Colorado Beer NewsToday is Ding A Ling Day. By definition, a ding-a-ling is a "wonderful, loving, intelligent, friendly, and the most desirable kind of person to know - a real bellringer even though they may be a little weird, strange, bizarre and crazy". So today, bring out that inner ding-a-ling in you and be a bit bizarre and crazy. Perhaps this is why you see so many people wearing ugly sweaters this time of year. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, December 12th, 2013. If you aren't reading this article on FermentedlyChallenged.com, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Wit's End Brewing Co (Denver) - On Friday, December 13th from 2-9pm, it's the return of Ugly Sweater (the beer)! They will be launching their beloved winter ale Friday, December 13. Come help them celebrate by rocking your ugly sweater in the taproom. They will be raffling door prizes for those wearing an ugly sweater as well as a special prize for the best (or worst?) ugly sweater to be chosen at 7:00pm. Jason from Pride of Philly will be providing his amazing cheese steaks and taproom hours will be extended slightly from 2-9 PM ish. Also, Friday will be the only day theye will sell Ugly Sweater to go—and only in our 40s. So bring your 40 in for a refill or grab a new one.

Barrels and Bottles Brewery (Golden) - Thanks to Beer City Glass (Michigan), they now have growlers for sale. B&B has Einhorn is Finkle 1995 style IPA and their Unfiltered Hoppy Wheat to fill up these extremely impressive cobalt blue growlers. They also have Mysterious Mr. Wink Blonde Ale, in honor of Gary Wink, the outgoing President/CEO of the Golden Chamber of Commerce, and Warmer Dayz Winter Ale coming in the next week. Be on the lookout for these delicious beers to be on tap.

Can't Stop Brewing (Denver) - Did you miss hanging out with the Can't Stop Brewing folks last night to sample their beer? If so, you have another chance on Friday night. Head over to Strange Brewing in Denver from 5pm to 9pm and you can try some of their 3AM Pale Ale. Look for their brewery to open sometime in the Spring of 2014 at 240 S. Pecos Street in Denver, CO.

Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - The brewery is looking for volunteers to help them on their next canning line run for their Ghost Drifter beer on Wednesday, December 18th. They plan to do one shift from noon until about 4pm. If you are interested in helping them do their canning, please check their Facebook page and send them a private message with your name, email and phone number. Another opportunity will come up on Thursday, December 26th.

Great Divide Brewing Co (Denver) - Spread the news good folk - they now have Old Ruffian - Barleywine style ale now available in bomber bottles once again. Plus, it's sporting a new label look this year. This brew weighs in at 10.2% ABV.

Saint Patrick's Brewing Co (Denver) - Their Toasted Coconut Mocha Lager will be release for in house pours today. Then tomorrow, December 13th, they will release their Apple Pie Amber lager with free tasters and in-house pours.

CAUTION: Brewing Co (Denver) - Unfortunately, everyone will have to wait a bit longer for their West location to open. They had hoped to open CAUTION: West this weekend, but due to some "bureaucratic mishap" it will be delayed a while. In the meantime, come party down at CAUTION: East. Taproom is open from 4pm to 8pm.

Mountain Toad Brewing (Golden) - The brewery has 10 beers on tap today including today's tadpole, a Red IPA! That makes it 4 for their IPA tap count today, so hopheads rejoice! Non hopheads, don't fear, they still have 6 other beers on tap just for you. Quiero Arepas will be there cooking up the best arepas in town too!

Boulder County

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - O.B. Trivia - Did you know that it's been a year since Oskar Blues opened their brewery in Brevard, North Carolina? Yup, now you know. And if you were in Brevard, NC today you'd be partying big at their taproom today. In the meantime, they've got plenty of beer on tap at their Longmont taproom.

Bootstrap Brewing Co (Niwot) - Their Pineapple Gold is back on tap today, just in time for you to watch the Bronco game in their taproom tonight.

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Got cold feet? You're in luck! Today High Hops is releasing a beer called "Foot Warmer". It's a winter barleywine that will sure to bring you some warmth all the way down to your toes. This brew has been aging for three months.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Tonight, come watch the Broncos play on their big screen. They will be offering 1/2 price pitchers and "Hoppy Meals" (brat + beer for $7.50) during the game. Then be sure to stop back on Saturday night for some folkin' good fun with The Stubby Shillelaghs from 7-10pm. If you wear a kilt that night you'll get a "Buy 1 Get 1" pints.

Pateros Creek Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - Good grief! Today's Outlaw Tap is a malty, sweet Brown ale with a mix of Christmas spices. They call it "Charlie Brown". Stop in today and try a pint.

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - Tonight is Guy's Night. Come on in and cheer on the Broncos. Grab yourself a free slice of pizza while it lasts. Pair that with a cold beer. They will offer $3 pours of Plethora all night. Ladies are welcome too.

Funkwerks (Ft. Collins) - Want to win a new bike?? Purchase a full glass of beer in the Funkwerks taproom between 12pm-6pm this Saturday, December 14th, and you'll be entered in to the drawing to win a custom built Funkwerks fixie from Big Shot Bikes!

Equinox Brewing (Ft. Collins) - The first of their 12 Days of Beer tappings is now available - Maple Snow Capped Borealis Winter Ale. This brew tapped at noon today. A new beer each day for 12 days!

Broken Plow Brewery (Greeley) - The brewery is now busily making beer in their brewhouse! They've had two full days of brewing in already in getting ready for their opening near the end of the year. Stay tuned for news on when opening day will be. Soon!

Southern Front Range

Trinity Brewing Co (Colorado Springs) - Today at the taproom at 5pm, author Emily Hutto will be visiting signing books for her latest beer book "Colorado Top Brewers". Then on Friday, December 13th, Trinity will release Farmhouse Rusé, a cold weather Saison that's midnight black with a Belgian twist. Be sure to wear your ugly sweat that night too for Ugly Sweater Night.

Phantom Canyon Brewing Co (Colorado Springs) - Join in for their 20th Anniversary Party this Friday, Dec. 13th! They'll have Happy Hour pricing all day, live music, prizes and giveaways. Wish them congratulations on reaching 20 years of business.

Mountains and West

Glenwood Canyon Brewpub (Glenwood Springs) - What's featured on tap? How about a Dos Rios Lager? This is a classic amber lager with drinkability. Generous portions of toasted malt give this beer a brick red color and a smooth, malty flavor. This brew is based on a recipe from a famous Mexican brewer of the 19th century named Santiago Graf. Dos Rios was a silver medal winner at the Great American Beer Festival in 2002, 2003 and 2007. It weighs in at 5.7%. Ask for it on your next visit.

Carver Brewing (Durango) - Stop in and get their new quart growlers. Featured beers available include their new beers: "The Flux Incapacitor", a strong golden ale, and the 2013 Big Grizz, an American style barleywine. Growlers make great gifts and are always welcome at adult Holiday parties.

Ouray Brewery Co (Ouray) - The Ouray Ice Park opens this weekend and the brewery has their full winter line-up of apres-climbing beers on tap including a Blonde, an IPA, a Stout, a Scottish ale, a Pils, a Rye and 1 other house brew. Don't forget your OBC key chains.

Crazy Mountain Brewing Co (Edwards) - The brewery is joining forces with SOUL POLES, Liberty Skis, and Friends of CAIC today for a Build Your Own Ski Poles event from 4pm to 8pm today! Swing on by for $2 pints and to raise money for the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. They're also having a raffle. Come win some sweet prizes! They're starting early (at 4pm) so you can still catch the Broncos game after you make your own custom ski poles.
