Colorado Beer NewsToday is CAPS LOCK DAY. There's a seldom used button on your keyboard called the Caps Lock key. When pressed it turns everything into capital letters. When used online during chat sessions, it is generally considered as shouting. Here's the one day a year where the use of the Caps Lock key is actually encouraged. GO AHEAD AND SHOUT! Metro Denver

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - October is their "Dead Styles" Cask Month and this Wednesday they will be tapping a cask of "Kentucky Common", a dark cream ale at 3:00pm and running til 9:00pm. Food on site courtesy of Ckrepes starting at 4pm.

Black Shirt Brewing (Denver) - The next evening in the BSB Now Playing series is coming up on Monday, Oct 28th - doors open @ 6:00 pm, music starts @ 7:00 pm. Tickets are $10 online at Eventbrite, and $15 at the door (if any remain). BSB has the privilege of hosting Denver band "Two Tone Wolf Pack" and a special guest. The bands will be set up right in the brewery and it will be an intimate and wonderful show with very limited seats. Additionally, Tots Truck will be there serving great snacks, so come hungry.

Lowry Beer Garden (Denver) - During the long weekend of October 31st - November 3rd, Lowery Beer Garden will be hosting an Avery Brewing mini-tap takeover featuring 7 beers in their Angels vs. Demons series. There will be prizes and giveaways all weekend long.

Arvada Beer Co (Arvada) - Anniversary Week continues with the release of their 1st ever sour beer - Cherry Sour. This is a whiskey barrel-aged beer made with tart red cherries. Available in snifter glasses while it lasts.

The Brew on Broadway (Denver) - The BoB is not only the place for good beer and coffee, but also for live music. They've booked 3 gigs this week: Thursday - Celtic Jam Session, Friday - Shecky & Herb, and Saturday - Bob's Basement Band and Halloween Party from 6:30pm - 9:30pm. Costume contest and great prizes.

Coda Brewing Co (Aurora) - Construction continues at this new Aurora brewery slated to open in early 2014. The concrete and plumbing work has been completed and now the walls are going up at 2101 N. Ursula Street in Aurora, CO - on the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus area. Follow their progress on Facebook.

Beryl's Beer Co (Denver) - Blake Street is about to get another brewery next year in the name of Beryl's Beer Company. They recently posted a Facebook page and list themselves coming to 3120-C Blake Street in Denver, CO.

Blue Moon Brewing at the Sandlot (Denver) - Normally, once the Rockies baseball season is over, the brewery inside of Coors Field shuts down for the season. Now, the Sandlot has announced that they will stay open all winter long and no baseball ticket required during the off season. Sandlot was just named the Large Brewing Company of the Year at the 2013 GABF and they want to showcase their beers all year round downtown. They will be open Tuesday through Saturdays from 2pm to 8pm during the off-season.

Tiny Ass Brewery (Broomfield) - This upcoming brewery is hosting a Beer, Brats, Costumes & Kickstarter fundraising party at 14322 Bungalow Way in Broomfield on Friday, October 25th from pm to 10pm. They will feature 6 of their homebrewed recipes and food. Wear your best costume. Please RSVP to their Facebook event. Max of 40 people.

Colorado Plus Brewpub (Wheat Ridge) - Their 32oz Growlers are finally in and they can now offer their own house beers to go. If you already have an empty 32oz or 64oz growler, they can fill those as well.

Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew (Denver) - The rumors are true. OMF is debuting their pumpkin beer today. You can go get some any time between now and 10PM. East Coast Joe's Food Truck is outside, too, so it's bound to be a great night. Don't forget to ask your friendly bartender for details about their Tuesday glass deal, too.

Boulder County

The Post Brewing Co (Lafayette) - Progress towards opening marked another milestone as their brewhouse equipment arrived on site this week. They are still on track to opening their brewpub this winter, possibly as early as November, at 105 W. Emma Street in Lafayette, CO. Get ready for some hot chicken and cold beer.

Boulder IPA Fest (Boulder) - Have you purchased your tickets to the 2nd Annual Boulder IPA Fest yet set for Saturday, November 9th from 12pm to 5pm? Tickets are selling fast at boulderipafest.eventbrite.com and cost $45 + service fee. Be they dank or piney or floral or tart, spiced or fruited or dry-hopped or wet, Double or Imperial, a little of some or all those together, Avery Brewing is the location where celebrating India Pale Ale in all of its iterations and strengths will happen! The ticket price includes 16 four-ounce pours, a commemorative glass, and live music. Max 4 festival tickets per person.

Oskar Blues (Longmont/Lyons) - Oskar Blues is one of the focuses in tonight's "Brew Dogs" episode on the Esquire Network (TV) tonight at 8pm Mountain time. James Watt and Martin Dickie, owners of the UK’s fastest-growing brewery, travel across America visiting different American beer towns, celebrating distinctive craft beers and creating their own locally-inspired drafts on Esquire Network’s new show Brew Dogs. Join James & Martin as they visit Oskar Blues Brewery, Hops & Heifers Farm, Bike Trails & Home Made Liquids & Solids Restaurant to find inspiration under Colorado’s mountainous open skies, harnessing the sun into a solar-powered, cactus-infused Wild West beer. Fate Brewing Co (Boulder) - It's a Pumpkin-palooza at FATE! On tap now; Nitro Cascadian Dark #Pumpkin (5.9%), FATE Pumpkin Ale (6.7%) and introducing their Chai Pumpkin Saison (6%)! Get on here and get your pumpkin on.

