Colorado Beer NewsToday is New Year's Day aka National Bloody Mary Day. It's your first chance to start up everything you need to do for the year. Last year is gone and the new year lies ahead with lots of promise. 2014 is going to be another great year for craft beer here in Colorado with another 100+ breweries waiting in the wings to open. What's your New Year's Resolution? What ever your resolutions are, be sure to include visiting some Colorado breweries and enjoying some craft beer. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, January 1st, 2014. If you aren't reading this article on, you don't know what you're missing.

Metro Denver

Station 26 Brewing Co (Denver) - Denver's newest brewery is open today starting at 2pm. They tapped a Cranberry Raspberry Kolsch today. Get a 0.3L Stange of it for just $3.

Hall Brewing Company (Parker) - Didn't get enough liquid fun last night? Stop in at Hall Brewing's taproom in Parker. They are open today until 9pm with plenty of beer on tap.

Lone Tree Brewing Co (Lone Tree) - LTBC is excited to start the New Year with their Charity of the Month program. Charities have applied on their website and are chosen by LTBC staff. Each month they will be donating a percentage of tasting room sales to a chosen charity so come on in, have a beer and support these amazing charities! Their January Charity of the Month is 1 Liquid House. "1 Liquid House exists to strengthen teenagers’ identity through combining mentoring relationships with the creative arts." They are excited to be working with 1 Liquid House and will have members of this organization there at the brewery soon to promote the organization. LTBC will post the date for this event soon!

Parry's Pizza (Highlands Ranch) - During January Happy Hours, get half off Every Beer. Can you say Ale Yeah? Happy Hour at all Parry's locations means you get half off every beer (w/ the exception of Parry's Pints) for the entire month of January. What a way to start a new year, huh? Happy hour is 3pm - 6pm, Monday - Friday.

The Brew on Broadway (Denver) - The BoB is open today until 8pm. If you have the need for some hair of the dog, stop in and get your fill.

Kokopelli Beer Company (Westminster) - The brewpub will be opening in less than ten days from now. They'll have their own fresh craft beer as well as handmade pizzas. Get ready for their opening at 8931 Harlan Street in Westminster, CO very soon!

Odyssey Beerwerks (Arvada) - Kick of the New Year the right way. Beermosas, Orange and Red beers available at the taproom all day today. They'll also have food from Corner of Gourmet to help if you happened to overdo it a bit last night.

Boulder County

West Flanders Brewing Co (Boulder) - Get ready for Thursday Small Batch Series beers! Head brewer Brian has started to make small, unique batches of beer. These firkins will be tapped every Thursday at 5pm and will feature a new and different beer each time. The first in the series will be tapped on January 2nd at 5pm and feature their Third Kingdom IPA that has been dry-hopped with Cascade hops and infused with Rosemary. Thursdays in 2014 will be filled with unique flavors.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - January traditionally brings back two beers for the season: New World Porter and The Maharaja Imperial IPA. This year, the New World Porter is dry-hopped for extra hop aroma. Coming up on January 17th at 9am MST, tickets go on sale for this year's Boulder Strong Ale. The fest will be held on February 28th (5-10pm) and March 1st (12pm - 5pm) at Avery Brewing in Boulder. All beers will be 8% or higher. Plus, in the weeks to come look for the following beers to be tapped: Mayon Goddess (Russian Imperial Stout with spices), and also Trogdor the Burninator (German-style smoked doppelbock).

West End Tavern (Boulder) - Tomorrow night, January 2nd, starting at 6:30pm - West End Tavern will sponsor a Bootstrap Brewing Company Satellite Taproom. Plenty of different Bootstrap beers will be on tap. You'll get a raffle ticket for every Bootstrap beer you purchase with drawings fro swag including 2 tickets to the Vail Big Beers Festival on the 11th!

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - 2014 will be an even bigger year for Wild Woods' beer. They are anticipating the arrival of their new 7 barrel brewing system very soon. Get ready for even more craft beer on tap!

Northern Colorado

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - This Thursday, January 2nd, High Hops will release Dr. Pat's #11, an IPA brewed with bitter orange peel, black pepper and Simcoe hops and then dry hopped with Citra hops. Food trucks available Thursday through Sunday nights this week. Live music on Friday (Joel Kachel) and Saturday (The Feral West).

Estes Park Brewery (Estes Park) - A quick shout out to the Estes Park Brewery who is celebrating their 21st Anniversary today (January 1st) according to Facebook.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - The taproom IS open today and they are continuing their Traveling Growler program. Come in today for $2 off on growler fills. And for a bonus, bring a growler in from a Nebraska brewery and you will be put in a drawing for a free pint.

Broken Plow Brewery (Greeley) - In case you missed it, Broken Plow Brewery officially opened for business on New Year's Eve in Greeley at 4371 West 10th Street. The place was packed for opening day. They had three beers on tap with more coming just as soon as the TTB finalizes some beer approvals. They are closed today, but will be open regular hours starting tomorrow. They currently have 3 beers on tap including a Hoppy New Year Pale Ale, Desert Brown, and an Oatmeal Milk Stout. Look for their Chile Ale to debut very soon! They have become Greeley's 4th brewery. Southern Front Range

Great Storm Brewing (Colorado Springs) - The brewery is back open for business! Stop in for a beer today.

Smiling Toad Brewery (Colorado Springs) - The brewery is open today and they are back to their regular schedule. Open Tuesday through Saturday 3pm to 9pm. If you have a Smiling Toad t-shirt and wear it into the taproom you'll get $1 off all pints on Wednesdays the entire year. Offer also good on new t-shirt purchases.

Mountains and West

San Luis Valley Brewing Co (Alamosa) - Released just a day before New Years, 32° Below, an English Winter Warmer is now on tap for the entire winter. This beer is malty and balanced with just the right amount of alcohol and hops to stave off Winter's chill, 32° Below was very popular last year so they decided to bring it back for another Winter. It's perfect for long, cold nights. Come on down and grab a pint or two, this winter warmer won't disappoint.

Eddyline Brewing Co (Buena Vista) - Eddyline is open today and they have plenty of good beer waiting for you. They also have $5 bloody mary's and mimosa's at the taproom all day.

Crazy Mountain Brewing Co (Edwards) - The Crazy Wagon Food Truck is up and cooking, and the smell of smokey bacon and grostle is permeating the air - the perfect way to beat that hangover! Also, come on by for $4 Beer-mosas in the Tasting Room! They'll be open until 4pm today, so come enjoy their Hangover Brunch to pick you up after a night of indulgences!
