Colorado Beer NewsToday is Friday the 13th and in Colorado, it's certainly an unlucky time for the state due to the massive flooding all over the state. Several breweries are being affected by the flooding so call ahead or check social media before venturing out today. In many areas, travel is being discouraged - so be safe Colorado! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, September 13th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Parry's Pizza (Castle Rock) - This Saturday, September 14th, the Castle Rock Parry's location will be hosting a New Belgium Brewing Lips of Faith Tap Takeover starting at 11:00am.

MillerCoors (Golden) - Due to flooding, the Coors water treatment plant has overflowed and operations have been shutdown temporarily according to Nathan Genrich.

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - Big Choice Brewing will be the focus of a a tap takeover at Colorado Plus Brewpub coming up on Friday, October 4th from 6pm to 9pm. There will be 5 Big Choice beers on tap including: Type III IPA, Disconnected Red, #42 Poblano Stout, Thrashard Biere de Garde, and Punk-toberfest. Those in attendance who order a Big Choice beer will have a chance to win 2 tickets to the Saturday Members-Only at the Great American Beer Festival.

Brew at the Zoo (Denver) - It may be wet, but so far the 16th annual Brew at the Zoo is still taking place tonight from 7pm to 10pm. Dress appropriately for the weather. Beer from 40 breweries and food from 20 local restaurants - plus views of the animals! This is an adults-only event - leave the kids with a sitter.

Prost Brewing (Denver) - Their GABF KristalweiƟ has been tapped. it's a filtered version of their regular weiƟbier and looks crystal clear (yellow). This is a limited release as there are only 2 kegs available. Get some while you can.

Hogshead Brewery (Denver) - On cask today: Hog's Stout Extra, AK du Hop with E.K. Goldings, Lake Lightning dry hopped w/ Nelson, and Barge's Mild. Stay dry but keep your whistle wet.

Stout & Oyster Fest (Denver) - Tomorrow, Saturday, September 14th at Denver Beer Company come on over for their Stout & Oyster Fest happening from 12pm to 4pm. For $25 you'll get 2 beers & 1 dozen oysters. There will be East Coast oysters, West Coast oysters and even Rocky Mountain oysters on 3 different stations. Plus from 11am - 12pm you can attend a special VIP Oyster Class in the Barrel Room for a unique Oyster & Stout Pairing - get 6 oysters paired with 3 tasters and learn about oyster types and how to shuck an oyster. Tickets are available in the taproom and at the door or call 303.433.2739.

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - There's a new beer on tap this weekend. Stop in for a taste of their "Attack of the Cones" - a fresh hop beer made with wet CTZ hops from Paonia, CO. This brew is 6.0% ABV and 45 IBU.

Diebolt Brewing (Denver) - Diebolt will be kegging and tapping their Saison Voila on Saturday, September 14th at 2pm. Pints will be $1 off all day. Also try "The Golden One" golden ale and French Lavender while they last.

Boulder County

Oskar Blues (Longmont/Lyons) - Roads in and out of Lyons are closed. Do not attempt to drive to Lyons today due to heavy flooding and relief efforts. Back in Longmont, Oskar Blues Tasty Weasel & Homemade Liquids & Solids will be closed to customers today. They will be using the kitchen at HMLS to make meals for evacuation shelters in the area.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - The St. Vrain river directly behind the brewery is at flood stage. The brewery is closed due to flooding conditions. Stay tuned for updates on conditions at the brewery. As of 9am this morning, the Tasting Room has stayed dry, but their cooler may have been breached with water. Around 11am reports of possibly 2 feet of water lapping up against the side of some parts of the brewery. Grain bags are being used as sandbags. Keep them in your prayers.

Shine Restaurant & Brewery (Boulder) - From their Facebook page: "There is a little water damage and some leaking happening but we are starting the clean-up now. We will be open tonight starting at 4pm. We want to be available for our community. We need one another at this time. Shine is here for you. We will make it through this together. Please let us know if you need anything and know there will be nourishing food, drink, dancing and community awaiting you later today."

