Colorado Beer News 091613

Colorado Beer NewsToday is the last Monday of Summer and also Wife Appreciation Day. And what a wild summer it's been. First the forest fires amid extreme heat and drought, then the monsoon hits and record all-time flooding. What will Fall and Winter bring? Hopefully some relief. Speaking of relief - here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, September 16th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on FermentedlyChallenged.com, you don't know what you're missing.

Widespread flooding is still affecting businesses in 14 Colorado counties this week and may continue for weeks. Before you venture out to a brewery taproom please be sure that the roads will be open and that the taproom is open for business. Be safe Colorado.

Metro Denver

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - Need a way to liven up your Monday night? Stop by after work for a pint, free popcorn and a Movie Night at 7pm. Tonight they're playing "The Jerk" starring Steve Martin. Take your mind off of the recent flooding at least for a few hours.

Beer By Design Brewery (Northglenn) - The game plan for Monday Night Football is simple, get $1 off pints Mondays during the game. Also, try out their latest Designer Infusion beer: Triple Mountain Berry Ale. It's got raspberries, blueberries and blackberries integrated into their Alpine Mountain Amber Ale. Falling Rock Tap House (Denver) - The beers of Saint Arnold Brewing Company of Houston, Texas are now being distributed to Colorado! They'll have 3 core brands: Lawnmower Beer, Elissa IPA and Santo plus some special offerings (a Double IPA, an Old Ale, a Belgian Quad and a bourbon barrel Weizenbock). Please help spread the word about this effort. Preliminary event details can be viewed on BeerAdvocate.

Some of their staff members have been affected by the floods however. Please keep everyone who was affected by these floods in your thoughts and help out in any relief efforts that you can.

Kettle & Stone Brewing (Boulder) - There's a broken bridge on 71st that was flooded out that may hamper you getting to the brewery. However, you can still reach The Kettle & Stone by car if you take 119 N to Rt. 52 and approach 71st from the other side.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - The flooding of the St. Vrain river has temporarily halted production at Left Hand Brewing. Despite having some flood damage, they have been given permission to open up their tap room today at 3:00pm. Parts of the loading dock, hop garden, and basement areas had damage, but not enough to close them down. Power had been knocked out, but has since been restored. Left Hand's Oktoberfest is still ON for this weekend and is now doubling as a fundraiser for flood relief.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - Their Lyons location is still closed, but relief efforts are going on at their Longmont Tasty Weasel tap room. Today 10% of all draft sales will go to the Oskar Blues Flood Relief Fun which will go to assist the friends, families and communities of Oskar Blues who were victims of the floods in Lyons and Longmont. If you'd like to donate online to this cause please visit their Relief Fund page.
