Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Day of Service and Remembrance and also Patriot Day. September 11th, 2001 is a day that Americans will never forget. Spend a moment today to remember the memory of those who were lost and for those who responded to the tragedy. The events of that day was an awful reminder that the price of staying free in this nation often comes at a high cost. Toast to the hope of a better future ahead and never forget those who lost their lives in 2001. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, September 11th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - Each week on Wednesday, Odyssey puts out a new Discovery Beer. Today's brew takes their Pale Ale and infuses it with papaya and mango. It taps at 5pm today.

Beer By Design (Northglenn) - The brewery has just come out with their Mild Chili Ale. It's a seasonal beer made with Hatch Chilies blended in with their Lucille Red Ale. It's got just a touch of heat. Available for a limited time in their taproom. It's just one of three Designer Infusion series beers now on tap. Also try their Strawberry Red Ale and Cherry Bell Ale.

Lowry Beer Garden (Denver) - It's Oktoberfest time! And for the next three weekends, Lowry Beer Garden is tapping some of the best Colorado brews made for this time of year. This weekend they will be featuring beers from Prost Brewing. Next weekend will feature Odell Brewing and the 3rd weekend will feature Left Hand Brewing.

Hops & Pie 3rd AnniversaryHops & Pie (Denver) - It's time to Par-Tay! Coming up on Saturday, September 28th all day starting at 12 noon, it's Hops & Pie's 3rd Anniversary Party and you're all invited. They've partnered up with Avery Brewing to bring an excellent selection of beers to pour just for the occasion. Avery will be bringing: The Reverend (2010), Uncle Jacob's Stout, Lilikoi Kepolo, Bad Apple, Wee Turtles, Trogdor the Burninator, Tweak, duganA, White Rascal, Cascade Hop-backed Avery IPA, The Beast, Chai Brown, Samael's, Odio Equum, Black Pearl, Thensaurum, and some other special taps you won't want to miss. Also, the Colorado Craft Beer Show will be on site doing a live broadcast from 12-2pm (AM 760). Hops & Pie will be offering up some fantastic raffles & prizes. Can't Stop Brewing (Denver) - Here's another new brewery who's throwing their hat into the list of breweries coming to Denver. Can't Stop Brewing is targeting 240 S. Pecos Street in the Spring of 2014 to open their brewery. According to their Facebook page: "Just 4 guys with a passion for craft beer. Our affinity for traditional styles with a twist, has led us to create savory recipes that we're sure you're going to love as much as we do. As we continue to refine our wares and progress, we inch closer and closer to being able to share our passion with you, the craft beer lover. One day, we shall spread across the land, like an endearing cat-video; we shall MALT THE EARTH!"

Black Shirt Brewing (Denver) - BSB just released their beer "setlist" for the week: 2013 BSB Bitter (Track #1), 2013 BSB Red Ale (Track #4), 2013 Red Saison (Track #2), 2013 Pale Red Rye, (Track #1), 2013 Red IPA (Track #2), 2013 Sour Mash Red Saison (Track #3), 2013 Red Porter (Track #2), and 2013 Red Evelyn (Track #1). Also, they are tapping 2 kegs of Leopold Bros. barrel-aged beer (Porter and Bitter].

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Today's firkin Wednesday tapping is Copper Hopper, with fresh Cascade hops. Taps at 3pm.

2013 GABFGreat American Beer Festival (Denver) - It's now less than a month away (29 days!) Are you getting yourself in drinking shape to survive this festival? Start getting your festival gear ready and make a weeklong plan to where you want to be during GABF week. GABF starts Thursday, October 10th at the Colorado Convention Center. And for those who didn't get a ticket, there will be plenty of events around Denver and at local breweries to keep you occupied.

Boulder County

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - According to recent label approvals, Left Hand Brewing is preparing to release the next version in their Fade to Black series. Look for Fade to Black Volume 5 - Black Rye Ale coming near the end of October.

Großen Bart Brewery (Longmont) - If you'd like to get an early taste of this upcoming brewery's beer, then come to Oktoberfest in Longmont on October 20th and 21st in Roosevelt Park in Longmont, CO. Großen Bart Brewery will be pouring their Chevron Irish Stout and Chin Curtain IPA. They'll have bumper stickers, t-shirts and pint glasses available too. Boulder Beer Company (Boulder) - Here's 3 ways to get into the fall seasonal beer swing. Check out Boulder Beer's 3 new seasonals: fRYEd Fresh-Hopped Rye Pale Ale, Dragonhosen Imperial Oktoberfest, and Shake Chocolate Porter. They'll all 3 be on taps this fall at locations near you.

Fate Brewing (Boulder) - Today's Wednesday cask is "House of the Rising Saison", their Brown Saison hopped up with Sorachi Ace Hops from Japan. The cask will be tapped at 3pm. Get $3.50 pints of this til it kicks.

Northern Colorado

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - It's official. This Friday, September 13th their Farmer's Daughter (Oktoberfestbier) will be making a return to the taps (and bottles). Also, in honor of Patriot's Day today, anyone who works as a first responder can get $1 pints of their mainline beers from 3pm to 6pm today - just ask your server.

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Don't forget Happy Hour tonight from 3 to 6pm. Get $1 off beers. Plus, you can now try their new Pro-Am beer - "The Poser" Imperial IPA (8.2% ABV 81 IBU). What's coming next? They've got a double batch of "I'm Alright Jack", Imperial Dark Cream Ale in the fermenter. That'll have double digit ABV's and some of that will be headed to barrels for aging (yum). Then, tomorrow they are brewing up a Pumpkin Porter. Worth waiting for - stay tuned for release details.

Odell Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Colorado Rapids fans will be happy to know that Odell Brewing has struck a deal with the Colorado Rapids to bring Odell Brewing Company beers to Dick's Sporting Goods Park. Odell will be the official craft beer supplier and Budweiser will be the official "domestic" beer supplier for all Rapids games.

Choice City Butcher & Deli (Ft. Collins) - One of Ft. Collins' most popular beer destinations is holding a Stein Hoist Competition tonight. They've also got New Belgium Sausage Weizen Brats for $3.00, $1 sliders and $1 off beers from 5pm to 9pm. Stop in and start celebrating the Oktoberfest season now. Why wait til the weekend?

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - Funkwerks now has a limited number of bottles of Saison d'Brett that they released from their cellar today. Get your bottles today before they are gone forever.

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - Join their Fill $5 Club and see how you can get $5 growler fills. Wiley Roots Brewing (Greeley) - On Saturday, September 21st, join in for a Wiley Roots Oktoberfest from 12pm to 11pm. They'll be debuting their Oktotberfest Marzen. There will be authentic German food from Contemporary Cook on hand and polka music from the Bear Brass Quintet. Then stop back next weekend in Greeley for Oktobrewfest on September 27th and 28th in Lincoln Park in Greeley. Wiley Roots will be pouring their Super 77 Wheat and Oktoberfest Marzen. Southern Front Range

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - This Friday, September 13th at 5pm, Trinity Brewing will release their "Le Capitaine Petite Bouddha", a blonde saison regal. Stop in for a taste.

Mountains and West

Grand Lake Brewing (Grand Lake) - Fall is in the air and FallFest (beer) is in the taps this weekend. Come enjoy this fall seasonal beer in their taproom. Also, look for "3 Degrees of Awesome" in bombers next week.

Vail Oktoberfest (Vail) - [PRESS RELEASE] Munich comes to the Vail Village this weekend for the second and final weekend of the world’s greatest celebration of beer, music and autumn in Vail: Oktoberfest!