Kettle & Stone Brewing (Boulder) - Not only do they have their Vindication Imperial IPA flowing tonight, but they are tapping their new Eingelhorn's Stormrider Amber. Stop in and stay dry inside.

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) - Their ale house will be OPEN today. They've got warm bowls of Billy's Chilies infused chili and a supply of Mr. Brown's Pumpkin Ale.

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - Despite other closures in the area, Wild Woods Brewery will be open today at 4pm. Be safe on the roads. 1st Avenue was a river in front of their building earlier today.

Upslope Brewing (Boulder) - Both locations (Flatiron Park and Lee Hill) are back open today, however 1 of the 2 entrances at the Flatiron Park location is closed, so be careful. They will be open from 2pm to 8pm today.

300 Suns Brewing (Longmont) - This brewery under development is getting a flood scare as their building is nearly surrounded by water and water was up to the foundation of their building. Luckily, the water seems to be receding and the interior of their building stayed dry.

West Flanders Brewing (Boulder) - Yes, they are open today. There's even free garage parking at Pearl Street today.

Very Nice Brewing (Nederland) - Power has been restored to Nederland and the brewery will be open today until 9:00pm.

Northern Colorado

Please note: Interstate 25 was closed between Erie and the Wyoming border today due to rivers flooding over the highway. Travel in Northern Colorado will be difficult today.

Odell Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Due to local flooding, Odell Brewing will be closed today. Their neighborhood was evacuated earlier today.

Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Both the brewery tasting room and Gravity 1020 will be closed today due to road and weather conditions. Follow Facebook for re-opening information this weekend.

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - The streets are clear around the brewery and they WILL be open today in Old Town FoCo. Get $3 pints all day if yo make it in. They've got wifi for those who need it.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - While I-25 may be temporarily closed, those in the Windsor area can stop in at the brewery today as they are open.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - For the time being, the brewery will be open today but they are playing it by ear for now. They've got Farmer's Daughter (Oktoberfestbier) on tap right now too!

Buckhorn Brewers (Loveland) - Due to flooding in their area, the brewery will NOT be open today. Also, tomorrow's drum circle event will be cancelled as well.

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - The brewery will be open today, but if you live south of the Big Thompson river you might have difficulty getting there due to closures. Be safe if you venture out today.

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - Due to local road closures, the brewery will be closed today. Hopefully they will be open on Saturday.

Estes Park Brewery (Estes Park) - Even if you could get to Estes Park today (which you can't) - everyone is being asked to stay off the roads. The brewery is closed due to flooding.

Black Bottle Brewery (Ft. Collins) - The brewery & restaurant is open today. They also have Liquid Metal Imperial Rye Stout back on tap.

Southern Front Range

Pikes Peak Brewing (Monument) - Starting this Sunday and lasting all through next week is "Monument Beer Week" at Pikes Peak Brewing Co. There will be unique events each day leading up to their Oktoberfest celebration on September 21st. Sunday kicks it off with their "Halfway to St. Pat's" event - Irish beers, Irish music and Irish food.

Mountains and West

Tommyknocker Brewery (Idaho Springs) - The brewery is open today and will be hosting a fish fry and other tempting food items plus their beer of course!

Backcountry Brewery (Frisco) - Today at 3pm they will tap their Breakfast Stout and India Black Ale. Happy Hour starts at 3pm too.

Telluride Blues & Brews Festival (Telluride) - It's going to be a wet weekend, but the 20th annual festival starts today and runs through Sunday, September 13-15. Dozens of bands, lots of great craft beer and lots of fun in this western slope mountain town. More info at:

Durango Oktoberfest (Durango) - Oktoberfest is happening this weekend September 14 & 15 in Buckley Park in Durango. Come try beers from all 5 local breweries. Lots of great food, live music and kids' activities as well. Folks are encouraged to ride their bikes, walk or take the bus to this event.
