Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Pickle Day. They are one of the world's most popular veggie concoctions around and come in lots of different flavors. Ever pair a pickle with a craft beer? It may take some searching to find the perfect match for you. Some pickle or cucumber beers are already out there in the market. Enjoy the end of the day with a pickle! Metro Denver

Prost Brewing (Denver) - Something fun coming up at Prost on November 25th from 7pm to 10pm - Backgammon and Chess Night. Prost Brewing regularly creates refreshing, award winning German style beers, right in Denver near I-25. Join in to sample some of their beers while meeting other chess and backgammon enthusiasts and joining them for a game -- or more! There is a cost of $10 for this event and that covers a small taster flight, information about the brews in the taster flight, and a brief tour of the brewery. If you'd like to learn more about beer or practice your chess or backgammon skills, this is the place for you. Rackhouse Pub (Denver) - Tonight is Geeks Who Drink Pub quiz starting at 8pm. In addition to all the great beer selections on tap, you can get $4 1800 Margaritas and 2 chicken street tacos for $3.

Denver Beer Co (Denver) - The brewery is hosting a Thanksgiving Pie & Beer Pairing on Thursday, November 21st (a week before Thanksgiving). For $12 you can try 3 different pies paired with 3 different beers. You can also pre-order pies for the next week's Thanksgiving dinner as well. Order and pick-up pies on Wednesday, November 27th from 3pm to 8pm. Details on their Facebook page.

Boulder County

West Flanders Brewing Co (Boulder) - Looking for quality beer and food with a cheap price? Today during Happy Hour on Pearl Street you can get $3 beers and discounted snacks from 3pm to 6:30pm. Beer o'clock starts at 3!

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - Last month they set aside a keg of "Positively The Berries", the beer made for The Catamounts' show FAILURE, and tonight Wild Woods will tap it in the tap room! It's a strong, elegant beer brewed with raspberries and rose petals, 8.6% ABV.

Asher Brewing Co (Boulder) - Please remember to save any small toiletries you might have (ie soaps, lotions, face wash...) and donate them at Asher Brewing (in the box on the bar) to be used as stocking stuffers for people who are in need this holiday season. The more they collect, the more stockings they can make!

Crystal Springs Brewing Co (Louisville) - Mighty Joe's Cruisin' Kitchen will be at the taproom this Friday and Saturday from about 3:00pm on. Crystal Springs will be open from 4 - 8pm'ish on Friday and Saturday from 1-8pm'ish. They'll be closed on Sunday and Monday, but then next week they will begin opening from 4pm until 8pm'ish Tuesdays through Fridays (4-6pm Happy Hour). THey will also be open for all the Bronco's games in December - 12/1, 12/8, 12/12, 12/22, 12/29. For Sunday games, they will open 1 hour prior to kickoff. On 12/12 they will open at the regular time - 4:00pm.

Odd13 Brewing (Lafayette) - New beer today! Their first big-batch sour beer, a kettle-soured cherry Dubbel is now on tap. You might wish to pair that with some food from Bubba Dukes BBQ who will be on site tonight. Also, don't forget Foos n Brews at 7pm.

Avery Brewing Company (Boulder) - After a short hiatus, Avery beers are now being distributed to the state of Arizona once again. Adam Avery will be on site at Papago Brewing Company tonight to celebrate the return of Avery beers to the Grand Canyon State. “I missed Arizona,” said Adam Avery, the brewery’s president, CEO and brewmaster. “One of my favorite events ever was with Ron and Leah at Papago. I feel really fortunate and grateful that they have offered to host our return party. I can’t wait to have beers with them tonight.” Arizona was one of eight states that Avery pulled out of in April 2011. At that time the brewery faced skyrocketing demand in its home market that outpaced the its ever-expanding production capabilities. Since then, Avery has increased capacity at its existing facility and has plans for a new brewery that are coming along quickly. The result is that Avery has enough beer to return to some markets including Arizona.

