Colorado Beer News 101813

Colorado Beer NewsToday is No Beard Day. It's a day where men are encouraged to shave off their beard and let the world see them with a smooth clean shave. Despite this so-called holiday, you'll be hard pressed to get men around the craft beer industry to shave their beards off. It's a "growing" trend these days for brewers to be sporting beards. However, for those of you who wish to participate in this year's upcoming No Shave November, it may be time to get a clean shave and prepare for that long month of growing it out. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, October 18th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Mountain Sun (Boulder) - Due to a misinterpretation of "fuzzy" state liquor distribution laws, last week on October 5th state liquor enforcement officials confiscated beers at Mountain Sun that were originally produced at Southern Sun and Vine Street Brewery stating that Mountain Sun was selling beer that was not registered with the state for distribution. Beers were seized and the result was a temporary drop in their beers on tap from 21 down to 6 during GABF week. However, later on after further discussions with officials, it was agreed to return all of the beer back to Mountain Sun. The laws in this matter are a bit unclear and further discussions will be held next week to track internal product transfers between related brewing operations and their sites. Mountain Sun kept very detailed records of all beers moved between all of their sites. More work will be done to ensure Mountain Sun stays within full compliance of state law. For now, taps are back to normal at Mountain Sun. More details on this story can be found on the Boulder Daily Camera website.
