Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Re-Gifting Day. This day was created with office holiday parties in mind. You know all those outrageous gifts you get at office parties? Chances are those gifts were given at least once before. If you have ever received a unique gift that just didn't seem to fit you - why not re-gift it to someone else! Holiday Reminder: Don't Drink and Drive this Holiday season. Local law enforcement will begin beefing up DUI checkpoints for the entire holiday season. Play it safe and always use a designated driver or call a taxi. The life you save may be your own.

Metro Denver

Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - If you've been participating in their Day Trip Thursday awards program since the beginning, you'll be one stamp away from a free Odyssey hat and a koozie if you stop in for a pint or two! Even if you haven't, you may be close to a free pint or growler fill. Their doors open at 2pm today with Happy Hour lasting til 5:00pm.

Colorado Plus Brewpub (Wheat Ridge) - New beer alert! Remember the Cinnamon Almond Ale (Adam Draeger's first set of beers released this summer?) Just tapped this week is their imperial version: Cinnamon Almond Winter Warmer. This big brew weighs in at 8.9% ABV and 27 IBUs and will warm your heart during these colder days ahead. It still has a strong real cinnamon cassia flavor and a ton of true almond extract. The almond taste is up front and forward like the cinnamon.

Colorado Cider Company (Denver) - Recently, this local Colorado cidery was featured in the Hard Cider News as a company who is expecting to grow production 150% in 2013. They recently added four new 2,100 gallon and two new 1,200 gallon tanks and tripled their annual capacity up from 25,000 gallons to 75,000 gallons. Not only are they one of the largest hard cider makers in Colorado, they also plan to grow their own apples. They recently planted over 1,000 cider trees near Hotchkiss, Colorado and hope to plant another 2,000 more in the future.

Lone Tree Brewing Co (Lone Tree) - New equipment is coming! The brewery has a new canning line on order and plans to start canning their own beers in 2014. The new canning line is expected to arrive any time now. In the meantime, stop in for beer and live trivia tonight. East Coast Joe's Food Truck will also be on hand.

CAUTION: Brewing Co (Lakewood) - Late yesterday afternoon, the final approvals came in and the new CAUTION: West brewery & taproom opened for business in Lakewood. The brewery is located at 1057 S. Wadsworth Boulevard. They plan to be open 6 days a week. Today's hours will be 2-10pm. Also, they will continue to operate at their East location as well. Two spots now serving the Denver metro area.

Diebolt Brewing (Denver) - Still in need of a gift idea? Get something for the beer lover on your list. The Bottled Lightning Club is Diebolt Brewing's premiere, inaugural, experimental, presale bottle club. For $125, members will receive one 22-ounce small-batch pilot brew each month over the course of 2014, starting in January. There are just 100 spots available for the 2014 club. Bottled Lightning Club members will also receive 10 percent off all beer and merchandise at the brewery for an entire year, as well as an official membership card. And it even comes with a printable membership certificate for you to put under the tree. It’s a delicious no-brainer for the beer lover on your Christmas list. Boulder County

The Very Nice Beer Company (Nederland) - The brewery just started up a new charity program. For each featured charity beer, $1 for each pint goes to a charity. Currently Freshie the fresh hopped ale, made with hops locally picked at the Hops Inn there in Nederland, is the charity beer for Rebuild Jamestown. They also have a chili porter which goes to RIBA (Ruth is a Badass), Ruth is a dear friend of the owners, and she is currently battling a brain tumor. Come on in and have one or both!

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - On Thursday, December 19th, 2013, Oskar Blues will be hosting a screening of Crafting A Nation at their Tasty Weasel Taproom. 100% of ticket sales will go directly to the CAN'D AID Foundation, Oskar Blues' charitable nonprofit. The CAN'd Aid Foundation started as an immediate response to the September flooding, and has raised $260,000 for families, small businesses and local organizations in just 8 weeks! Crafting A Nation is a feature length documentary about how American craft brewers are rebuilding the economy one craft beer at a time. The film travels from coast to coast capturing the stories of brewers, business owners, and stubborn dreamers with the entrepreneurial spirit. The Oskar Blues story does play a role in the film. Stick around after the screening for a Q & A with OB soul founder Dale Katechis, head brewer Tim Matthews, other brewing industry folks and the makers of Crafting a Nation. Twisted Pine Brewing Co (Boulder) - Join in tonight for some Reindeer Games in the taproom and help support EFAAneeds which provides those in need with food, shelter and other basic necessities in the Boulder area. A $5 donation gets you entry into the beer pong tournament. All proceeds to to charity as does 10% of all sales that day. You'll get extra style points if you wear antlers while competing. The games start at 6pm.