Northern Colorado

New Belgium FrambozenNew Belgium (Ft. Collins) - [PRESS RELEASE] 'Tis the Season for New Belgium's Frambozen. Whether the holidays bring sunshine, rain or crisp white snow, New Belgium Brewing’s Frambozen has a place on the table. Celebrating its twentieth birthday, Frambozen is one of the few beers released annually by New Belgium, and is named after the Flemish word for raspberries. In line with the season of tradition, New Belgium annually sends delegates to the Pacific Northwest to select freshly picked raspberries and oversee the process of turning them into a pure juice that the brewers use in fermentation. Frambozen pops with fresh tart raspberries and is backed by nutty, chocolate and caramel malts. It has 6.5 percent ABV. Frambozen is available in most New Belgium markets through January and pricing varies by location. Patrick's Irish Pub (Greeley) - Stop by Patrick's this coming Monday, November 18th at 7pm for a meeting of craft beer lovers and homebrewers. They are hosting craft beer discussions and presentations every 3rd Monday of the month. Anyone can participate. There will be discounts on beer available during these gatherings. New tapping this week: Stone's Enjoy By IPA. 31 beers on tap and a full bar service. ALso, starting this Saturday 4pm to 10pm and every following Saturday, get a free slice of pie with the purchase of any cellar beer.

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - They open at 3pm today and will be offering $1 off "Killer Boots" Caramel Porter all day long. Plus, have you tried their new "Save the Berries" Blueberry Double Oatmeal Stout yet? Proceeds of that beer will go towards prostate and testicular cancer research. The money from this research might just save your berries one day.

Black Bottle Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Beer notes for today - They are on their last keg of Cerealiously Golden Grahams today. Guest beers just tapped include: Fort Collins Brewery's Flemish Sour Red and Saint Arnold's Santo. Tomorrow, they plan to tap "Holy Sh*t Double Wit". And coming next week will be another Cerealiously Cinnamon Toast Crunch edition.

Southern Front Range

Nano 108 Brewing Company (Colorado Springs) - A new brewery has opened it's doors as of yesterday. Nano 108 Brewing Company is located at 2402 Waynoka Road on the east side of Colorado Springs, CO. They held a pre-opening on November 8th and send word last night that they are now open. Their hours are Wed-Thur 3-10pm, Fri-Sat 12-11pm, and Sun 11am-5pm. They have a Facebook page you can check out. No word on what beers they have on tap currently. They are working on a web site as well at: http://nano108brewing.com.

Mountains and West

Casey Brewing and BlendingCasey Brewing & Blending (Glenwood Springs) - Coming sometime in 2014, a former brewery from AC Golden's barrel program, Troy Casey, is breaking out on his own and will open up his own brewery in the Roaring Fork Valley area next year. This will be a new artisanal brewing company focused on the art of blending beer in a yet to be determined property. Troy has a passion for Belgian-style beers. Casey Brewing and Blending will focus on crafting beers using old-world brewing techniques that center on mixed culture fermentation in oak barrels. “We will ferment 100% of our beer in oak barrels using a variety of yeast strains,” said Troy. “For each blend, our goal is to bring together unique flavors from several different barrels to create beers with characteristics that are impossible to create any other way.” Casey Brewing and Blending will have a tasting room in the heart of their operation for customers to sample blends and learn about their unique production methods. AVLS Taste of the ValleyAVLS Taste of the Valley Fundraiser (Salida) - [PRESS RELEASE] An upscale sampling of local craft libations, foods and dancing will be the highlight of the Ark Valley Libation Society Taste of the Valley this Saturday, Nov. 16, at Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort and Spa. Dinner and libations will be served from 6–8pm; Paa Kow’s By All Means Band headlines the after-party from 8–10pm. AVLS members include Amica’s Pizza and Microbrewery, Deerhammer Distilling Co., Elevation Beer Co., Moonlight Pizza and Brewpub, Three Barrel Brewing and Wood’s High Mountain Distillery. Food will be provided by Mt. Princeton, Amica’s, Moonlight, Beyond the Hive, Jumping Goat Dairy, Benson’s Tavern, Kalamata Pit and more. A portion of proceeds will benefit the Johnson Family Fund for the surviving children of the Buena Vista family that was killed in a rockslide in September. AVLS will also host a silent auction for unique items and art from area businesses and artists. Free shuttle transportation to and from the event will be provided by Chaffee Shuttle. Shuttles will pickup and return to Moonlight Pizza for Salida guests and Deerhammer Distilling for Buena Vista guests. Shuttles to the event will depart from both locations at 5:30pm. Tickets for the event are $45 in advance or $55 at the door. Advance tickets to AVLS Taste of the Valley can be purchased online. The first 20 people to show up will get a free commemorative AVLS tasting glass. Mount Princeton is offering a 10% discount on rooms set aside for AVLS guests making advance reservations.
