Colorado Beer News 110413

Colorado Beer NewsToday is the first full day of Standard Time. While we may have turned the clocks back yesterday at 2am, today is actually the first full day of getting back to the Standard Timezone. Funny how Standard Time now only lasts 4 months and Daylight time lasts 8 months. Standard is no longer the standard it seems. Well at least we got an hour extra to sleep during the weekend. Do you feel more awake in the morning now? You can also celebrate National Sandwich Day is you like. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, November 4th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

[CO Beer Festivals] -- [Beer Dinners] -- [CO Beer Releases]

Don't Forget to Vote Tomorrow - November 5th!

Metro Denver

Saint Patrick's Brewing (Englewood) - The brewery is now starting to distribute their lager beers. Their first two offerings will be "Luminosity Lager" and "Midnight Mocha Lager". The liquor store carrying two of their flagship beers is Grapes Wine Market in Centennial, CO.

Rock Bottom Brewery (Denver) - On Wednesday, November 6th Rock Bottom will tap their Anniversary Ale as they celebrate 22 years of beers & cheers! This is a very special “specialty” beer tapping. John (the brewer) is making a raspberry porter for their Anniversary Ale. It will have 120 pounds of berries and should taste like a chocolate covered raspberry. They’ll tap the beer at 6:00 pm and will be serving a complimentary appetizer buffet and pint of Anniversary Ale until 6:30 pm. And of course there will be cake to celebrate.

Bacon and Beer Festival (Denver) - Tickets are now SOLD OUT for this 2nd annual Denver Bacon & Beer Festival set for this coming Sunday, November 10th at the EXDO Event Center. If you missed out, there's also a Bacon and Beer Brewer's Dinner scheduled for Saturday, November 9th at Wynkoop Brewing Company at 7:00pm featuring bacon as a main ingredient in this 5-course meal. There will be beer pairings from Wynkoop, Denver Beer Co, Breckenridge Brewery, and Great Divide. Tickets are $40 each.

Dad & Dude's Breweria (Aurora) - Stop in for Monday Night Football and get 1/2 priced pitchers of craft beer and house margaritas during the game. Also beer trivia tonight starting at 6:40pm. Win great prizes.

Parry's Pizza (Highlands Ranch) - Put this event on your calendar now. On Friday, December 13th, 2013, Parry's will host an "Ugly Sweaters & Barrel Aged Beer" event starting at 6:00pm. Wear your ugliest sweater to Parry's at their Highlands Ranch location and gain access to some very special barrel aged beers. No sweater? Then no barrel aged beer - no excuses. Ask your Aunt to knit you one soon.

River North Brewery (Denver) - Whiskey Barrel Aged J Marie (belgian-style ale) is returning on November 16th at 1pm in the taproom. For this version, they blended J. Marie aged in separate rye and bourbon whiskey barrels. The resulting brew has notes of toasted oak, coconut and fruity esters, finishing with a spicy bite from the rye barrels. Ninety-one cases were bottled, but they expect their taproom allotment to sell out quickly. While Whiskey J. Marie is delicious fresh out the barrel and will be on tap all day, it also ages nicely. More bottles will hit stores the following week.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Their November tappings have been announced for November. Pumpernickel Sage Rye Porter (11/6), Pecan Smoked Brown Ale (11/9), Yamalama Candied Yam Red Ale (11/13), Pecan Bourbon Brown Ale (11/20), Bock Lager (11/23), and Cranberry With (11/27). Something new every week!

The Dude's BaneBoulder Beer Co (Boulder) - [PRESS RELEASE] Boulder Beer Company, Colorado’s First Craft Brewery, will release their most rare bottled beer – The Dude’s Bane – on Saturday, November 16th. Aged for one year in first-use bourbon barrels, The Dude’s Bane is Boulder Beer’s first ever barrel-aged beer released in a bottle and their most rare packaged offering with only eight barrels in existence. It began as a lighter-bodied English-style Barleywine with undertones of candied fruit, then over time evolved into something much more complex with the fusion of bourbon, vanilla and oak flavors from the barrel. And although totally in their Shipping Dude’s way in the cooler all year, the barrels really tied the room together. “At least now I won’t have to move these barrels around anymore,” said Steve Dunn, Shipping Dude at Boulder Beer. “Wait, what? We’re doing another round for next year?” The Dude’s Bane release party will be held on Saturday, November 16th at 3:00pm at The Pub at Boulder Beer. The Dude’s Bane will be sold in 22-ounce bottles, exclusively at The Pub and no other retail outlet. Limit 12 bottles per person. “All bottles will be waxed and hand numbered,” said Jamie Osborn, Pub Manager. “If you’re a collector, we recommend coming down early to get a lower numbered bottle. Then you can have a bite to eat and jump on the 2:00pm brewery tour before we start selling The Dude’s Bane bottles at 3:00pm.” Guests should wear a bathrobe to the festivities to get entered to win Bottle #1! Games with a chance to win some other great prizes start at 3:00pm as well.

Asher Brewing Co (Boulder) - Tomorrow on November 5th Asher Brewing will be hosting their first Organic Industry Night. They are hoping to bring the organic community together so that collectively we all can grow and strengthen.
