Colorado Beer NewsToday is Talk Like A Pirate Day. Aaarrrrr mateys! Shiver me timbers, yo ho ho and bottles of rum barrel aged beer. If'n you be talkin' like a pirate today, best ye be dressing de part as well. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, September 19th, 2013. Metro Denver

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - Coming up on Saturday, September 28th is their annual "Docktoberfest". The fun starts at 11:00am and lasts all day. There will be live music with Rick Borger and The Average German Band from 1pm to 4pm, plus food - and of course plenty of Dry Dock Docktoberfest German style Oktoberfest - aka Marzen that will be tapped by Aurora's mayor, Steve Hogan, at 11:15am. Dress up in your Lederhosen and Dirndls if you have em!

Great American Beer Festival (Denver) - T-minus 3 weeks until the 2013 GABF!!!

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - Congrats to Brewery Rickoli for winning the 2nd annual Sam Adams Brewing the American Dream and Business Experienceship. The Brewing & Business Experienceship was created to provide one craft brewer annually who is a loan recipient within Sam Adams' program with educational or enrichment experiences that positively impact their craft or the success of their brewery. The Experienceship will be tailored based on Brewery Rickoli's business needs.

St. Patrick's Brewing Co (Englewood) - The brewmaster is brewing up a batch of El Draque Lager today. It will become an 8% ABV, dry hopped, French oak aged brew with 9 different spices, citrus, honey, brown sugar, 8 different hops, and 10 grains. Now for the wait while it ferments and ages. But today, you can stop in and try two different pumpkin lagers.

Arvada Beer Co (Arvada) - Today's Brewers Limited Reserve tapping is "Watermelon Ale". On tap now. There's just 15 gallons of this one and will only last one night.

Star Bar (Denver) - Star Bar Denver is hosting a flood relief event tonight starting at 5:00 pm. They'll feature some awesome specials and a silent auction. All proceeds from Colorado brewing and distilling products will be donated to local flood relief efforts, so stop by and show your support if you're in Denver.

Euclid Hall (Denver) - New Belgium Brewing is teaming up with their good friends at Euclid Hall in Denver for a super exclusive Sour Symposium on Thursday, October 10th at Euclid Hall. The main topic is "The Art & Science of Blending". Kick off the Great American Beer Festival right at this event. Visit to get tickets and do it soon! There are only 50 spots per session and two sessions: 10am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-4pm. This is a great way to start off your GABF week. Cost is $65 per person. More info at:

Boulder County

The Very Nice Brewing Company (Nederland) - The folks at the brewery are going to be picking hops locally in Nederland on Sunday, September 22nd. They are in need of up to 10 volunteers to help pick them. They will buy you a beer for your efforts. 1st ten people to show up get the job. Meet at the brewery at 10:00am on Sunday.

Boulder Beer Co (Boulder) - It's tapped! Dragonhosen Imperial Oktoberfest is now available in the tap room. They've also got some killer brats & sourkraut on special all day long. Plus tonight they'll be playing live music with THe Average German Band. Celebrate Oktoberfest season!

J Wells Brewery (Boulder) - Looking for a big beer? J Wells now has Bear Mountain Barleywine on tap today. It's billed as "rich, smooth and a 11.5% ABV malty brew". Come prepared!

Upslope Brewing Co (Boulder) - Their Pumpkin Ale Release Party at their Flatiron Park location is this evening, but it's on tap all day. Live music by the Lefthand Market Boys and food from Burger Radio starts at 6pm. The Lee Hill location will also have Pumpkin Ale on tap, live tunes from The Felonious Smith Duo and food from Bumper Crop. If you're headed to Flatiron Park, please note that Central Ave. at 55th is closed - use Flatiron Pkwy at 55th to access Central to get there.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - Don't forget the Rumpkin beer release happening this Sunday at 5:00pm at the brewery. This is a big rum barrel aged brew with pumpkin and spices. They will also be hosting The Great Rumpkin Raffle that will benefit Foothills Flood Relief Fund. Tickets are $10 and will get you a complimentary pint. Raffle tickets will be available from 2:45pm to 5:45pm. The drawing for a case of Rumpkin, 2 pairs of tickets to Boulder IPA Fest and eight 6-packs of Rumpkin and Avery gear will start at 6:00pm.

Bootstrap Brewing (Niwot) - For "Talk Like A Pirate Day" - if you talk like a pirate when you order your beer you'll get 50 cents off pints. However, if you DRESS like a pirate your first pint is FREE today!

Northern Colorado

Patrick's Irish Pub (Greeley) - Patrick's Thursday half price special is: French Aramis IPA by New Belgium Brewing's Hop Kitchen series or/and Bristol Brewing's Laughing Lab Scottish ale - both offered tonight only at $2.50 for a European Pint (20oz)! Don't forget, the Traditional Irish Music Session happens every Thursday around 6:30pm. (Patrick's Irish Pub is an official sponsor of Fermentedly Challenged)

Pateros Creek Brewing (Fort Collins) - What's on the Outlaw Tap today? This week they're tapping "Blueberry Hill", a blueberry Kolsch. It's berry berry good!

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Tonight is Open Mic Night from 5:30pm - 7:30pm. Show off your talent. Good tunes and good beer.

Mountains and West

Eddyline Brewing Co (Buena Vista) - Today they had fun filling up their new cans with Eddyline Pumpkin Patch Ale. The cans are available in their taproom and in local liquor stores in their area this week. Next week look for it in front range stores.