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Coming up on Wednesday, October 23rd at 5pm, High Hops will release a special firkin of Barrel-Aged Honeyed One - an American Red Ale. Firkins tend to go quick so stop by when it taps to guarantee yours. Food from Big City Burrito will also be on hand. Three Spires Brewing Co (Greeley) - Talk of another brewery heading for Greeley. Three Spires Brewing Company is planning to be an all-grain gluten-free brewery featuring delicious beer that "doesn't taste gluten-free". They've put up a Facebook page so you can follow their progress. This would become Greeley's 5th brewery once they open.

Blown Spike Hard Cider Co (Loveland) - Not only do they produce hard cider, but now they will be putting their first mead on tap this weekend. Stop in for a taste. Also, you can now get Blown Spoke hard cider at The Mayor of Old Town as well in Ft. Collins. Blown Spoke will also be pouring at the Colorado Hard Cider Festival in Paonia, CO on Saturday, November 2nd.

Odell Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - This week Odell Brewing Company releases their next product of their Woodcut barrel aged series of beers - Odell Woodcut No. 7 - a Russian Imperial Stout. They released it yesterday and are planning to host release parties for it this Saturday and Sunday from 3-5pm at the newly expanded brewery. Guests will be able to sample this brew along with a variety of chocolate and cheese pairing samples from Whole Foods Market Fort Collins. Woodcut No. 7 is available in 750ml cork and cage bottles throughout their 10-state distribution.

New Belgium (Ft. Collins/Asheville NC) - [PRESS RELEASE] – New Belgium Brewing will resume site work this November on its Asheville location along the French Broad River in preparation for ground-breaking next spring. Contractors will focus on flood plain mitigation, erosion control and concrete removal through the end of the year. Starting in January and running through spring, operations will shift to soil mitigation. Earth moving subcontractors will be hired in November and will begin trucking in dirt by early 2014 for flood plain mitigation. Current schedule projections show the site as “pad-ready” in late spring 2014 at which time building construction will commence. It is estimated that the Asheville brewery will be ready for production in late 2015. “We are excited to enter this next phase of site preparation and building construction,” said New Belgium’s Asheville General Manager, Jay Richardson. “Adolphson + Peterson will begin site preparation in November, with groundbreaking scheduled for Spring 2014. Our current schedule has us producing beer in Asheville by the end of 2015 and a fine day that will be.”

Southern Front Range

Bristol Brewing Co (Colorado Springs) - Two beer releases are coming up this week. 1st is the release of Bristol's Imperial IPA on Thursday October 24th at 5pm at their Ivywild taproom. This is a big 7.9% ABV brew and is bursting with hop aroma and bitterness. And later that day is the annual return of their winter seasonal - Winter Warlock Oatmeal Stout and a Bristol character costume contest at 7pm. Come embrace the hoppy and the dark all in one night.

Mountains and West

7 Hermits Brewing Company (Eagle) - A build-out of a building at 717 Sylan Lake Road is happening and soon a new brewpub will be open in the Eagle Ranch area. 7 Hermits Brewing Company hopes to open by the end of the year with both food and beer. They were temporarily delayed on permits by the fed shutdown, but hope to get everything ironed out and completed soon. Follow their progress on Facebook and at www.7hermitsbrewing.com.

Kannah Creek Winter Soulstiz
Kannah Creek Brewing Co (Grand Junction) - [PRESS RELEASE] Kannah Creek Brewing Company will release its first seasonal beer for distribution during the first week of November. The Winter Soulstiz will be available on draft at restaurants and bars, and in bottles at liquor stores throughout the state of Colorado. The Winter Soulstiz is a complex malt driven ruby red ale balanced with a light hop bitterness. It has an ABV (alcohol by volume) of 6.2% and an IBU (international bittering unit) of 40. “The Winter Soulstiz has always been one of the most anticipated seasonal beers for our staff and well received by customers of the brewpub,” states co-owner Eric Ross. “The timing is right for our move into a seasonal beer and the Winter Soulstiz seemed like a natural introduction.” The new seasonal will be available on draft or in 6-packs and 12-packs. Kannah Creek will also offer a Triplet Mix Pack for the first time. The mix pack will include four bottles of each the Winter Soulstiz, Standing Wave Pale Ale, and Lands End Amber. “With the introduction of a seasonal beer in the Kannah Creek Brewing Company portfolio, we felt the Triplet Mix Pack would be a fun way for loyal and new customers to enjoy a variety of our beers in one convenient package,” Ross explains. The Winter Soulstiz is the first in the seasonal release line for Kannah Creek Brewing Company. In February 2014 the Crossed Irons Irish Ale will be the second seasonal released for state wide distribution.

Two Rascals Brewing Co (Montrose) - Two Rascals are celebrating their 1st Anniversary with a party this Saturday, October 26. They'll be offering up $3 craft beers and $1 tacos. Live music will be on hand from Tony Rosarios from 7-10pm. Door prizes will be given away as well. Come help them celebrate 1 year of brewing.

Durango Brewing Co (Durango) - Stop into the tap room tonight for $2 pints all day and night every Tuesday!
