Colorado Beer News 100313

Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Techies Day. It's the day we pay tribute to those highly skilled technology buffs who help us use our computers and electronic devices. Techies are as obsessive about their skills and devices as craft brewers are about their beer and brewing equipment. Thanks that techie in your life and take them out for a craft beer today. After all, they might just save your ass someday when you can't seem to get your favorite piece of tech working. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, October 3rd, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

[CO Beer Festivals] -- [Beer Dinners] -- [CO Beer Releases]

Metro Denver

Great American Beer Festival (Denver) - One week and counting!

River North Brewing (Denver) - Today at the brewery Mobile Canning was on site with their mobile canning line helping River North can their first beer - White Ale. Look for this brew to hit store shelves really soon! Also, check out the review on River North's Quandary Quadrupel Ale too.

Lone Tree Brewing (Lone Tree) - Pardon their noise! Their new cement pad for their cooler expansion is happening today and it might be a bit noisy around the taproom today. Good thing that beer can pour in any conditions.

Epic Brewing (Denver) - Here's an interesting fact. In Utah, Epic Brewing is paying roughly 41 cents per gallon in beer taxes and Utah wants to raise beer taxes even more. Here in Colorado, they pay just 8 cents per gallon of beer produced locally. And you wonder why they opened their 2nd brewery here in Colorado? Just another reason why it pays to brew in Colorado.

Elk Mountain Brewing (Parker) - There's a seasonal brew tapping today - Ichabod Pumpkin Ale (6.3% ABV). The myth of Ichabod Crane returns in the form of this soon to be legendary beer! Come enjoy the tapping of this great pumpkin ale before the headless horsemen returns to take him away.

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Denver) - Now that their new location in The Source is about to open (tomorrow October 4th), tonight is the last night you can visit their Barrel Cellar taproom. They plan to go out with a bang so hit them up before they close the doors and move to The Source.

Then at 7pm enter a contest to see who has the best STACHE (facial hair) in Boulder. Prizes will be given out to the top 3 places.

Boulder Beer Co (Boulder) - The brewery will release a new year round offering in October called Shake Chocolate Porter. A twist on the traditional robust American Porter, Shake Chocolate Porter is black in color with rich, dark chocolate aromatics and flavors and subtle coffee-like notes. This unique brew blends five different grains, including Chocolate Wheat, that along with cacao nibs create a devilishly delicious chocolate finish with a velvety mouthfeel. Shake Chocolate Porter will be available year round in all markets where Boulder Beer is distributed, in 22-ounce bottles, 12-ounce six packs and draught.