Northern Colorado

Broken Plow Brewery (Greeley) - Getting to opening day seems to always take longer than you think. According to the brewery: "There are a few loose ends to tie up. Some are legalities so can't rush the process. We will be announcing the minute we know! If you drive by, watch for a new OPEN sign by the front door in the window. If that baby is on - COME IN! We will also light the big sign at night. It should happen within the next 2 weeks. SHARE Broken Plow Brewery (on Facebook) with all your pals and you can watch for the signs together!"

2014 Lost in the WoodsLost in the Woods 2014 (Ft. Collins) - Those of you lucky enough to remember last year's inaugural Lost in the Woods celebration at New Belgium last Spring take note. New Belgium is hosting another big party for the 2014 La Folie release on Saturday, February 1st from 7pm to 11pm at the brewery. Tickets are $40 for the 7-11pm session which includes beer and live music. For $60, you can also attend both the tasting session and a Sour Beer Symposium from 5pm to 6:30pm with appetizers following. Tickets are available at:

New Belgium Brewing (Ft. Collins) - New Belgium is planning to expand distribution to Alabama in early 2014. [PRESS RELEASE] New Belgium Brewing will begin distributing beer throughout Alabama as of January 27th, 2014. The “Yellowhammer” state will be New Belgium’s 36th state of distribution. Initial offerings include Fat Tire, Ranger IPA, Spring Blonde (seasonal), Snapshot Wheat, Shift, Trippel and the Lips of Faith series. The rollout will feature 12-oz and 22-oz bottles, 12-oz cans and draft. New Belgium will partner with: Supreme Beverage, Gulf Distributing, Allstate Beverage, and Premium Beverage. “We interviewed a lot of great wholesalers in the area and we’re very excited about where we've landed,“ said New Belgium’s Southeast Regional Sales Director, Jeff Sipes. “We look forward to making new friends, learning new things and contributing to Alabama’s thriving beer and food scene.“

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Santa is coming early to Fort Collins. He plans to leave a keg of Russian River Supplication at The Mayor on December 24th. They plan to tap it at 11:00am. Plan to attend.

Equinox Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Continuing on with their 12 Days of Beer, on the 8th day they will be serving the final firkin in their Snow Capped Series - Gingerbread Borealis Winter Ale. It will be served in glasses "snow capped" with cinnamon and ginger infused sugar. On tap today. Look for 4 more beers leading up to Christmas Eve.

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Hurry in because the final kegs of their Country Pumpkin and Up All Night Watchman are now on tap. Once they're gone it'll be a while before they're back. Also tonight listen to Treena "The Kiwi" McCurdy who will play live music at 6pm.

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - It's Thursday and that means there's an Outlaw beer being tapped at 2:00pm today. This week's Outlaw is "William-Lee Stout", a session stout named after two regulars that tried all stages of the brews. It's dark and sweet with notes of hazelnut, chocolate and coffee.

Odell Brewing (Ft. Collins) - Musical group "Head for the Hills" and Odell Brewing together will re-release "Head for the Hills - Colorado Amber Ale" on New Years Eve at the Aggie Theatre in Ft. Collins. This beer was brewed with the band on Odell's pilot system. Music and beer just seem to go together well!

Southern Front Range

Phantom Canyon Brewing (Colorado Springs) - The brewery has just put back up their chalkboard and it is "chalk" full of beer information. The board lists their current beers on tap, which beers are currently in which particular fermenter, and also the upcoming beers they have planned after that. Here's how it looked last night (via their Facebook page). Also, they now have their 20th anniversary stainless steel growlers now in stock!

Mountains and West

Palisade Brewing Company (Palisade) - Just in time for the holidays. You can now get their Hula Hoppie Session IPA Ale in 12oz cans. This brew uses Nugget and Crystal hops grown at the Misty Mountain Hop Farm in Olathe, Colorado. This IPA is easy drinking with a hop nose that just won't quit. Look for it in regional stores in Colorado.

Crazy Mountain Brewing Co (Edwards) - There's an Art special going on in the tasting room. If you buy any piece of artwork on display in the tasting room, you will also receive 2 free pints of beer. Local art makes a unique holiday gift.

Edgewater Brewery (Grand Junction) - Kannah Creek's 2nd brewery (Edgewater Brewery) will host a Bottled Beer Give Back event spanning 3 days from January 13th to January 16th. Stop in anytime on those days and purchase a Lands End Amber or a Standing Wave Pale Ale bottle for $2 and they will donate $1 from every bottle sold to the Riverfront Commission. This commission is dedicated to establishing an uninterrupted public trail spanning the distance from Palisade to Fruita.
