Colorado Beer NewsToday is the start of Clean Up The World Weekend. It's a time each year to make efforts to help clean up the environment around you. And in lieu of the recent flooding here in Colorado, there's a LOT of areas who need help cleaning up. Consider volunteering in your community to help clean up an area that needs help. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, September 20th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Ernie's Bar & Pizza (Denver) - Ernie's Bar and Pizza has teamed up again with the Colorado Brewers Guild to present the Second Annual Fresh Hop Showcase. Starting September 27th, Ernie's will showcase eight Colorado fresh hop beers on draft for two full weeks. These are one of a kind beers that are brewed once a year during hop harvest. In many cases, the hops used in these beers are picked from the vine hours and sometimes minutes before the brew to create that flavor and aroma that only fresh hops can provide. On Saturday, September 28 from 2-4 pm stop by for the Meet The Brewers event and talk to them about these special beers. Ernie's will donate 50 cents of every pint sold during the Fresh Hop Showcase to the Colorado Brewers Guild. Location: 2915 W. 44th Ave. Denver, CO.

Arvada Beer Co (Arvada) - This Friday, September 20th is the release of Arvada Beer Company's Oktoberfest Bier. Starting this Friday at 5pm, there is a special promotion where you can purchase two pints of this great beer along with a logo glass throughout the whole weekend (while supplies last). The cost of this special deal is $10.00. Each time you order an Oktoberfest beer then you will receive a raffle ticket for a pair of GABF tickets courtesy of the Colorado Craft Beer Show and AM 760. During the half time on Monday's night Bronco game, they will be announcing the winner of this great prize. Arvada Beer is also extending Happy Hour for the whole entire Bronco game paired with pizza from your favorite local pizza places.

Barrels & Bottles Brewery (Golden) - Today marks the Grand Opening of Golden's newest nano-brewery. Barrels & Bottles will open at 5pm today and offer not only beer, but also wine, tapas, olive oils, vinegars and more. Check out their press release to find out more about this newest brewery. River North Brewery (Denver) - With the GABF nearly upon us, River North has announced their events during GABF week. On Wednesday, Oct. 9th from 1-9pm it's a Wayward Wednesday tapping of their "Double Barrel Quad". Also same day, they will be participating in the Colorado Rare Beer Tasting at Rackhouse Pub from 6-9pm. Then on Thursday, Oct. 10th from 7-9pm there will be a River North @ Stapleton Tap House Beer and Cheese pairing. On Friday, Oct. 11th from 1-4pm they will be pouring at the Denver Rare Beer Tasting at the McNichols Building in Civic Center Park. And finally on Saturday, Oct. 12th from 1-10pm is their finale - The Empty the Cellar Party at the taproom. Anything barrel-aged or limited they've been saving, plus some new stuff will all be tapped including: Anniversary Ale #1, Barrel Reserve 2013, Whiskey-aged Hello, Darkness, Rum Barrel Quandary, B-Side Quandary. Yak & Yeti Brewpub (Arvada) - Remember those parody videos that Breckenridge Brewery put out? Well, Yak & Yeti's Adam Draeger has put one out as well, only this time they are parodying Breckenridge Brewery. Check out this video for Yak & Yeti's Exceptionally-Built ESB - the beer will be released today at the brewpub at 4pm. This traditional English-style ale was aged in Leopold Bros Whiskey barrels. Hops & Pie 3rd AnniversaryHops & Pie (Denver) - It's time to Par-Tay! Coming up on Saturday, September 28th all day starting at 12 noon, it's Hops & Pie's 3rd Anniversary Party and you're all invited. They've partnered up with Avery Brewing to bring an excellent selection of beers to pour just for the occasion. Avery will be bringing: The Reverend (2010), Uncle Jacob's Stout, Lilikoi Kepolo, Bad Apple, Wee Turtles, Trogdor the Burninator, Tweak, duganA, White Rascal, Cascade Hop-backed Avery IPA, The Beast, Chai Brown, Samael's, Odio Equum, Black Pearl, Thensaurum, and some other special taps you won't want to miss. Also, the Colorado Craft Beer Show will be on site doing a live broadcast from 12-2pm (AM 760). Hops & Pie will be offering up some fantastic raffles & prizes. So plan to stop by 3920 Tennyson Street in Denver, CO for this big anniversary party. Come hungry too!

Epic Brewing Company (Denver) - With the pending opening of their Denver taproom later this month, Epic Brewing is already planning some events during the upcoming Great American Beer Festival. The Taproom will be hosting a special event during GABF on Thursday, October 10th. The “First 50 Firkin Fiasco” will feature 50 unique cask ales that represent Epic’s extensive beer selection and the creativity of its brewers. The event is open to the public with a limited selection of VIP passes which allow access to all fifty firkins, a gift bag and food voucher. The event will start at 3:00 pm and finish around 11:00pm. Vine Street Pub & Brewery (Denver) - This Saturday, September 21st starting at 1pm is the 3rd Annual Vine Street Uptown Block Party and Brewer's Olympics. They're closing down Vine Street from 17th to 18th for the block party. Free event to attend! The Vine Street Uptown Block Party and Brewer's Olympics is an annual celebration of the Uptown Community. By coming together to celebrate community, they're able to raise necessary funds for the non-profits in their community. This year, all proceeds from the event benefit Colorado flood relief as well as New Era Colorado, an innovative vehicle for hands-on democracy. The Brewers Olympics start at 1pm followed by the Medal Ceremony at 3:30pm. Live music starts at 4pm and lasts into the evening. Plenty of Mountain Sun & Vine Street beer will be available.

Boulder County

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - While it may be the last couple days of Summer, Avery Brewing is already planning to release their annual winter seasonal Old Jubilation Ale! This brew has a mahogany hue, a hint of hazelnuts, and a finish that'll remind you of mocha and toffee. It weighs in at 8.3% ABV. It's already on tap in the Avery taproom, but 6-packs will be out later in September. Also, Avery is releasing three different Fresh Hop beers today at 5pm. Stop in for a taste of Wet Hop Pale Ale with Chinook, Nugget, or Columbus hops. All made with local Colorado hops.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Tomorrow marks Left Hand Brewing's 20th anniversary! Please join in at the Tasting Room tomorrow, Saturday, September 21st, for a pint of aged TNT and an abundance of door prizes. The first 100 customers to stop in will get a spin on our Beer Club Member's wheel. You could win a free t-shirt, 6 pack, pint and more!

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - High Hops is your entertainment spot for the weekends. They feature not only a wide variety of beers on tap but also live music every Friday 5pm and Saturday 6pm, plus a featured food truck Wednesdays through Sundays at 5pm. Tonight, stop in for food from Bedrock BBQ and live music from Joel Kachel. Saturday features music from Steven Redfern & Somthing Simple and food from Chaulkboard Gourmet. Sunday is Ladies Night with half-priced pints for ladies 4-7pm. Brewhouse tours available Sundays at 3pm!

Mountains and West

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Circle R Gastropub in Oak Creek is hosting a Crazy Mountain Sticky Fingers Fresh Hop Ale release party tonight from 7-10pm! Live music by One Man Bandito is from 8-10pm. Stop by and enjoy $5 pints of hoppy goodness!

Kannah Creek Brewing (Grand Junction) - Today on their tap board they are listing some special beers. On cask: try their Apricot Bourbon Barrel Brown. Also they are starting a new Single Hop Small Batch Series. Today's is Single Hop Cascade, a light pale ale made with just 1 hop variety. Also, coming up on Monday for Firkin Monday - enjoy some "Coconut Stout".
