Mayor of Old Town. This makes the 2nd cidery behind Scrumpy's that opened earlier. Apples are taken from trees found in backyards in Northern Colorado and mixed with honey and then fermented into a powerful beverage. Check them out on Facebook or on their Website.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Don't forget, today Grimm Bros is tapping their "Dragon Slayer" - a smoked German beer based off of an Oktoberfest recipe. It's back for a limited run. And yes, growlers of this brew are available too!

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - The rumors are true. PCBC's City Park Lager is now back on tap today. It's their classic American Pilsner and is great for these lingering hot days of late summertime.

Blown Spoke Hard Cider Co (Loveland) - Blown Spoke has just recently opened in Loveland and is a spin-off business for Big Beaver Brewing Company, yet they're already planning to expand the cidery into a much larger building. Owner Peter Villeneuve just signed a lease on a property at 245 S. Madison Avenue in Loveland, the former Loveland Food share building. They plan to take about six month to get that brewing facility ready for business. They will retain their West Eisenhower tasting room however. Hard cider is taking off in NoCo!

Southern Front Range

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Now in bomber bottles! Their English-style Old Ale is now available in bottles at their Pub in the Springs. Drink some and you'll believe in unicorns too. Also, look for their Red Baron Oktoberfest to be released soon, and in the winter they will be barrel-aging some of their Winter Warlock for a future release date.

Mountains and West

Eddyline Brewing (Buena Vista) - Look for two new beer tappings this week. Today, it's their "Inner Glow" Red Chile Porter, and on Sunday, September 1st it's their Pumpkin Patch Pale Ale. Cheers to fall seasonals!
